Abstract

Background: Betel quid chewing is associated with the periodontal status, in which it may increase the risk and severity of periodontal disease. The objectives of this narrative review were to provide an overview of the literature about the association between betel quid chewing habit and periodontal status. Methods: The review analyzed several studies that examined the habit of betel quid chewing and its association with periodontitis in different populations. Results: Betel quid chewing was associated with a high prevalence of bleeding on sulcus probing, plaque index, gingival inflammation, deeper probing depth, and greater attachment loss. Additionally, the severity of periodontal disease was enhanced in subjects chewing betel quid with tobacco and alcohol consumption. Discussions: These results could be due to common components detected in the chewed substances and the synergistic effect between smoking and alcohol consumption with betel quid chewing habit. Conclusions: Prolonged and excessive use of betel quid can induce significant adverse effects on human health, including an increased risk of periodontitis. The findings of this review highlight the importance of addressing the impact of betel quid chewing on periodontal status.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a serious medical condition and can increase the risk of other diseases. This disease causes premature death worldwide, with >1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women suffering from this disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the frequency of food consumption, diversity of food consumption and stress levels in the elderly in Pekon Sumber Agung, Ambarawa District, Pringsewu Regency. Sampling used purposive sampling. The population in this study were the elderly in Pekon Sumber Agung, Ambarawa District, Pringsewu Regency. The number of samples was 55 elderly people. Data were collected by direct interviews with respondents and analyzed bivariately using the Gamma test Method: This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional research design. Results: The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the frequency of food consumption (p-0.005), diversity of food consumption (p-0.001), and stress levels (p-0.001) with hypertension in the elderly in Pekon Sumber Agung, Ambarawa District, Pringsewu Regency. Conclusion: hypertension in the elderly is caused by the frequency of food consumption, the diversity of food consumption that is not diverse enough and stress levels. Suggestions for Pekon Sumber Agung, Ambarawa District, Pringswu Regency with the results of this study, the researcher hopes that routine posyandu will be carried out in every hamlet and more activities will be added at the elderly posyandu such as elderly gymnastics and nutritional counseling

Abstract

Complementary feeding is one of the factors that affect the nutritional status of infants/toddlers, complementary feeding is basically adult-like food that is pulverized so that it can be digested properly by babies. Factors that influence mothers' actions in providing complementary foods are knowledge, age, education and parity. This study aims to determine the relationship between breastfeeding history, complementary feeding and energy intake, macronutrients with the incidence of stunting in infants aged 6-24 months in Jatimakmur urban village, Bekasi city. This type of research is descriptive analytic with a Cross Sectional approach. The sample in this study were 40 mothers who had babies aged 6-24 months in Jatimakmur village, Bekasi city. Data analysis was performed with the Chi-Square test. The results showed no relationship between maternal knowledge and breastfeeding and complementary feeding (p=0.521) (p=1.0), no relationship between maternal age and breastfeeding and complementary feeding (p=0.499) (p=1.0), no relationship between maternal education and breastfeeding and complementary feeding (p=0, 171) (p=1.0), there is no relationship between maternal parity with breastfeeding and complementary feeding (p=0.332) (p=1.0), there is no relationship between energy intake and macronutrients with the incidence of stunting, energy (p=1.0), protein (p=1.0), fat (p=0.514) and carbohydrates (p=1.0). ABSTRAK MP-ASI merupakan salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi status gizi bayi/balita, MP-ASI pada dasarnya merupakan makanan seperti orang dewasa yang dilumatkan agar bisa dicerna dengan baik oleh bayi. Faktor yang mempengaruhi tindakan ibu dalam pemberian MP-ASI yaitu pengetahuan, usia, pendidikan dan paritas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan riwayat pemberian ASI, MP-ASI dan asupan energi, zat gizi makro dengan kejadian stunting bayi usia 6 – 24 bulan di kelurahan Jatimakmur kota Bekasi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan Cross Sectional. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu 40 orang ibu yang memiliki bayi usia 6 – 24 bulan di kelurhan Jatimakmur kota Bekasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukan tidak ada hubungan pengetahuan ibu dengan pemberian ASI dan MP-ASI (p=0,521) (p=1,0), tidak ada hubungan umur ibu dengan pemberian ASI dan MP-ASI (p=0,499) (p=1,0), tidak ada hubungan antatra pendidikan ibu dengan pemberian ASI dan MP-ASI (p=0,171) (p=1,0), tidak ada hubungan antara paritas ibu dengan pemberian ASI dan MP-ASI (p=0,332) (p=1,0), tidak ada hubungan antara asupan energi dan zat gizi makro dengan kejadian stunting, energi (p=1,0), protein (p=1,0), lemak (p=0,514) dan karbohidrat (p=1,0).

