Abstract

Etika lingkungan hidup dapat diartikan sebagai disiplin ilmu yang membahas nilai, norma, dan prinsip moral yang mengatur tingkah laku manusia terkait dengan lingkungan, serta nilai dan prinsip moral yang mendasari sikap manusia dalam interaksinya dengan lingkungan. Etika lingkungan hidup memperhitungkan keberadaan moral semua makhluk, tidak hanya manusia, dalam lingkup perhatian moral manusia. Novel Kekal karya Jalu Kancana menceritakan kegiatan eksploitasi yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan tambang panas bumi di Kawasan Cagar Alam Kamojang. Penelitian ini membahas paradigma etika lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan paradigma etika lingkungan aposentrisme, ekosentrisme,dan bosentrisme. Metode analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis isi. Sumber data penelitian ini ialah novel dengan judul Kekal karya Jalu Kancana yang diterbitkan oleh Buku Mojok di Sleman Yogyakarta tahun 2019. Hasil analisis menunjukkan sudut pandang antroposentrisme yang memandang manusia sebagai pusat peradaban, sudut pandang ekosentrisme ditandai dengan hubungan antara sesama makhluk hidup dan ekologi yang mana ekologi lebih penting daripada ekonomi, dan sudut pandang biosentrisme dapat dilihat dari hubungan makhluk hidup dengan makhluk hidup lain yang memiliki hak untuk hidup dan diperlakukan setara.

Abstract

Adaptasi novel populer menjadi film sering ditemukan pada masa ini. Fenomena tersebut menarik untuk dikaji guna mengetahui perubahan-perubahan yang terjadi dalam ekranisasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ekranisasi yang terjadi pada tuturan tokoh berdasarkan jenis dan fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi dalam novel Surat dari Kematian ke bentuk film Surat dari Kematian, beserta implementasi dalam pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian kualitatif. Pendekatan penelitian yaitu kualitatif naturalistik. Sumber data berupa novel dan film Surat dari Kematian. Data pada penelitian ini adalah tuturan para tokoh dalam novel dan film Surat dari Kematian yang mengalami ekranisasi berdasarkan jenis dan fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis ditemukan 101 tuturan yang mengalami ekranisasi yaitu 57 penciutan, 17 penambahan, dan 27 perubahan bervariasi. Ekranisasi tersebut dianalisis berdasarkan jenis tindak tutur ilokusi yang terdiri atas tindak tutur representatif, ekspresif, direktif, dan komisif. Fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi berdasarkan hubungan fungsi tersebut dengan tujuan sosial terdiri atas fungsi kompetitif, konvivial, kolaboratif, dan konfliktif. Hasil penelitian ini dapat diimplementasikan dalam pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi pada mata kuliah Pragmatik. Penelitian ini dapat menjadi acuan mengenai penelitian ekranisasi atau tindak tutur ilokusi, penelitian gabungan dari keduanya, maupun penelitian tentang perbandingan karya sastra.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the forms of jargon used by WhatsApp users among students at the Toraja Christian University in Indonesia. This qualitative research relies on data collected from WhatsApp users among students at Toraja Christian University. The data is gathered through (1) reading techniques and (2) note-taking techniques. The results of this research indicate that, in terms of form, the jargon used by WhatsApp users among students at Toraja Christian University consists of four forms: basic word forms, abbreviation forms, phrase forms, and acronym forms.

Abstract

This paper presents students’ perception of the Genshin Impact game in their vocabulary mastery and 21st-century skills. The aim of the study was to describe how the Genshin Impact game contributes to 5th-semester students’ English vocabulary mastery in the English Education Major at the State Islamic University of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and improves their 21st-century skills. Through a descriptive qualitative method, the study aimed to inform students that there are other alternatives to learning English vocabulary in a more interesting way, such as playing the Genshin Impact game. Based on the result of the data analysis, the researchers found that playing the Genshin Impact game contributes to students’ vocabulary mastery and allows them to apply the vocabulary they have learned from the game according to the context. Additionally, the participants’ 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, increased after playing the Genshin Impact game. The researchers suggest that students can choose the Genshin Impact game as a medium to improve their vocabulary mastery and 21st-century skills.

Abstract

This research aims to examine students' perspectives on implementing the TikTok application as a medium for learning English in the modern era. Especially with the latest technological advances, in the post-pandemic COVID-19 social media can be used as a learning media such as YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok applications. TikTok can help students improve their English language proficiency, as well as what problems and difficulties arise when using the application as a vocabulary teaching tool and what difficulties students may encounter when using TikTok to learn new vocabulary. This research uses a qualitative design with a survey method where students fill out an online questionnaire using Google Forms and interviews. Questionnaires were given to students, and then students were interviewed. The participants were 30 students who took part in the English language learning program. The research results show that the students had a positive response to the use of TikTok in learning English vocabulary. TikTok ease of use and various functions, the TikTok application can be applied to learning activities to increase English vocabulary. This interactive learning media can provide much educational content about English vocabulary and make the learning process more efficient and effective for students. The implementation of This research makes it possible for educators. Content creator educators can easily create a learning process that attracts students' attention. It has been known that the TikTok application is efficient in increasing English vocabulary for students. Through the TikTok application, students can gain more vocabulary and continue to have fun learning by presenting information through interesting content, audio and visuals. Teachers can also process and develop various sources of interactive, interesting and unique TikTok content. So that it makes students interested in learning English and considers TikTok to be an effective medium for learning.

