Abstract

Studies have investigated antecedents of job satisfaction, however, little is known about the predictive role of job tension on job satisfaction as well as gender difference on job satisfaction among academic staff in Nigeria. Using job demands–resources model as a theoretical framework, this study examined job tension on job satisfaction among selected academic staff of Nasarawa State University, Keffi. Participants were 75 (48 males and 27 females) academic staff with a mean age of 42.11 (SD of 4.12) recruited from six faculties in the university. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression and t-test for independent sample analysis. Results showed that job tension predict job satisfaction among academic staff. Also, female academic staff has higher level of job satisfaction than the male academic staff. The findings suggest that industrial and organisational psychologists should redesign academic job roles in such a way that it will devoid of stressful and tension socked pressure which will have positive implication for better job satisfaction among academic staff.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to improve the students adversity quotient competence who have been studying at the eight graders of Public Junior High School. The students improvement in their adversity quotient competence was facilitated through group guidance service. This was pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post test design. The subjects of the research were 9 students. The result of the study showed that, Before the students have been provided with group guidance service, the students pre-test average scores were 53%.  Their competences were in low category.  After the students have been provided with group guidance service, the students post-test average scores were 70.2%. The students competences are in high category. Overall, the students adversity quotient competence is improving into 17.2%. Based on the result of inferential analyses using Wilcoxon signed rank test, it was found that it’s significant was  a = 0,05 with its Pvalue = 0.008. Pvalue ˂ a (0.008 ˂ 0.05). The test result indicates that Ha is accepted. It can therefore be concluded that group guidance service is able to improve the students’ adversity quotient competence in Public Junior High School.

Abstract

Guru memiliki peran penting dalam dunia pendidikan. Pentingnya peran guru maka perlu mendapat perhatian dalam hal kesejahteraan psikologis. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kesejahteraan psikologis guru ditinjau jenis kelamin dan status pernikahan. Metode penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam penelitian komparatif. Alat pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen yang berupa skala yaitu skala kesejahteraan psikologis yang disusun berdasarkan teori dari Ryff. Teknik pengambilan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan Convenience Sampling. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 120 orang guru sekolah swasta yang bekerja di satu Yayasan. Analisa statistik pada penelitian ini menggunakan anava 2 jalur. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, ditemukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan  pada tingkat kesejahteraan psikologis guru ditinjau dari jenis kelamin dan status pernikahan. Hasil analisis juga menemukan bahwa rerata skor kesejahteraan psikologi pada guru wanita yang menikah memiliki kesejahteraan psikologis yang tinggi dibandingkan guru pria dan guru yang belum menikah.

Abstract

Problem solving must be owned by everyone, because in life everyone must have a problem, for that the importance of improving problem solving skills. This study focuses on women who are victims of domestic violence. The effects of domestic violence are a matter of concern, because some victims prefer to be quiet rather than sharing family problems with others or counselors. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. Sampling uses a purposive sampling technique that is using certain criteria. The number of samples was 64 people (ages ranging from 25-56 years). The instrument used was a problem harassment instrument for victims of domestic violence who had 34 items. The results showed a solution to the problem of victims of domestic violence from counseling, ethnicity, and education services, M = 106.45, Md = 106.00, Mode = 85.00. Women victims of domestic violence who have done counseling and counseling services are better able to solve family problems than those who have never had counseling, and education influences the problem solving of women victims of domestic violence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Emotional Regulation and Self-esteem on Academic Self-Adjustment. The method used is quantitative correlational. This research was conducted in the counseling study program in January-February 2021. The population of this study were students of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Cenderawasih University Class of 2016,2017,2018,2019 and 2020 with a total of 115 students. Based on the Slovin formula, 89 samples were obtained using the Proportionate Stratified technique. Random Sampling. The data collection technique used an emotional regulation questionnaire, a self-esteem questionnaire and an academic adjustment questionnaire with a Likert scale assessment. This study uses simple and multiple regression data analysis. The results of this study indicate that: there is an effect of emotional regulation on academic self-adjustment with the results of R2 = 38.9% and the effect of self-esteem on academic self-adjustment with the results of R2 = 62.6%. There is an effect of emotional regulation and self-esteem on academic self-adjustment, with the result of R2 = 69.3%, while the remaining 30.7% is influenced by other variables outside of this study.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of psychological impact that consist of depression, anxiety, and stress in students due to online learning in vocational higher education conducted during the Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on student’s academic achievement. The samples in this study were 180 students of the Undergraduate Program Department of Commercial Administration of Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis. The Samples were taken using the purposive sampling technique focused solely on students who gained online learning in theory and practice courses since the use of online learning because of the COVID-19. The Data was collected using a DASS 42 instrument through online questionnaire. The results of this study showed that the psychological impact of depression, anxiety, and stress experienced by students because online learning does not have a partial significant effect but simultaneously affects academic achievement. Psychological impact contributed only 5.7% while the remaining 94.3% was influenced by other factors

Abstract

Emotions are very supportive in the life of every individual, whether they are positive emotions or negative emotions. The importance of individuals managing emotions in life because someone who is emotionally capable will be able to know and handle their own feelings well, the ability to manage emotions is communicated precisely one of them through art therapy. This activity provides (WPKNS) insights, knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes possessed by BK SMPN 163 Jakarta teachers and UNINDRA UPBK Students in providing useful services to clients. The activities carried out by lecturing, question and answer, discussion and practice of using art therapy. The results of the evaluation of activities that have been carried out revealed that art therapy activities are successful and provide benefits to individuals in directing and managing emotions positively. This can be seen from the enthusiasm and participation of participants during art therapy activities.

Abstract

The background of this study was the low social self-concept of adolescents in Al-Fida Orphanage Bengkulu. This research aims to determine the effect of group guidance services with peer group techniques on adolescent social self-concept. The research method used quasi-experimentation with non equivalen pre-test post-test control groups design. The study sample consisted of 20 adolescents divided into 10 expression groups and 10 control groups. Sampling techniques using purposive sampling. Data collection using self-concept questionnaires. The data were analyzed with the Mann Withney test using SPSS Version 20.0. The findings suggest that group guidance services with peer group techniques influence the social self-concept of adolescents.

Abstract

Academic procrastination can be defined as a person's tendency to delay activities related to academics. We can find procrastination at every level of education, especially in college. One of the causes of procrastination in students because college students have greater responsibilities and demands than before. This research analyzed the effectiveness of role playing in information services to reduce student academic procrastination by uses a quantitative methods. The type of this research is Quasi Experiment with The Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The sample of this study were students majoring in Curriculum and Educational Technology, with 32 students in experimental group of and 32 students in control group. The research instrument used was a Likert Scale model, then it was analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Rasch model. The results of this study generally indicate that information services using role playing are effective to reducing academic procrastination for students

Abstract

Since COVID-19 pandemic entered Indonesia, mental health experts have also investigated the increase in psychological problems, one of which is anxiety. The fear of being infected or unknowingly infecting other people is a major source of anxiety during COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to describe the differences in early adult anxiety during COVID-19 in terms of gender. This study is a comparative study at the early adult development stage in Indonesia, obtained through random sampling. The sample of this study was 206 people (male = 66; female = 140). The analysis technique used is the Welch Test on the Rasch model with the help of WINSTEPS Version 3.73. The analysis showed that there was no difference in anxiety during COVID-19 between male and female early adulthood. This condition is caused by early adulthood male and female depending on the internet and smartphones to find information when quarantining at home, increasing feelings of anxiety about being infected with COVID-19. The implementation of guidance and counseling is discussed further