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Diabetes melitus tipe 2 disebut juga dengan diabetes melitus noninsulin dependent (NIDDM) merupakan penyakit yang terjadi karena resistensi insulin dan kecacatan dalam produksi insulin. Kondisi DM tidak terkontrol menyebabkan bertambahnya risiko terjadinya komplikasi seperti ulkus diabetikum. Ulkus diabetikum merupakan salah satu komplikasi dari DM berupa luka kronik, umumnya terjadi pada daerah dibawah pergelangan kaki dan berhubungan dengan peningkatan morbiditas, mortalitas, dan penurunan kualitas hidup. C-Reaktif Protein dan sel Polimorfonuklear (PMN) merupakan biomarker inflamasi. Metode: studi ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kadar C-Reactive Protein dengan jumlah sel Polimorfonuclear pada penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2 disertai ulkus diabetikum. Jenis peneliian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan rancangan post-test design. Sampel ditentukan dengan teknik pengambilan sampel saturated sampling pada pasien di RSUD Syarifah Ambami Rato Ebu Bangkalan yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi. Sampel dianalisa dengan alat Architect plus c4000 untuk mengetahui kadar C-Reactive Protein dan dianalisa dengan alat Cell Dyn Ruby untuk mengetahui jumlah sel Polimorfonuclear. Hasil: penelitian diadapatkan 27 sampel dan di uji korelasi dengan uji Spearman menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif antara kadar C-Reactive Protein dengan sel neutrofil (p =0,001 ; r =0,608) dan hubungan negatif antara kadar C-Ractive Protein dengan sel eosinofil dan basofil (p =0,001 ; r =-0,581 : p =0,007 ; r =-0,507) Kesimpulan: kadar C-Reactive Protein dan ekspresi sel Polimorfonuclear yang terdiri dari sel neutrofil, sel eosinofil dan sel basofil pada penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2 disertai ulkus menunjukkan hasil terdapat korelasi searah dengan kekuatan erat antara kadar CRP dan jumlah sel neutrofil. Sedangkan kadar CRP dengan sel eosinofil dan basofil terdapat korelasi tidak searah dengan kekuatan sedang.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Keluhan musculoskeletal merupakan salah satu contoh penyakit akibat kerja yang dapat timbul di tempat kerja. Keluhan pergelangan tangan dan telapak tangan adanya tanda-tanda dan gejala mati rasa jari. Tendinitis merupakan salah satu keluhan pergelangan pada tangan yang salah satunya disebabkan oleh faktor pekerjaan seperti postur yang tidak baik secara terus menerus dapat menyebabkan inflamasi pada tendon. Pemberian tendon and nerve gliding exercise sebagai salah satu penanganan terhadap keluhan pada tangan yang dapat mengurangi rasa nyeri pada terowongan carpal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh tendon and nerve gliding exercise terhadap penurunan nyeri gerak pergelangan tangan pada pekerja jaja gipang di UD.Mutiara Indah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh tendon and nerve gliding exercise terhadap penurunan nyeri gerak pergelangan tangan pada pekerja jaja gipang di UD.Mutiara Indah. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dengan design one group pre-test and post-test dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Dengan jumlah sampel dalam penelitian adalah 9 orang pekerja jaja gipang. Intervensi dilakukan selama 4 minggu dengan frekuensi 3 kali seminggu. pengukuran nyeri dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat ukur visual analog scale (VAS) sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Hasil: Hasil analisis data menggunakan Paired Sample T-Test menunjukan nilai signifikan yaitu 0,000 (p<0,005) sehingga terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan setelah pemberian intervensi. Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa, dapat disimpulkan bahwa tendon and nerve gliding exercise berpengaruh terhadap penurunan nyeri pergelangan tangan pada pekerja jaja gipang di UD. Abstract

Background: Air pollution is a foreign material or substance in the air that causes changes in the composition of the air from its normal state. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless and odorless gas that can be dangerous if inhaled in large quantities. Sources of CO gas in the air include motor vehicles, as well as household items such as heaters that use kerosene and gas stoves. Carbon monoxide will replace oxygen in red blood cells, which can increase carboxyhemoglobin levels in the blood. Street vendors are people who sell goods and services in public spaces, especially on sidewalks or road shoulders, so they are at risk of being exposed to CO gas continuously. Method : This study uses an observational approach with a cross-sectional research design. The population in this study were street vendors on roads that are frequently passed by vehicles and rarely passed by vehicles as many as 30 samples, with a purposive sampling method. Results : CO levels in locations frequently passed by vehicles were 13 ppm while in places rarely passed by vehicles were 11 ppm and had an average COHb level of respondents in locations frequently passed by vehicles of 0.64% while in respondents in locations rarely passed by vehicles of 0.49%. Conclusion : There is a significant difference between COHb levels in street vendors on roads frequently and rarely passed by vehicles in the Purbalingga area, as evidenced by the Independent T Test result value of p = 0.010 (<0.05). There is a relationship between carbon monoxide levels and COHb levels in street vendors in the Purbalingga area, as evidenced by a p value of 0.001 (p <0.05). Abstract

