Abstract

This study aims to develop “The Jungle Adventure” game-based learning material to stimulate concentration in early childhood. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method, which includes needs analysis, information gathering, product design, validation, testing, and product revision. The research subjects consisted of one subject matter expert, one media expert, two teachers from Kindergarten Class A2, and 11 children aged 3–4 years at Kindergarten Class A2 of Labschool UN PGRI Kediri. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, an expert validation questionnaire, and a teacher practicality questionnaire. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using percentages. The results showed that the media received 100% subject matter expert validation and 95% media expert validation, both categorized as “highly valid.” The results of the teacher practicality test reached 92.5%, categorized as “highly practical.” A limited pilot test showed positive responses from children toward the media as well as an increase in children’s concentration, as indicated by an increase in the “Developing as Expected” and “Developing Very Well” categories. Thus, the “The Jungle Adventure” media is deemed valid, practical, and suitable for use in stimulating concentration in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ecoprint batik activities on the fine motor skills of 5-6-year-old children at Pertiwi Pemwilda Kindergarten. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The study sample consisted of 20 children selected using a purposive sampling technique, consisting of 10 children in the experimental group who were given ecoprint batik activities and 10 children in the control group who were given collage activities. Data collection techniques included observation, testing, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with the help of SPSS version 26. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the average fine motor skills of the experimental group increased from 16.00 in the pre-test to 20.70 in the post-test, while the control group increased from 15.80 to 16.60. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed that the experimental group obtained a Z value = -2.859 with a significance of 0.004 (< 0.05), while the control group obtained a significance value of 0.066 (>0.05), so that the increase in the control group was not statistically significant. The effect size value of r = 0.904 indicates that ecoprint batik activities have a large influence on improving children's fine motor skills, especially in aspects of eye and hand coordination, finger flexibility, movement accuracy, and independence in completing tasks. Thus, ecoprint batik activities have a significant effect on improving the fine motor skills of children aged 5-6 years at Pertiwi Pemwilda Kindergarten.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has long-term impacts on growth and development as well as the quality of human resources. One of the efforts to address stunting is through the implementation of effective communication strategies and synergy between schools, teachers, and parents. This study aims to describe and analyze the communication strategies of school principals, teachers' parenting patterns, and parents' parenting patterns in handling stunting towards healthy, intelligent, and cheerful children at Noor Latifah Kindergarten in Gambut District. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study type. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman 2014 model, which includes data collection, data presentation, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that school principals implement interpersonal, vertical, and diagonal communication, as well as social mobilization through partnerships with parents and community health centers. Teachers apply a collaborative educational parenting approach through promoting healthy living habits and meaningful learning, in collaboration with parents. Parents practice a democratic parenting style by ensuring proper nutrition, caregiving, and fostering healthy habits in their children at home. Effective and collaborative communication strategies are proven to support a holistic and integrative approach to stunting management.

Abstract

This study examined the mediating role of parent-child attachment in the relationship between parenting stress and early childhood social-emotional development among dual-career families in Indonesia. The phenomenon of dual-career families has increased rapidly, with more than 70% of Indonesian families having both parents working. Time constraints and job demands often lead to parenting stress, which may compromise the quality of parent-child interaction and attachment. Despite extensive research on these variables separately, limited studies have integrated them into a comprehensive mediation model, particularly in non-Western contexts. This study employed a sequential explanatory mixed-method design. A quantitative survey involved 250 dual-career parents with children aged 3-6 years from SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan Klaten and SD IT Al Furqoon Klaten, followed by in-depth interviews with 20 participants. Instruments included the Parenting Stress Index (PSI), Attachment Style Questionnaire (ASQ), and Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA). Results showed that 68% of dual-career parents experienced moderate to high parenting stress. Parenting stress was significantly negatively correlated with secure parent-child attachment (r = -0.52, p < 0.01) and children's social-emotional development (r = -0.48, p < 0.01). Mediation analysis revealed that parent-child attachment partially mediated this relationship (indirect effect = -0.23, 95% CI [-0.31, -0.15]), with 46% of the total effect occurring through reduced attachment quality. Qualitative findings supported these results, demonstrating that parental exhaustion led to reduced responsiveness and insecure attachment. These findings contribute to attachment theory by empirically demonstrating the mediation mechanism in a non-Western context. Implications include the need for family-based interventions and family-friendly school policies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teacher motivational scaffolding strategies in stimulating early childhood multiliteracy at RA Al Ikhlas, Takalar Regency. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with research subjects comprising the school principal, class B teachers, and students. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teachers have implemented motivational scaffolding strategies in daily learning activities, although these have not been formally documented in school policies. These strategies are manifested through the provision of prompting questions, positive reinforcement, gradual assistance, emotional support, and exploratory support. The implementation of motivational scaffolding strategies occurs during the opening, core, and closing phases of learning, integrating various aspects of multiliteracy, namely literacy, numeracy, science, digital, financial, and cultural and civic literacy. Interview and observation results indicate that these strategies effectively enhance children's engagement, self-confidence, and motivation in participating in learning activities. Children appeared more active in asking questions, expressing opinions, recognizing symbols, counting, exploring the environment, using simple digital media, understanding the concept of saving, and demonstrating cooperative attitudes and appreciation for local culture. Thus, motivational scaffolding strategies represent a learning approach that can meaningfully support early childhood multiliteracy stimulation.

Abstract

This study aims to explain early detection in the psychological development of early childhood. Psychological development during early childhood serves as a critical foundation for character formation, learning abilities, and future social relationships. This research employs a library research approach with stages including scientific review, theoretical study of all research objects, and theoretical analysis. The study is expected to assist parents and educators in understanding various theories addressing early detection of psychological development in early childhood. The findings indicate that theoretically, there are two main conclusions: first, early childhood developmental psychology is the science studying mental, physical, cognitive, linguistic, moral, and socio-emotional development; second, early detection is essential in monitoring psychological development during early childhood. The study emphasizes that early childhood represents a golden period wherein rapid development occurs across all domains, making it imperative for parents and educators to understand developmental milestones and potential deviations. Early detection enables timely intervention, preventing more severe developmental challenges. The synergy between family, school, and community environments plays a pivotal role in supporting optimal psychological growth. This paper underscores the importance of understanding early childhood developmental psychology as a foundation for improving the quality of education and childcare in Indonesia. Furthermore, the study highlights that psychological development is influenced by both innate factors and environmental stimulation, necessitating a holistic approach to early childhood education that integrates cognitive, linguistic, socio-emotional, moral, and motor development proportionally.
