Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research is to describe the type of language style based on sentence structure and based on whether or not the meaning and function of the language style contained in the anthology of the “Cermin Waktu” short story by Indonesian Language and Literature Education Students 2011 Faculty of Language and Art, State University of Padang. The method used is descriptive. The approach in this research is the stylistic. Based on the research conducted the type of language style based on sentence structure found 4 types of language style, namely climax, anticlimax, repetition, and antithesis. The type of language style is based on whether or not direct meaning is of two kinds, namely rhetorical  and the style of figurative language. The rhetorical style of the language is found in 7 types of language styles, namely apostrophes, asindenton, polisindenton, euphemism, pleonasm, rhetorical questions, and hyperbole. The figurative language style is found in 4 types of language styles, namely equality, metaphor, personification, and cynicism and sarcasm. The language style function contained in the anthology of the “Cermin Waktu” short story is found in 5 types of language style function, namely concreting 25 speeches, asserting 88 utterances, beautifying 24 speeches, smoothing 2 speeches, and insinuating 4 speeches.  Kata Kunci: Gaya bahasa, Fungsi, Jenis

Abstract

This article was written to illustrate the effect of discovery learning models directly media-assisted objects and skills to write reports text of students of class VII SMP Negeri 11 Padang. Research data is the result of the score in the skill of writing the report text before and after using dicovery learning model assisted by direct object media. This study has three results. First, the skill of writing the report text of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 11 Padang before using discovery learning model with the object media directly in the qualification Self (C) with the average value 62.21. Second, the skill of writing the report text of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 11 Padang after using discovery learning model with the object media directly in the good qualification (B) with the average value 78,32. Third, based on the experiment concluded that there is a significant influence on the discovery learning model with the direct object of the students of class VII SMP Negeri 11 Padang because ttable<tcount (1,70<8,41). Kata kunci: pengaruh, discovery learning model, media objek langsung, menulis, teks laporan observasi

Abstract

The purpose of this research are describing the form, strategy, and context of using speech act strategy which are positively and negatively responded by the students in teaching and learning process in class IX at SMPN 26 Padang. The type of this research is a qualitative research descriptive. (3) Method within the data such as the teachers’ speech act and students’ respond in teaching and learning process. The technique used in collecting the data is recording technique. Based on the research discovery and discussion, the writer concludes the terms below. There are five types of directive speech act asking, desiring, suggesting, demanding, and challenging. These types of directive speech act are expressed by using four types of speaking; they are speaking frankly without politeness, speaking frankly with positive politeness, speaking frankly with negative politeness, and speaking obscurely in teaching and learning process in different situations. That teacher’s speech acts are responded differently by the students. The responds can be a respond of positive verbal, negative verbal, positive nonverbal and negative nonverbal. Kata kunci:  direktif, strategi, konteks, respon siswa

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to describe the educational values of character in Andrea Hirata’s novel entitled Ayah. The research is a qualitative descriptive method. The approach taken in this study is a mimetic approach.This research data is in the form of words, phrases, sentences and the discourse displaying events and characters that indicate the educational values of character in Andrea Hirata’s Ayah novel including: (1) religious, (2) honest, (3) creative, (4) independent, (5) pacifist, (6) worker, (7) curious, (8) friendly, (9) who likes reading, (10) nationalist, and (11) patriotic. The techniques of collecting research data here are to read and understand, decide the main character and supporting character, inventory, interpret, and conclude.Kata kunci: nilai, pendidikan, karakter, implikasi

