Abstract

This study aims to analyze global trends in sports psychology, mental health, and athlete performance during the 2014-2024 period. A bibliometric approach was employed, analyzing 324 documents sourced from Scopus-indexed databases. The dataset comprised English-language articles with final publication status. Data processing utilized OpenRefine to remove duplicates, standardize formatting, and filter irrelevant entries, ensuring high-quality data. Analytical techniques included VOSviewer and Biblioshiny to map publication trends, keyword distributions, and thematic relationships. Results revealed an annual publication growth rate of 37.41 percent, an average document age of 3.17 years, and a mean of 13.36 citations per document. International collaborations accounted for 32.1 percent of the publications, with the United States contributing 70 documents, followed by the United Kingdom and Australia, each with 50-60 documents. Cluster analysis identified key themes such as mental health, psychological well-being, and athlete performance, along with emerging topics like community-based interventions and modern technological applications. This study offers a comprehensive overview of the literature trends in this field, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based, multidisciplinary strategies to effectively support athlete mental health and performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of social media on the training patterns and motivation of amateur athletes in the digital era. The digital era has transformed various aspects of human life, including sports. Social media has now become a platform used not only for social interaction but also as a source of information, inspiration, and motivation for amateur athletes in their training programs. This study used qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach, involving 30 amateur athletes from various sports in the Jakarta area and its surroundings. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of respondents' social media content. The results indicate that social media has a significant impact on amateur athletes' training patterns, both positively and negatively. Positive impacts include increased motivation through inspirational content, broader access to information on training techniques, and the formation of a supportive virtual community. However, negative impacts were also found, including psychological stress due to social comparison, the spread of inaccurate information, and the potential for addiction to social validation. This study concludes that social media use needs to be managed wisely to provide optimal benefits for amateur athletes' development without causing detrimental negative impacts.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of coaches in developing the fighting spirit of young athletes in soccer clubs. Fighting spirit is a fundamental psychological aspect that determines an athlete's success in competition, but its development is often overlooked in the training process. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design at three soccer clubs in West Java. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with coaches and young athletes (aged 14-18), participant observation during training and matches, and analysis of training program documents. The results revealed that the coach's role in developing the fighting spirit of athletes is complex and multidimensional, encompassing functions as an effective communicator, a creator of a conducive training environment, an individual motivator, a role model, and a manager of realistic expectations. Successful coaches are those who are able to create positive interpersonal relationships, provide constructive feedback, consistently apply standards, and understand the psychological characteristics of young athletes. The findings also demonstrate the importance of balancing challenge and support in developing athletes' mental resilience. This study provides a theoretical contribution to understanding the psychological dimensions of coaching and practical applications for developing holistic athlete training programs. Recommendations include improving coaches' competency in sport psychology, developing a comprehensive evaluation system, and longitudinal research to understand the long-term impact of coaching on career athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the various psychological challenges faced by novice athletes in dealing with competitive pressure. The method used was a qualitative approach with a phenomenological study design, involving 24 novice athletes aged 16 to 20 years from various sports. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The results showed that novice athletes experience complex competitive pressures, including somatic anxiety, cognitive anxiety, social pressure, and fear of failure. The main factors causing this pressure are a lack of competitive experience, unrealistic expectations from the environment, and a lack of psychological support within the coaching system. The impact of this pressure not only affects physical performance but also the psychological well-being of athletes. This study suggests the importance of integrating sports psychology programs into youth athlete coaching curricula and the need for more systematic psychological support for novice athletes

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of group dynamics and relationships between players in building strong basketball teams. A strong basketball team relies not only on individual technical ability but also on the quality of group interactions and cohesion. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method on three university-level basketball teams in Jakarta. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with players and coaches, and documentation analysis. The results showed that positive group dynamics significantly contributed to a 73% increase in team performance. Key factors influencing team strength include effective communication, trust between players, distributive leadership, and conflict resolution skills. Strong interpersonal relationships have been shown to improve coordination in the game, improve collective decision-making, and improve team resilience under competitive pressure. This research contributes to the development of sport psychology theory, particularly in the context of team sports, and provides practical recommendations for coaches in optimizing group dynamics to enhance basketball team performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze effective physical education teaching strategies for improving the performance of young athletes in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through literature review and field observations, this study examines various teaching methods that have been proven effective in developing the performance of young athletes. The results indicate that effective teaching strategies include a holistic approach that integrates technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects. The implementation of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model, a multilateral approach, and the use of technology in learning have been shown to have a positive impact on improving the performance of young athletes. Furthermore, personalized training programs, providing constructive feedback, and creating a positive learning environment are key factors for success. This study recommends the implementation of student-centered teaching strategies that consider the individual characteristics of young athletes and the importance of continuous professional development for coaches and physical education teachers.

Abstract

Physical education faces significant challenges in the digital era and post-COVID-19 pandemic, where sedentary lifestyles are increasingly concerning and the health of the younger generation is a major concern. This study aims to analyze the transformations needed in physical education to create a healthier future for students. The research methodology uses a qualitative approach with a comprehensive literature review of 45 published scientific articles from 2020-2024, an analysis of physical education policies in Indonesia, and a review of physical education best practices in various countries. The results indicate that the transformation of physical education requires the integration of digital technology, a more holistic learning approach, the development of health literacy, and adaptation to the needs of the digital native generation. Key findings indicate the need for a paradigm shift from learning focused solely on motor skills to comprehensive health education encompassing physical, mental, and social aspects. This transformation involves the use of fitness apps, gamification of learning, project-based health learning, and the integration of mindfulness concepts into physical activity. The study's conclusions emphasize that future physical education must be adaptive, inclusive, and technology-based while maintaining the essence of physical activity as a foundation for health. Implementing this transformation requires strong policy support, ongoing teacher training, and multi-stakeholder collaboration between schools, families, and communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of individual skills in the dynamics of the futsal team at SMAS Pesantren IMMIM. Futsal, as a team sport, requires a balance between individual abilities and solid teamwork. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational survey design. The research population consists of all students enrolled in the futsal team at SMAS Pesantren IMMIM, totaling 24 individuals, with a sample selected using total sampling technique. The research instruments include a futsal individual skill test and a validated team dynamics questionnaire. The results of the study indicate a significant positive correlation between individual skills and futsal team dynamics (r = 0.742, p < 0.01). Dribbling skills contribute the most to team dynamics (38.2%), followed by passing accuracy (32.7%) and shooting precision (29.1%). These findings indicate that improving individual skills can strengthen team cohesion, communication, and collective performance. This study has practical implications for the development of futsal training programs that integrate the improvement of individual skills with the formation of positive team dynamics.
