Abstract

This article elaborates on the development of comics in Indonesia, with particular attention to their previously marginalized position within the realm of education. Comics have long been dismissed in educational settings, often regarded as mere imaginative works whose image-dominated content was believed to discourage students from reading. In contrast to this view, comic scholars advocate a more serious appreciation of comics. Elements such as narrative structure, characterization, and the messages conveyed by comic authors constitute significant strengths that are comparable to those found in other esteemed forms of literature. This recognition has increasingly gained traction among contemporary educators. Consequently, comics—once prohibited in educational contexts—have now emerged as valuable learning resources across various levels of education in Indonesia

Abstract

This study examines communication strategies and actions in addressing stunting in Trinsing Village, Teweh Tengah District, North Barito Regency. Considering that the local community strongly adheres to cultural traditions and ancestral beliefs, cultural communication is considered essential as a behavior change approach to prevent stunting. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method through observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews with five key informants, and documentation. Data were analyzed through transcription, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that local health centers (puskesmas) play a central role in providing stimulus through counseling and consultation, while community health posts (posyandu) contribute to child growth monitoring and nutrition education. Community responses vary, influenced by individual and group characteristics; however, behavior change tends to occur when the stimulus is well received. This study emphasizes the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration, highlighting behavior change communication strategies as a key approach to raising awareness of child nutrition and health..

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious moderation in fostering tolerance among Hindu Kaharingan communities in Barito Utara Regency. Religious moderation is considered an essential strategy to strengthen interreligious harmony, particularly in regions characterized by cultural and religious diversity such as Barito Utara. This research employed a qualitative approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study. The findings reveal that the values of religious moderation are internalized through religious education, customary activities, and social interactions among religious communities. Huma Betang, as a symbol of Dayak communal life, also serves as an effective medium in fostering understanding and the practice of tolerance. Supporting factors include the roles of traditional leaders, religious leaders, and local government support. However, several challenges remain, such as persistent stereotypes between groups and limited understanding of local wisdom among younger generations. This study concludes that religious moderation significantly contributes to strengthening tolerance among Hindu Kaharingan communities and can serve as a model for maintaining interreligious harmony in multicultural regions.

Abstract

Bunaken National Park is one of Indonesia's leading marine tourism destinations, which has high biodiversity but also faces pressure from tourism activities. This study aims to analyze tourism communication strategies in the management of marine ecotourism in Bunaken using a literature review method. The results of the study show that tourism communication plays a strategic role in supporting the sustainability of destinations through five main dimensions, namely: (1) promotional and marketing communication to build Bunaken's image as a sustainable destination, (2) interpretive communication in conveying ecological education to tourists, (3) cross-cultural communication to improve the intercultural competence of tourism stakeholders, (4) participatory communication that places local communities as the main actors in management, and (5) environmental communication and issue management to maintain the image of the destination from ecosystem damage and negative publicity. This study confirms that the success of Bunaken's management is not only determined by ecological conservation and infrastructure development, but also by the effectiveness of a holistic, integrative, and sustainable tourism communication strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the public speaking skills of Hindu Communication Science students during the learning process. The research focuses on three main questions: (1) How are the public speaking abilities of Hindu Communication Science students during lectures? (2) What challenges do they encounter in the learning process? (3) How do they overcome public speaking challenges? The study applies public speaking theory and interpersonal communication theory as its theoretical foundation. A qualitative approach was used, employing techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis process consisted of four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification or conclusion. The results show that most students demonstrate moderately good public speaking skills, particularly in expressing opinions, delivering material, and participating in classroom discussions. Factors such as interactive learning environments, involvement in student organizations, and support from lecturers contribute positively to skill development. However, students still face several challenges, including nervousness, lack of confidence, and difficulty in organizing messages systematically. Internal factors like anxiety and limited literacy, as well as external factors such as an unsupportive communication environment, also affect their performance. To address these challenges, students engage in regular practice, prepare their materials thoroughly, and apply nonverbal communication techniques effectively.

Abstract

His paper examines the transformation of Hindu Kaharingan and its strategic role in fostering interreligious harmony within the multicultural society of Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan. Hindu Kaharingan, originally the traditional belief system of the Dayak people, was formally integrated into Hinduism in the 1980s to gain administrative recognition, thereby creating a dual identity that blends local spirituality with formal religious structures. Employing a systematic literature review and a theoretical-critical approach with interdisciplinary analysis, this study aims to synthesize findings on the function of Hindu Kaharingan as a socioreligious actor. The research demonstrates that infrastructures such as Balai Basarah and the institutional body Majelis Besar Agama Hindu Kaharingan (MB-AHK) serve as key platforms for dialogue, cultural preservation, and social integration through rituals and interfaith collaboration. Despite facing challenges such as politicization and shifts in the values of younger generations, the community exhibits resilience by revitalizing traditions and leveraging digital media. Consequently, this paper argues that Hindu Kaharingan occupies a strategic position in shaping inclusive social structures and makes a significant contribution to the discourse on local religions, identity politics, and cultural diversity in Indonesia.

Abstract

The digital era has fundamentally transformed religious communication, shifting interactions from physical spaces to virtual platforms. This article systematically reviews the literature to analyze how educative approaches are implemented in Hindu religious communication within the Indonesian digital ecosystem, focusing on the YouTube platform. The core research question addresses the different educative strategies employed by both institutional and individual Hindu religious actors. Using a qualitative content analysis of literature from the last three years (2023-2025), this study maps the characteristics, strategies, and challenges of digital religious communication. The findings reveal a clear divergence in these educative approaches. Institutional actors (e.g., PHDI, Bimas Hindu) tend to use a formal-informative approach, leveraging digital media for program dissemination and organizational documentation through a monologic communication model. In contrast, charismatic individual figures (e.g., Ida Pandita Mpu Jaya Acharya Nanda) utilize a personal-dialogic approach that focuses on in-depth theological education, pastoral guidance, and interactive community engagement. This phenomenon points to a significant decentralization of religious authority, where digital platforms facilitate the rise of new knowledge centers outside of formal structures. The primary challenge lies in maintaining theological depth amid the demands of digital media engagement while also bridging the digital literacy gap within the community.
