Abstract

Social networking sites (SNS) have penetrated the daily lives of many people, with an estimated more than 4 billion SNS users in 2021. Currently, many restaurants use social media as a promotional tool. Many customers share their dining experiences and interact with other customers on social media. It is important for restaurant management to pay attention to the quality, message argumentation, and aesthetics of the uploaded content in order to create an emotional connection between customers and the restaurant. In order to create an effective social media strategy, it is necessary to identify and determine the platforms that suit your restaurant. This research was carried out using a qualitative approach and a literature review method for articles published in 2019 - 2023. Sources of research articles regarding the use of social media marketing in the restaurant industry were obtained by searching using the keyword "social media" combined with the keywords "restaurant" and " marketing” or “restaurant marketing” via the Remote Lib UI search database. A total of 5 articles were selected for systematic review. The results found that the types of platforms most frequently used were Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The use of social media is positively related to restaurant performance in the areas of finance, marketing and operations. Customers use social media to interact and voice their opinions regarding restaurant services through photos and reviews because this content is considered more objective and credible compared to information produced by restaurant owners.

Abstract

Merangin Geopark is an area that has unique geology, biodiversity, and significant cultural and social values. This research involves analyzing the narratives used in the news coverage of Merangin Geopark to understand how the concept of geopark value in the stories conveyed to the public through the media. This research aims to analyze the concept of geopark value in news narratives with a case study on Merangin Geopark. This research method uses a qualitative approach by collecting and analyzing various news sources about Merangin Geopark. The data collected is then analyzed to identify the concept of geopark value depicted in the news narrative. The results showed that the news narrative of Merangin Geopark reflects the concept of geopark values which include aspects of natural beauty, geological uniqueness, environmental sustainability, cultural heritage and Geopark development. The concept of these values is reflected in the stories conveyed to the public, both through the depiction of amazing geological characteristics, abundant biodiversity, and local wisdom related to the culture and traditions of the local community, In addition, the values presented in the news narrative, such as uniqueness, vulnerability, and sustainability, are closely related to the characteristics of Merangin Geopark. It can be said that the prominence of news narratives in communicating the importance of geopark preservation and development depends not only on the content of the narrative itself, but also on factors such as news dissemination, the intended audience, and the social context.

Abstract

Currently, the presence of technology and the internet has had a significant impact on the marketing field. TikTok social media is a new digital marketing medium that is developing in Indonesia. TikTok users in Indonesia are in second place in the world. This research aims to more specifically explain the use of TikTok as a new marketing medium in Indonesia. By using a systematic literature review with the PRISMA method, several previously relevant scientific journals were found to be used as secondary research sources to answer questions about the use of TikTok as a new marketing medium in Indonesia. The research results show that Tiktok as a digital marketing medium in Indonesia has been used in accordance with the advantages of digital media to create connection or involvement. The use of TikTok has a positive effect on engagement between brands and their audiences and can have a positive impact on purchasing decisions, brand image, brand value, and brand loyalty. To create connections, messages, features, and types of content must be combined appropriately according to the characteristics of the target audience.

Abstract

In the current era, social media through various information content shared plays an important role in many ways. Including the promotion and marketing of tourism destinations. Tiktok is one of the platforms that helps in disseminating a lot of information, from entertainment, shopping, to tourism. The purpose of this study is to determine the benefits of using Tiktok as a platform to find tourist references by Private Employees in Jakarta. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study research type. The data collection techniques used were interview and observation techniques. Interviews were conducted with 4 informants who in this case worked as private employees at one of the minimarkets in Jakarta. The observations made were on the tourist searching activities carried out by the 4 informants above. The results of the research conducted show that content diversity and individual preferences play an important role in the selection of media platforms used to find travel references and other activities. TikTok is one of the media that is useful and can be used as a source of reference and information in the decision to travel by Private Employees in Jakarta. Apart from relying on TikTok media, some Private Employees in Jakarta also rely on other media such as YouTube. Based on this research, it can also be seen that the use of several social media, including platforms such as TikTok, has significantly supported the growth of tourist attractions in Indonesia.

Abstract

Patriarchal culture is a culture that is inherent and developing in Indonesia. This culture assumes a position of power in the male group. Kartini as an Indonesian hero is known to be able to produce ideas that are resistance in nature and has succeeded in influencing the culture of domination that exists to this day. Even though Kartini lived at a time when power relations were very strong, especially at a time when Indonesia was still not independent. Kartini's struggle against male domination was immortalized in the film entitled "Kartini". This research aims to see the process of Kartini's success in opposing culture and doxa through Pierre Bourdieu's thoughts regarding Post-Structuralism. In his thoughts, Bourdieu mentions several concepts, namely habitus, capital, arena and doxa which will then be associated with this film. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods with text analysis techniques to explain this process through existing film footage. From this research it can be concluded that Kartini has aspects of habitus, capital and arena that support the success of her thinking which originates from her position in society. So this can provide changes to the surrounding environment. Kartini's habitus, capital and arena are of great value and give her an advantage in establishing dominance in the area she is targeting. Heterodoxa requires high levels of dominance by its actors. The film "Kartini" shows how Kartini's dominance is able to shape a change, especially in the structures that previously existed in society.

