Abstract

Braiding machines are essential equipment in the textile industry for producing precise fibber or wire interlacements. Most conventional braiding machines in Indonesia are aging and lack adequate technical documentation. As a consequence, maintenance, component replacement, and component reproduction processes become difficult to perform. This study aims to recover technical data and develop the take-up mechanism of a conventional braiding machine through a reverse engineering approach. The research methodology consists of component identification through disassembly, dimensional measurement, 3D CAD modelling, component design modification, preparation of technical drawings, followed by assembly and functional testing. The results show that the modified component design has a simpler geometry, resulting in more efficient assembly and maintenance processes. Functional testing demonstrates that all components operate in accordance with the original mechanism, while performance testing indicates that the take-up system is capable of maintaining constant yarn tension and producing uniform braiding within a speed range of 100–160 RPM. Statistical analysis using an X̄ control chart confirms that the braiding quality remains within statistical control limits without significant deviations. Therefore, this study concludes that the reverse engineering method is effective in providing comprehensive technical documentation, extending machine service life, and supporting local manufacturing independence. Keywords - Dokumentasi Teknis, Mesin Braiding, Reverse Engineering, Sistem Penarik, X-Chart.

Abstract

Kepok banana peel is an agricultural waste that has the potential to be utilized as a source of natural antibacterial compounds. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of kepok banana peel extract. The research was conducted as an experimental laboratory study to evaluate the antibacterial activity of 96% ethanol extract of kepok banana peel against Staphylococcus aureus. The study design included the preparation of simplicia, extraction, phytochemical screening, preparation of test solutions, and antibacterial activity testing using the agar well diffusion method with extract concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, each performed in triplicate. Phytochemical screening data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods, while antibacterial activity data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. The results demonstrated that kepok banana peel extract was able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. The inhibition zone diameters at concentrations of 20%, 40%, and 60% were 2.96 mm, 4.46 mm, and 4.70 mm, respectively (weak category), whereas at concentrations of 80% and 100% the inhibition zones were 5.11 mm and 5.58 mm, respectively (moderate category). Statistical analysis indicated a significant effect of treatment on inhibition zone formation (p<0.05). These findings suggest a concentration-dependent inhibitory response of Staphylococcus aureus to the extract. Keywords - Antibacterial Activity, Kepok Banana Peel, Phytochemical Screening.