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article was to (1) describe the level of reading comprehension skills of the text exposition of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang (2) to describe the skill level of writing the exposition text of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 34 Padang; and (3) to describe the correlational of reading comprehension skills of the exposition text skill of writing text exposition of student of class VIII of SMP Negeri 34 Padang. Theories used in this research are skill, reading comprehension of exposition text, writing skill of exposition, correlation skill reading comprehension text exposition to skill of writing text exposition of student class VIII SMP Negeri 34  Padang.This research type is quantitative research by using descriptive method. An escriptive method with correlation approach. The population in this study is the students of class VIII of  SMP  34 Padang registered in the academic year 2017/2018 which amounted to 268 students. The sample of this study amounted to 40 students. The sampling of this research was done by propotional random sampling technique. The data of this research is score of skill reading comprehension result in the form of objective test and score of skill writing skill in the form of performance test of class VIII student of  SMP Negeri 34 Padang. Based on the research result. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to describe (1) the form of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron, (2) the cause of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron, (3) the settlement of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron. The research is a qualitative descriptive method. The approach taken in this study is the approach of sociology of literature. Data of this study are the elements of the novel that reveals social conflicts contained in the novel Inheritance work Chairul Harun include: (1) the forms of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron, (2) the cause of social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron , (3) the forms of social conflict resolution in the novel Inheritance works Chairul Aaron. This research data collection techniques are read and understand, identify, inventory, and mengklasisifikasikan data relating to social conflict in the novel Inheritance works Chairu Aaron. Based on the research results, it can be concluded social conflict in the novel Inheritance Chairul Aaron's work as follows. First, the forms of social conflict, namely; personal conflicts as a result of another person; The main figures conflict with the family; The main figures conflict with the community. Second, penyebabtimbulnya social conflict, namely; economic factors; biological factors; psychological factors; cultural factors. Third, the forms of social conflict resolution, namely conciliation / peace; mediation; coercion / force; détente / loosening. Type of this research is quantitative with the method of experimentation. Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is as follows. First, describe the critical reading skills of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan. Second, it describes the writing skills text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan. Thirdly, analysing the contribution of the reading skills of critical writing skills text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan. Type of this research is a descriptive method quantitative research. The design of research i.e. research korelasional. This research population is grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan 2018/2019 school year with a total of 50 people scattered in two classes. A sample of these studies amounted to 50 people. Sampling techniques in the study are the total sampling. Variables this research is critical reading skills as free variables (X) and writing skills text exposition as a variable (Y). The instruments used in this research is an objective test for critical reading skills and test performance for writing skills text Exposition. The results of the research there are three, as follows. First, critical reading skills of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan qualified enough, with an average value of 57.08 is under the KKM (75). Second, the skills of writing a text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan qualified enough, with an average value of 59.67 is under the KKM (75). Third, there is a positive and significant contribution between critical reading skills with writing skills text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan at significant level 95% and the degrees of freedom (dk) = n-1 because thitung > ttabel IE 3.03 > 1.68.  Based on the results of this study it was concluded that there is a linear relationship between critical reading skills with writing skills text exposition of grade VIII SMP Negeri 1 Mapat Tunggul Selatan with a confidence level of 95%. In other words, if the student's critical reading skills are good, then the exposition text writing skills students are also good. In contrast, when bad Exposition text skills, then writing skills students also bad Exposition text. Kata Kunci: Kontribusi, Membaca Kritis, Menulis Teks Eksposisi

Abstract

 ABSTRACT The purpose of this study describe (1) the ability of reading  news comprehension class X SMK Negeri 2 Painan, (2) the ability to write  news class X students of SMK Negeri 2 Painan, (3) the relationship of reading news comprehension skills with the ability to write an news SMK Negeri 2 class X Painan. The data in this study were collected by using objective test and a performance test. The findings of the study (1) the ability of reading news comprehension class X students of  SMK Negeri 2 Painan are in more than enough qualification (71,09), (2) the ability to write news class X students of SMK Negeri 2 Painan are more than enough to qualify (73,61), (3) there is a significant relationship between reading news comprehension skills with the ability to write news class X SMK Negeri 2 Painan. Kata kunci : membaca pemahaman berita, menulis berita

Abstract

                                                   ABSTRACTThis article is written to determine the correlation of reading comprehension skills to the skill of writing a text description of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 V Koto Kp. Dalam Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. This research is a quantitative research by using descriptive correlational design. The variables in this study, namely reading comprehension skills as a variable X and writing skills of description text as a variable Y. The research instruments are an objective test and test performance. This research data is the result score skill tests readingcomprehension and writing skills test score results of the description text. The test results was compared using t-test formula to determine the correlation of reading comprehension skills to the skill of writing a text description of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 V Koto Kp. Dalam Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. The are three results in this study. First, the reading comprehension skills of students of class VII SMP Negeri 1 V Koto Kp. Dalam Kabupaten PadangPariaman are in a good qualifying with an average value of 82.79. Second, the text description writing skills of students of class VII SMP Negeri 1 V Koto Kp. Dalam Kabupaten Padang Pariaman are in a good qualifying with an average of 82.11. Third, based on the t-test results, it was concluded that there is a correlation had been reading comprehension skills of the students' writing skills of description text class VII SMP Negeri 1 V Kto Kp. Dalam Kabupaten Padang Pariaman because table value <thitung (1.80 <3,13).Kata kunci: korelasi, membaca pemahaman, menulis, teks deskripsi