Abstract

General elections (elections) are one of the routine agendas that characterize a democratic country like Indonesia. Ahead of the 2024 elections, political actors and their parties are competing to introduce themselves in advance, including through political publicity activities. Likewise, Aceng Aziz Muslim plans to run for the Tasikmalaya Regency Legislative Council in Election District 7 (Dapil 7) and the media chosen for these activities is Facebook. This study aims to determine the political publicity of Aceng Aziz Muslim on Facebook, as well as what are the supporting and inhibiting factors. The research results show that Aceng Aziz Muslim's political publicity in Indonesia has reached a significant level of attention throughout his career. He managed to build a strong social network in cyberspace, allowing him to gain wide access to various audiences on Facebook. His ability to identify issues relevant to the community and create creative content has also sustained public interest and support over the long term. The use of social media platform analytics tools has also been beneficial in measuring the impact of his publications. However, Aceng Aziz Muslim also faced a number of challenges in his efforts to build his political publicity on Facebook.

Abstract

The discourse on postponing the elections in 2024 is considered a strategy to vent the political appetites of today's rulers who enjoy the opium of power, social media as a space for expression has become a hotly discussed discourse battle, including discussions about postponing the 2024 elections. The formulation of theproblem in this research is the purpose of this study is to find out how social media power relations have become a space to fight for discourse on postponing the 2024 general election?. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a critical discourse analysis theory approach from Norman Fairclough. The paradigm used in this study is the critical paradigm. The data collection technique uses the content analysis method, this method is carried out by analyzing uploads on social media related to the postponement of the 2024 election. The results show that the discourse on postponing the election can be seen in 3 things: First, the narrative/news text used by Twitter social media users not just news texts, but nuanced arguments and descriptions, as was conveyed by Denny Indrayana who is more argumentative than his concern about the alleged postponement of elections and extending the term of office of the rulers. Second, discourse on social media, especially Twitter, tends to raise controversial issues in Indonesia, the issue of controversy in question is that there is an alleged effort against the law and tends to be political, meaning that the interests of the content creator are more dominant than balanced reporting. The last one is that when viewed from an ideological aspect, social media Twitter provides a negative image by cornering the country's rulers, in this case the government leader during President Jokowi's era, so that the public evaluates negatively the actionstaken by a group of people from the palace.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, information and communication technology is developing rapidly, one of which is in the field of social media. But along with the rapid development of technology, there are parties who abuse the functions of Facebook social media. The current problem on Facebook is sexual harassment, where there are two parties communicating online and these two parties are the perpetrator and the victim. The perpetrator sent a short message on Facebook that was initially complimentary but became sexually suggestive. The aim of this research is to find out the underlying causes of sexual harassment and reduce the number of sexual harassment on Facebook. The method in this research uses a case study which is studied qualitatively by distributing an online questionnaire in the form of a Google form, then conducting interviews with several sources, namely two victims of sexual harassment. Data collection techniques used observations from newspapers and respondents from distributed online questionnaires and conducting structured interviews. The results of this research show that sexual harassment that occurs on social media is divided into written harassment, verbal harassment, visual harassment and real harassment. The response from female social media users was that most of them regretted the sexual harassment activities that occurred. Acts of sexual harassment also have negative impacts on victims, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psychological impacts that trigger a series of complications, especially regarding the physical health of victims of sexual harassment on social media.

Abstract

Research on the phenomenon of sexual violence against women continues to persist to this day, both in urban and rural areas, with the number of violence cases steadily increasing each year. The repercussions of these sexual violence actions are immensely grave, causing victims to experience a range of traumas. Some victims may endure mild trauma, allowing them to maintain communication with others, while others suffer severe trauma, rendering them incapable of meeting or communicating with anyone else. Some victims even withdraw into their rooms, attempt self-harm, or contemplate ending their own lives. One crucial aspect in comprehending the impact of sexual violence against women is the victims' self-concept. The primary objective of this research is to analyze the self-concept of women who have fallen victim to sexual violence, with a focus on intrapersonal communication perspectives and the self-acceptance processes of these victims. The research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, which enables researchers to delve into an understanding of the victims' experiences. The research findings reveal that the intrapersonal communication process in the four informant victims of sexual violence occurs progressively. Each informant undergoes a complex and intricate self-acceptance process. However, the conclusion drawn from this research is that the informants ultimately succeed in developing a positive self-concept despite enduring a challenging journey. Therefore, this research offers valuable insights into how victims of sexual violence respond and cope with their traumatic effects through intrapersonal communication and self-acceptance.

Abstract

The tradition of migrating in Minangkabau, West Sumatra, requires adult men to leave their hometowns in order to live independently, adapt to new environments and achieve a successful life. However, some adult men choose not to migrate for personal reasons. This research uses the concepts of Social, Cultural, and Symbolic Capital by Pierre Bourdieu, as well as the theories of Symbolic Interactionism and Relational Dialectics by Mead, Blumer, Baxter, and Montgomery to examine this capitalistic dilemma. Using these theories, the author aims to reveal the capitalistic dilemma for adult men, when each of them has reasons to choose between two options, where a certain amount of capital surrounds migrants and non-migrants, as well as the symbolic interaction and relational dialectics that occur between migrants and non-migrants. This research uses a qualitative method entitled Capitalistic Dilemma of the Merantau Tradition for Minangkabau Men Viewed Through Symbolic Interaction and Relational Dialectics. In this research, resource persons such as traditional leaders, migrants, and non-migrants were interviewed to gain in-depth insights. Although the obligation to migrate is a customary law or regulation that has been going on for generations, the results of the study prove that, migrating or not migrating is not a problem, when each individual has reasons that strengthen his choice. The decision to migrate or not is imbued with significant meaning, influenced by social, cultural, economic, and symbolic factors.