Background: Hypertension or more often called high blood pressure is a condition when blood pressure exceeds normal limits, systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of giving baked brownies with breadfruit flour and potato flour on the blood pressure of hypertension sufferers at the Pratama Derisman Clinic. Methods: This research consisted of 2 stages, the first stage used a non-factorial completely randomized design with a Pre Test - Post Test with Control Group Design research design. The sample in this study was 60 hypertension patients without complications, taken by purposive sampling. Data analysis used the Friedman test and t-dependent test, Results: Based on the results of research that has been conducted on hypertensive patients at the Derisman Primary Clinic, it can be concluded that the average systolic blood pressure of hypertensive patients who received Bronsunta and the consumption of antihypertensive drugs in the treatment group was 157.87 mmHg before treatment and 157.10 mmHg after treatment. The mean diastolic blood pressure was 93 mmHg before treatment and 90 mmHg after treatment. The average blood pressure of hypertensive patients who only consumed antihypertensive drugs in the comparison group was 157.67 mmHg before treatment and 157.23 mmHg after treatment. The mean diastolic blood pressure was 91 mmHg before treatment and 92 mmHg after treatment. This means that baked brownies with the addition of breadfruit flour and potato starch have an effect on lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Based on the research results, it can be concluded that baked brownies with the addition of breadfruit flour and potato flour have an effect on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients

Abstract

Background: Hypercholesterolemia is a problem that many people complain about, especially DMPA birth control acceptors (Depo Medroxy Progesterone Acetate). The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between fatty eating patterns and physical activity with the incidence of hypercholesterolemia in Ana Amalia's PMB. Methods: This research uses a type of Observational research with a cross sectional design. The population was 63 people with a sample size of 54 people and used the chi square test. Results: Ha was accepted, which means there is a relationship between fatty eating patterns and physical activity and the incidence of hypercholesterolemia in Ana Amalia's PMB. Conclusion: There is a close relationship between fatty eating patterns and physical activity and the incidence of hypercholesterolemia. The more frequently DMPA contraceptive acceptors consume fatty foods, the greater the incidence of hypercholesterolemia, as well as physical activity, people who do light physical activity tend to suffer from hypercholesterolemia, this is because fat in the body is not burned.

Abstract

Background: Body composition is part of body fat and non-fat tissue, measured as percentage of a person's body weight. Body composition is essential as a health parameter. Various factors influence body composition. In middle school-age teenagers with busy academic activities and unhealthy eating behavior, body composition becomes a problem not only for health but also aesthetics, which will ultimately affect a teenager's level of self-confidence. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between eating behavior and physical activity with body composition in high school-age adolescents. Methods: This was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The subjects were 93 male and female students aged 16-18 years at State High School 95 Jakarta. Sampling was taken using the Cluster Simple Random Sampling technique. Physical activity was measured using the International Physical Activity Questionnaires (IPAQ), eating behavior was evaluated using the Food Preference Questionnaire (FPQ) and body composition was assessed using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Results: There is a significant relationship between eating behavior and visceral fat (p= 0.001), total fat (p= 0.004), muscle mass (p= 0.014). There was no significant relationship between physical activity and body composition, namely visceral fat (p= 0.132), total fat (p= 0.755), muscle mass (p= 0.072). Conclusion: Eating behavior is significantly related to body composition in high school age adolescents, but not to physical activity. Keywords : Eating behavior, physical activity, body composition.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) merupakan tanaman herba yang memiliki senyawa aktif berupa minyak atsiri, alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid, steroid, tannin dan fenol yang bermanfaat sebagai anti jerawat. Salah satu jenis jerawat yang sering dialami yaitu komedo. Komedo seringkali muncul dibagian hidung dan mengganggu penampilan. Daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dan dapat diformulasikan dalam sediaan masker peel-off komedo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengevaluasi sediaan masker peel-off komedo yang dibuat dari ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) dengan basis gliserin dan matriks PVA. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan tiga formula yang dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi gliserin dan matriks PVA. Masker peel-off komedo yang telah dibuat akan diuji evaluasi sediaan selama penyimpanan yang meliputi: uji organoleptis, homogentitas, waktu pengeringan, daya sebar, daya lekat dan uji pH. Hasil: Masker Peel Off Komedo ekstrak etanol daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) memenuhi persyaratan kestabilan uji fisik yang meliputi uji organoleptis, homogenitas, waktu mengering, daya sebar, daya lekat, dan uji pH selama 28 hari penyimpanan. Kesimpulan: Variasi konsentrasi PVA sebagai gelling agent dan Gliserin sebagai humektan berpengaruh terhadap konsistensi, daya lekat, daya sebar, dan waktu mengering masker peel-off yang dimana semakin tinggi konsentrasi PVA dan semakin rendah konsentrasi gliserin maka konsistensinya akan semakin meningkat, daya lekat semakin lama, daya sebar dan waktu mengering semakin menurun. Kata Kunci : Daun kemangi, Masker peel-off komedo
