Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged students to employ Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support their academic activities. However, differences in individuals’ technological management skills, self-efficacy levels, and learning creativity lead to variations in students’ academic work productivity. This study aims to analyze the influence of AI utilization, self-efficacy, and learning innovation on students’ academic work productivity. The research problem focuses on the extent to which these three variables contribute, either partially or simultaneously, to enhancing students’ academic work productivity in the digital era. This study employed a quantitative survey approach with a sample of 201 university students, approximately 96.5% of whom are enrolled in Islamic higher education institutions, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that AI utilization (sig.=0.024), self-efficacy (sig.=0.000), and learning innovation (sig.=0.000) have a significant partial influence on students’ productivity, with learning innovation being the most dominant variable. Simultaneously, the three variables exert a significant influence (F=94.425; sig.=0.000) and explain 59% of the variance in work productivity (R²=0.590). These findings provide novel empirical evidence that learning innovation exerts a more dominant influence than AI utilization alone, underscoring the importance of integrating technological adoption with self-efficacy and innovative learning practices to enhance university students’ academic work productivity, particularly within Islamic higher education contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between willingness to communicate (WTC) and Arabic speaking anxiety among ninth-grade students of MTs Negeri 4 Karanganyar. The background of the study arises from the finding that Arabic speaking skills are often hindered by language anxiety, which affects students' participation in classroom communication activities. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey technique. Data collection instruments include the Willingness to Communicate Scale (McCroskey, 1992) and the Public Speaking Anxiety Scale (PSAS) to measure speaking anxiety. The research sample consisted of 61 students, obtained through a random sampling technique based on Slovin's formula from a population of 155 students. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson product-moment correlation to examine the strength of the relationship between variables. The results showed a significant negative correlation between willingness to communicate and anxiety in speaking Arabic (r = –0.893; p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the higher the students' willingness to communicate, the lower the level of speaking anxiety they experience. An R Square value of 0.798 shows that willingness to communicate contributes 79.8% to Arabic speaking anxiety, while the remainder is influenced by factors beyond this study. Overall, this research confirms that strengthening willingness to communicate plays an important role in reducing Arabic-speaking anxiety. The implications of this study emphasize the need for learning strategies that encourage bravery, provide broader speaking opportunities, and create a non-threatening classroom environment so that students are more active in communication practice.

Abstract

Global economic changes and industrial dynamics demand that Islamic education be oriented not only toward academic achievement but also toward strengthening character, life skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit. This study aims to analyze a values-based entrepreneurial management model in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and its contribution to institutional independence and the development of students' entrepreneurial spirit. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with participatory observation and documentation studies, analyzed interactively through data reduction, presentation, and verification. The results indicate that Islamic boarding school entrepreneurship is developed through integrated local asset management within the learning process, using a collaborative model between administrators, educators, students, and the community. The integration of production activities into the curriculum not only improves students' technical skills but also fosters values of responsibility, cooperation, and social concern. Implementation challenges, such as limited resources and market dynamics, are addressed through managerial innovation and strengthening internal economic institutions. This model significantly contributes to the institution's financial independence and expands the social function of Islamic education. The findings of this study strengthen the theoretical framework of values-based social entrepreneurship in Islamic educational management, affirming that the integration of knowledge, charity, and economic production can be a sustainable strategy for empowering educational institutions and communities. This model offers practical and conceptual implications for the development of Islamic education that is adaptive, contextual, and oriented towards economic empowerment.

Abstract

Improving teacher performance is a key factor in ensuring the quality of education; however, in practice, various indications of teacher performance problems are still found, influenced by leadership, job satisfaction, and work motivation. This study aims to analyze the influence of principals' leadership style, job satisfaction, and work motivation on teacher performance. The research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected through structured questionnaires from 67 teachers as the total population and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The research results indicate that work motivation has a positive and most significant impact on teacher performance, followed by the principal's leadership style, while job satisfaction does not have a significant direct effect. Simultaneously, the three independent variables are able to explain 52% of the variation in teacher performance. This study contributes to strengthening educational management research by emphasizing the importance of enhancing teachers' intrinsic motivation and implementing a participative leadership style as an effective strategy to improve teacher performance at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study analyzes functional and operational strategy models in strengthening the governance of Private Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Swasta/ PTKIS), using a case study at the Faqih Asy’ari Islamic Institute (IAIFA) Kediri. In the context of the transformation of Islamic higher education, IAIFA serves as an example of the implementation of good university governance principles that integrate Islamic values with modern management practices. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, utilizing interviews, observations, and institutional document analysis. The findings indicate that IAIFA’s functional strategies focus on three main aspects: transparent and efficient financial management, competency- and integrity-based human resource development, and the strengthening of public relations and marketing functions grounded in Aswaja values. Meanwhile, IAIFA’s operational strategies are implemented through the optimization of the performance of operational units, such as procurement, new student admissions, academic affairs, and student services. The implementation of these strategies reflects a synergy between strategic planning and technical execution in practice, which contributes to enhanced institutional effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability. Furthermore, the adoption of digital-based approaches in academic administration and student services demonstrates IAIFA’s responsiveness to the demands for innovation and governance modernization. This study confirms that the success of PTKIS governance is determined not only by managerial effectiveness but also by the integration of Islamic spiritual and ethical values across all dimensions of institutional management. The functional and operational strategy model of IAIFA Kediri may serve as a reference for other PTKIS in realizing professional, transparent, and sustainable Islamic higher education governance in the era of globalization.

