Abstract

This qualitative study investigates the impact of streamers’ swearing on the morality of Vietnamese teenagers, a topic of increasing importance in the era of digital streaming and online entertainment. The research was conducted through semi-structured interviews with nine Vietnamese teenagers, providing in-depth insights into their perceptions and attitudes towards the language used by streamers and its influence on their behavior. The thematic analysis of the interview data revealed four key themes: normalization of swearing in digital spaces, delineation between online and offline behaviors, influence of streamers as role models, and critical reflection and selective adoption. The study found that while swearing by streamers was normalized in digital contexts, participants also demonstrated a clear distinction between acceptable behaviors in online and offline environments. Streamers were often viewed as influential role models, affecting the language and attitudes of the adolescents. However, participants also engaged in critical reflection, selectively adopting behaviors that aligned with their personal and cultural values. These findings contribute to the understanding of digital media’s impact on adolescent development, particularly in non-Western contexts. The study underscores the complex interplay between cultural norms, digital media consumption, and moral development, highlighting the need for comprehensive digital literacy and ethical content creation in the digital age.

Abstract

Science literacy skills in Indonesia are still relatively low. This study aims to analyze the need to develop learning media, especially digital storybooks, to improve the science literacy of fourth-grade elementary school students. The analysis involves literature studies, field studies with teacher interviews, and evaluating learners' science literacy abilities. The results of the analysis showed variations in learners' learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) and low science literacy needs. The teacher stated that the independent curriculum is used with learning activities that have applied science literacy, but it is still limited. The science literacy ability of students was recorded to be low, with an average percentage of 43.53%. Teachers see the need for innovation through digital learning media, especially picture storybooks, to increase students' interest and understanding of science material. Based on these findings, the development of digital storybooks can be an effective solution to improve the science literacy of fourth-grade students. It is hoped that implementing this media will help strengthen science literacy skills and improve the understanding of scientific concepts in everyday life. This research contributes to the field by providing evidence-based recommendations for integrating digital storybooks into the curriculum, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of science education in primary schools.

Abstract

The family serves as the initial gateway for young children to gain various valuable experiences, particularly in understanding character. Cultivating characters that reflect the values of the Indonesian nation is crucial for supporting the government's efforts to produce a golden generation by 2045. This research aims to determine parents' understanding of the family's role in children's character education. The research design is a case study, which explores various information related to parents' understanding in one of the schools in the Bandung area. The research sample consisted of three parents with children aged 3-6 years. The results indicate differences in parents' understanding of their role in early childhood character education. These differences encompass teaching roles, as some parents are not yet aware of effective teaching methods for young children, as well as roles in modeling, motivation, habituation, and rule enforcement. Parents need to learn more about the appropriate role of the family in early childhood character education. By enhancing parents' understanding of character education, there will be a positive impact on the creation of an advanced civilization with a strong national character.