Abstract

The use of multimedia tools has proven beneficial for teaching basic English language skills in our present day. Several studies have demonstrated the result of using one of the media platforms, such as Spotify, where English songs and podcasts can help students learn and develop their listening skills. Despite its efficacy, few researchers have investigated students' attitudes to listening skills using English songs or podcasts on Spotify. The study examines students' perceptions of enhancing their listening skills through Spotify songs and podcasts. Over the academic year 2023/2024, this research was carried out at the Department of English Language Education, UIN Jakarta, with the participation of 10 first-year students. Qualitative description methods have been used in this survey, with data collected from questionnaires and presented by descriptive statistical analyses. The results show that most first-year English Education Department students think that English songs on Spotify are much more effective or beneficial than podcasts for enhancing listening comprehension.

Abstract

This study focused on implementing Daily Journal as a student’s writing activity. The study's objective is to impact the implementation of a daily journal on students' writing skills. The research method used in this study is quantitave. The subject of the study was 32 students majoring in English Education in one of Islamic University in Indonesia. Participants will take a pre and post-test and from there the researcher can compare their vocabulary and grammar skills in written form. The results of both tests will be subjected to a two-sample paired t-test analysis conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software program. The test resulted in a significance value of 5%, providing sufficient evidence for a statistical change in post-treatment testing. The results of this study indicate that Daily Journal is an effective tool in enhancing English writing skills among the students in university level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in reading comprehension ability and learning motivation between students who follow the Directed Reading and Thinking Activity (DRTA) model assisted by Padlet and students who follow the direct learning model. This research is a quasi-experiment with Non-Equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this study were ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Kubu in the 2022/2023 academic year consisting of three classes. The sample selection was carried out using Classroom Random Sampling technique and two classes were selected as samples, one class as the experimental group and the other class as the control group. Data collection was carried out using a reading comprehension ability test and a learning motivation questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed by MANCOVA with initial reading comprehension ability and initial learning motivation as covariates. The results showed that: First, there is a significant difference in reading comprehension ability and learning motivation together between students who follow the DRTA model assisted by Padlet and students who follow the direct learning model. Second, there is a significant difference in reading comprehension ability between students who follow the DRTA model assisted by Padlet and students who follow the direct learning model. Third, there is a significant difference in learning motivation between students who follow the DRTA model assisted by Padlet and students who follow the direct learning model. The implication of this research shows that to improve learning motivation and reading comprehension ability we can use DRTA model learning assisted by Padlet.

Abstract

Bahasa daerah merupakan sarana komunikasi bukan hanya antar masyarakat melainkan sebagai bagian dari pelestarian budaya maupun nilai karifan lokal. Salah satu bahasa daerah di Indonesia yang mengalami ancaman kepunahan adalah bahasa Gorontalo. Padahal, bahasa Gorontalo digunakan di berbagai kegiatan budaya, tradisi, dan upacra adat istiadat. Kondisi ini dipicu karena efek globalisasi dan juga rasa enggan berbahasa Gorontalo di kalangan generasi muda. Padahal jika bahasa Gorontalo punah, maka punah juga budaya yang ada sehingga masyarakat Gorontalo tidak akan lagi menerapkan nilai-nilai luhur yang ada. Salah satu upaya pelestarian bahasa Gorontalo dengan menambah bahan literasi. Bahan literasi yang dimaksud adalah buku cerita anak berjudul Saku Abah yang ditulis oleh Tri Utami Suleman. Dalam buku ini terdapat nilai lokalitas yang erat dengan dunia anak dan masyarakat Gorontalo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana nilai-nilai yang terdapat dalam buku tersebut dipandang dari sisi filsafat aksiologi atau filsafat nilai. Pisau analisis yang digunakan adalah hierarki nilai yang dicetuskan oleh Max Scheler. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi yaitu menganalisis bagaimana hierarki nilai Max Scheler dalam buku Saku Abah.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis kebutuhan awal untuk menghasilkan sebuah produk pembelajaran berupa buku teks pelajaran bahasa Inggris terintegrasi budaya melayu Riau untuk Siswa kelas X SMA di Pekanbaru. Jenis penelitian ini yakni penelitian pengembangan Research and Development (R & D) dengan menggunakan model penelitian pengembangan Borg dan Gall. Subjek penelitian ini yakni guru-guru bahasa Inggris, siswa kelas X SMA di Pekanbaru. Data diperoleh dari observasi, angket, dan wawancara. Kemudian data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis awal yang dilakukan di SMA YLPI Pekanbaru, guru belum mengimplementasikan buku teks terintegrasi budaya Melayu Riau dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris karena keterbatasan ketersediaan buku pelajaran yang mengintegrasikan unsur budaya Melayu Riau. Penelitian ini dapat berfungsi sebagai analisis awal kebutuhan buku teks yang dapat menjadi panduan bagi guru dalam menerapkan pembelajaran yang berakar pada kearifan lokal budaya Melayu Riau.
