Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how effective the application of the CTL model and PPT-based Canva software is in improving the quality of learning in grade 7 Fiqh, with a sample of 50 students. The quantitative research used a two-group pretest-posttest design, data collected through the analysis of pretest and posttest results, from the experimental class that received the treatment and the control class did not receive the treatment, while the analysis method used Normality Test, Paired sample T-test and N-gain test to determine the effectiveness of the results of the Canva-based CTL learning model, thus the results that have been treated can be known for a more accurate comparison between those who have not been treated and those who have been treated. The learning results showed that both classes experienced an increase in understanding of fiqh material, but based on the N-gain test, the experimental class obtained an N-gain of 0.2884, while the control class obtained 0.0572. Based on the tests, it can be concluded that the ability of the experimental class is much better in understanding the fiqh material compared to the control class.

The significance of this research is to produce an educational contribution of a strategic approach based on conflict resolution to be implemented by PAK teachers through anti-violence learning as part of character education, so that all school members can become increasingly aware of the need to work together to create a conducive and inclusive school, and be able to become a positive reflection for the wider community.

Abstract

This study explores the catechetical dimensions of tegi ndeter agu ndetar, an indigenous reconciliation ritual in Manggarai, Eastern Indonesia, and its contribution to peace education. This study used a qualitative descriptive narrative case study in Manggarai Regency, Flores Island, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Five key informants, including traditional elders, a Catholic catechist, and a cultural practitioner, provided insights into the symbolic, moral, and catechetical dimensions of the tegi ndeter agu ndetar ritual. Data were analyzed through reduction, display, and interpretation using peace education, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and transformative learning theories, supported by relevant previous studies. Interpreted through peace education, transformative learning, and inculturation catechesis, the findings show that reconciliation is taught as a lived practice, where paradox and ritual generate transformative learning and Gospel values are transmitted through cultural forms. The study contributes theoretically by expanding peace education beyond classrooms into embodied cultural practice, affirming the role of paradox in transformative pedagogy, and grounding inculturation catechesis in communal life. Practically, it highlights opportunities for catechists, educators, and peacebuilders to collaborate with cultural elders in fostering reconciliation as a living curriculum of peace. Ultimately, tegi ndeter agu ndetar demonstrate that indigenous wisdom and Christian catechesis can converge as a pathway to sustainable peace education. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to bridging indigenous traditions and Christian pedagogy, offering a model of culturally rooted peace education that can inspire both academic discourse and practical pastoral approaches in diverse cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a maritime curriculum design for Early Childhood Education that is relevant to the needs of the maritime community in the Banten region. The research methodology used is R&D with the ADDIE model. The steps of this development research include Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The population was conducted in 3 schools, with a sample of 5 teachers from the school: 2 teachers, one teacher from BKB Kemas Dahlia, and one teacher from TKIT Mathla'ul Anwar Sadatani. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The results of the study, based on the analysis stage, found that students had low reading interest and difficulty understanding maritime material, so the researcher designed a maritime learning model by integrating the 2013 curriculum. After the design was carried out, it was then developed in the form of a table containing the arrangement of themes, subthemes, and indicators that correspond to the maritime material integrated with the 2013 curriculum. The implementation stage was trialed in 3 PAUD institutions in the Banten region. In the final stage, namely evaluation, validation is carried out by several experts according to their fields, as well as by PAUD teachers.

Abstract

This study investigates the reconstruction of curriculum management in marginalised schools through the lens of educational justice. Using a critical narrative approach, the research examines the challenges faced by schools in Amuntai, South Kalimantan, where the top-down national curriculum model fails to meet local needs and contexts. The study explores how national policies, despite their intentions to standardise education, exacerbate educational inequalities in rural settings. Data were collected from teachers, school principals, and students through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The study employs Critical Narrative Analysis (CNA) for data analysis, involving three stages: organising the data into thematic categories, interpreting these themes to identify recurring patterns, and deconstructing the ideological narratives underlying curriculum practices. The findings indicate that while teachers demonstrate local initiative in adapting the curriculum to better suit their students’ needs, their efforts are largely unrecognised by formal educational authorities, and their involvement in curriculum decision-making is minimal. This lack of recognition limits the sustainability of local adaptations. The study argues that a more flexible, participatory curriculum design is required—one that values local knowledge and practices and empowers teachers and students to contribute to decision-making. It highlights that curriculum reform, rooted in the principles of educational justice, should focus on equitable representation, recognition, and redistribution of educational resources. Ultimately, this research provides recommendations for creating an inclusive educational system that acknowledges the specific needs of marginalised communities and supports local contexts in shaping curriculum design.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explore students' historical awareness is the understanding of individual aspects, ideas, thoughts, desires, and memories related to historical events or historical sites found in various regions. Students' historical awareness also includes a dimension of knowledge that leads to individual competencies. This study utilised qualitative research, employing historical methods. The population consisted of 350 students, while the sample size for this study was 23 students. The data collection techniques used were primary data, including interviews, document analysis, and artefacts, while the secondary sources were books and documents. The data analysis techniques used were heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the study show that the problem of the competence of students of the History Education and historical awareness study program lies in the lack of knowledge about local historical sites as a whole. In other words, the problem of lack of interest in reading also affects knowledge of local historical sites, and the low value of students' historical awareness was also seen in previous studies. The contribution of this research lies in sharpening the perspective in looking at the historical awareness of students from the fundamental perspective of the interests of History Education students.

Abstract

This study is motivated by increasing reports of intolerance and radicalism that often involve individuals with religious educational backgrounds, even though Islamic teachings fundamentally reject all forms of violence and terrorism. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is therefore expected to play a central role in shaping moderate, tolerant, and peace-loving attitudes among students, particularly within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), which are known for their strong religious traditions and moral education. The aim of this study is to develop PAI teaching materials in Islamic boarding schools that emphasize tolerance values and the prevention of radicalism. The research was conducted at Al Istiqomah Boarding School, Sindangsari, Kutawaluya, Karawang, using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The main participants were students, teachers, and Kyai. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the values of tolerance at Al Istiqomah Boarding School are internalized through PAI learning, teachers’ exemplary conduct, and religious activities that foster respect, cooperation, and appreciation for diversity. The study concludes that pesantren have a strategic role in strengthening character education based on tolerance and preventing the spread of radical ideologies among students.
