Abstract

Based on serial story media in improving students’ speaking skills. Using a quantitative experimental design, data were collected through both test and non-test techniques. The test instrument consisted of a conversation test, while non-test instruments included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The findings revealed that the experimental class showed greater improvement in scores than the control class. The control class had an average pre-test score of 48.88 and a post-test score of 56.52, while the experimental class improved from 50.04 to 62.48. The Mann-Whitney test results obtained an Asymp. Sig value of 0.025 < 0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Thus, Pop-Up Book-based serial story media was proven effective in enhancing the speaking skills of class X students at MA Al Asror Semarang. Non-test data supported these results, showing positive changes in students’ responses, understanding, and attitudes, as well as favorable interview feedback that confirmed students’ enthusiasm and engagement during the learning process. Previous research has developed Pop-Up-based serial story media, whereas this study examines its effectiveness using the same background but at a different school. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using the Gamilab application on Arabic language learning outcomes among tenth-grade students at MAN 3 Tanah Datar. The study was motivated by low learning outcomes among students in Arabic subjects and the limited use of interactive, technology-based learning media in schools. The research employed a quantitative pre-experimental design, specifically the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of all tenth-grade students (28), selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using pretest and posttest instruments and analyzed using a paired-samples t-test in SPSS. The results showed a significant difference between the pretest mean score of 50.00 and the posttest mean score of 88.68. The t-test significance value of p < 0.001 (< 0.05) indicated that the use of the Gamilab application had a significant effect on improving students' Arabic learning outcomes. Preliminary evidence from this study suggests that gamification-based platforms may enhance language learning outcomes. It indicates a positive contribution to the integration of interactive technology in Arabic language instruction. These findings offer theoretical implications for the development of digital learning media frameworks, particularly in the context of technology-mediated language pedagogy. Abstract

This study discusses the development of the “Froggy Jumps” game for teaching Arabic grammar to first-grade students at MTs Perguruan Mu’allimat Cukir Jombang. The study was conducted because grammar instruction was still dominated by traditional lecture methods, which caused students to feel bored and less engaged during the learning process. This research aimed to describe the implementation of grammar learning, develop the “Froggy Jumps” interactive game, and determine its effectiveness in improving students’ understanding of the topic Anwa‘ al-Kalimah. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method based on the ADDIE model, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The instruments included pre-test and post-test, questionnaires, and expert validation sheets. The results showed that the developed game received very high validation scores from experts for content, media quality, and usability. Furthermore, learning outcomes improved significantly after using the game, with an N-Gain score of 0.72, which is categorized as high. The students also responded positively, considering the game enjoyable, easy to use, and helpful for understanding grammar rules. Therefore, the “Froggy Jumps” game is effective in improving students’ grammar learning outcomes and learning motivation. Keywords: Froggy Jumps Game, Grammar Instruction

Abstract

Arabic grammar is considered one of the most important branches of the Arabic language; however, many students encounter difficulties in understanding grammatical concepts due to their abstract nature and the continued reliance of some teachers on traditional instructional methods. In response to this issue, this study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using Canva as an instructional medium for teaching Arabic grammar through Matn al-Ajurrumiyyah and to examine its impact on students’ grammatical achievement at Nurul Hakim Islamic Boarding School in West Lombok. This study employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design. The population consisted of 115 students, while the sample comprised 30 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews and tests and were analyzed using the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) test and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings revealed a substantial improvement in students’ performance, with the mean score increasing from 51.67 on the pretest to 90.93 on the posttest. The N-Gain score reached 0.79, indicating a high level of effectiveness. Furthermore, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) was less than 0.001, indicating a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Therefore, the study concludes that the use of Canva is effective for teaching Arabic grammar and positively impacts students’ grammatical achievement at Nurul Hakim Islamic Boarding School, West Lombok. The significance of this study lies in providing a practical model for integrating digital learning media into Arabic grammar instruction, thereby contributing to the development of Arabic language teaching strategies in Islamic educational institutions and supporting the integration of modern technology into the teaching and learning process.
