Abstract

As a form of Islamic education in Indonesia, the existence of Islamic boarding schools as Islamic educational institutions with advantages both in terms of scientific tradition and in terms of transmission and intensity of Muslims is threatened by the current of globalization. Reform and reconstruction of Islamic education and its institutions seem to need to be carried out immediately, especially considering developments in the global world that require every Islamic educational institution to continue to improve itself in order to continue to exist. This article attempts to reconstruct the thoughts of one Islamic education figure (KH. Imam Zarkasyi) regarding the renewal of Islamic boarding schools as traditional Islamic educational institutions. The extent to which the concepts of this figure can be used as a model for modernizing traditional Islamic educational philosophy to suit the demands of Muslim society's modernization process would require further research. This study only discusses his concepts for reforming curricula, strengthening institutional administration, and promoting Islamic boarding school principles. KH. Imam Zarkasyi developed a number of his main concepts in light of the literature review. First of all, he asserted that the Islamic education curriculum emphasized modern science in addition to religious knowledge, necessitating that student be proficient in both Arabic and English. Secondly, in order to fortify Islamic boarding schools, it is imperative to enhance the institutional management of these establishments and oversee waqf in a reliable and contemporary manner. In the third section, he highlighted the importance of sincerity, simplicity, independence, ukhuwah, and freedom in the development of Islamic boarding school ideals. The Gontor Islamic Boarding School's outward character must be based on these five values.

Abstract

This article aims to elucidate the process of developing spiritual intelligence through learning in an Islamic high school (madrasah aliyah). Therefore, understanding of ethics and spirituality must be established as its foundation. In this madrasah, spiritual intelligence is cultivated through various methods, one of which is through the subject of aqidah akhlak (ethics and morality). This research adopts a qualitative field research approach, which involves procedures that generate descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words and observed behaviors. Data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis employs reflective thinking (data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing). Data validity is checked through researcher involvement extension, observation diligence, triangulation, and auditing. The study reveals that planning begins with setting learning objectives, selecting methods, choosing media, and evaluation, all of which are accommodated in the lesson plans (RPP) derived from the syllabus, curriculum framework (prota), and annual program (promes). This investigation also finds that the implementation of this planning involves an emotional approach, where educators attempt to activate the affective domain of learners. Building positive behaviors among learners is done repeatedly using dogmatic, deductive, and inductive methods. The study also presents several outcomes after the implementation of the planning, such as a more conducive learning environment, improvement in the moral and spiritual aspects of learners, prevention of negative behaviors, control of learners' emotions, and the cultivation of strong aqidah and virtuous behavior among learners.

Abstract

The highest prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) based on diagnosis and symptoms is observed in the 55-64 year age group, at 5.5%. Knowledge about DM is crucial for sufferers to minimize the risk of complications. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of DM management training in preventing DM complications in Kalipare Village, Malang Regency. A Quasi-Experimental design was employed in this research conducted in Kalipare Village, Malang Regency. The study population consisted of all Health Cadres in Kalipare Village, totaling 30 individuals. The research sample comprised 30 Health Cadres, selected using Total Sampling technique. The independent variable was DM management training, while the dependent variable was the prevention of DM complications. Data were collected using questionnaires and skills observation, and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results indicated a significant difference with a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) between the treatment group and the control group in terms of knowledge and observation of DM management skills post-treatment. This signifies the effectiveness of DM management training in preventing DM complications. The more effective the DM management training provided to health cadre participants, the better the prevention of DM complications.

Abstract

This study investigates curriculum policies in boarding schools operated by Vocational High Schools (SMK) within the context of Islamic education. The primary aim is to explore how Islamic principles and occupational competencies are integrated into the curriculum. The research employed analysis of policy documents, interviews with stakeholders, and surveys of curriculum implementation across various vocational boarding schools. Findings indicate that the curriculum strategy in SMK boarding schools is established through a comprehensive approach that combines strong Islamic religious instruction with technical and vocational knowledge. The program aims to foster students' spiritual growth while preparing them for the workforce. Islamic religious issues are not only taught theoretically but are also woven into vocational practices, such as business ethics in vocational case studies. Moreover, the study found that flexible curriculum adaptation is essential to meet the demands and local contexts of each vocational boarding school. Active participation from all stakeholders, including teachers, students, parents, and local communities, is crucial for the development and implementation of effective curricula. The study concludes that curricular policies in vocational boarding schools should maintain a balanced approach between religious and vocational education, emphasizing character development. Community involvement, continuous curriculum evaluation, and revision are critical recommendations for enhancing the quality of education in SMK boarding schools.

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile is a program within the Merdeka Curriculum aimed at enhancing the quality of education through character education aligned with Pancasila as the state ideology and the foundation of the nation's soul. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile within the Merdeka Curriculum. The primary objectives of the Pancasila Student Profile are to uphold the noble values and morals of the nation, prepare students to become inclusive global citizens, achieve social justice, and develop 21st-century competencies. Various methods can be employed to introduce the six Pancasila Learner Profiles. Besides providing direct examples in daily life, the reinforcement of the Pancasila Student Profile can also be achieved through creative content and animated series. One example of an animated series created by Indonesian youth that can be used to strengthen the Pancasila Student Profile is "Adit Sopo Jarwo." This series depicts the adventures of a boy named Adit, who consistently demonstrates behavior in line with Pancasila values in his activities. Through this series, children can learn the importance of embodying a character consistent with Pancasila.