Abstract

This study analyzes the formation of students' humanist-religious character through a classroom management approach in Islamic Religious Education learning in high schools. This study is based on the assumption that character education cannot be reduced to the transmission of normative values, but must be understood as a pedagogical process that occurs through social, psychological, and spiritual relations in the classroom. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, through in-depth interviews, learning observations, and documentation to capture the pedagogical practices of PAI teachers in a contextual and reflective manner. The research findings indicate that democratic, humanist, and freedom-based classroom management functions as a transformative medium in integrating humanitarian and religiosity values simultaneously. PAI teachers act not only as conveyors of teaching materials, but also as moral-spiritual facilitators who build a participatory, empathetic, and reflective classroom climate. The novelty of this study lies in the conceptualization of classroom management as a values-based pedagogical instrument that bridges humanistic educational theory and Islamic character education, thereby broadening the understanding of the internalization of religious values in the context of formal education. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of character education studies by emphasizing that the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education learning is largely determined by the design of pedagogical relationships, not solely by curriculum content. These findings recommend the need to integrate a humanist-religious classroom management approach into character education policies and practices in schools.

Abstract

The study addresses a critical limitation of conventional evaluation models such as Tyler, CIPP, and Kirkpatrick, which tend to emphasize linear outcomes while inadequately capturing learning processes, stakeholder subjectivity, and the growing role of digital technologies in education. Using the PRISMA protocol, this review analyzes peer-reviewed Scopus-indexed articles published between 2013 and 2025. The search process yielded 250 articles, which were systematically screened and refined to eight core studies that explicitly examined technology-integrated evaluation, data analytics, or Q-Methodological approaches. Bibliometric mapping using VOSviewer and trend analysis with R Studio were employed to identify conceptual patterns, methodological tendencies, and research gaps. The findings are synthesized at a conceptual level and reveal three core insights. First, curriculum evaluation research is increasingly data-driven, with learning analytics and machine learning used to predict performance, engagement, and learning trajectories, yet these approaches remain largely reductionist when detached from contextual meaning. Second, Q-Methodology consistently emerges as a robust method for capturing structured subjectivity, enabling the identification of distinct stakeholder perspectives that are otherwise overlooked in metric-based evaluation models. Third, the reviewed studies demonstrate that neither analytics nor Q-Methodology alone can adequately support holistic evaluation; rather, their integration enables a multidimensional assessment encompassing cognitive, affective, behavioral, and social domains of learning. This study contributes theoretically to educational management by conceptualizing curriculum evaluation as an adaptive, formative, and socio-technical process rather than a static measurement activity. The proposed hybrid framework positions evaluation as a strategic tool for decision-making, organizational learning, and curriculum governance. Practically, the findings are particularly relevant for developing education systems such as Indonesia’s Kurikulum Merdeka, where contextual diversity, digital transition, and stakeholder participation demand more inclusive and responsive evaluation models. By articulating a conceptual synthesis rather than a procedural template, this article advances curriculum evaluation scholarship toward a holistic and future-oriented paradigm.

Abstract

Human resource management (HRM) planning is a strategic aspect in improving the quality and success of Islamic educational institutions, especially madrasahs and pesantrens, amid the dynamics of change and challenges of the digital era. However, weak HR planning often results in mismatched placement of educators, ineffective recruitment processes, and low professionalism and quality of teaching. This study aims to analyze the contribution of human resource management planning to the success of managing Islamic educational institutions. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature review method on relevant scientific articles published between 2012 and 2020. Data analysis is carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The study results show that structured HRM planning significantly contributes to determining the need for educators, improving the quality of recruitment and selection, the effectiveness of continuous professional development, as well as strengthening the performance evaluation system. These findings confirm that HRM planning not only functions as an administrative tool but also serves as a strategic foundation in enhancing the quality, professionalism, and competitiveness of Islamic educational institutions. This research contributes theoretically to strengthening studies in Islamic education management based on HR planning, and practically provides a reference for madrasah and pesantren administrators in formulating systematic and quality-oriented human resource planning.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping holistic human beings by integrating intellectual, spiritual, and moral development. However, contemporary educational practices tend to emphasize cognitive achievement while neglecting the cultivation of the soul and character, which contributes to moral decline and mental health issues among students. This study aims to examine the concept of balance between soul (nafs) and intellect (‘aql) in Buya Hamka’s philosophy of Islamic education and its relevance to contemporary educational challenges. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using library research. Primary data are derived from Buya Hamka’s works, such as Tasawuf Modern and Falsafah Hidup, while secondary data are obtained from relevant scholarly literature. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis, including data reduction, theme classification, and interpretative analysis. The findings reveal that, according to Buya Hamka, ideal Islamic education must integrate intellectual development with spiritual and moral cultivation to achieve mental well-being, inner peace, and moral resilience. This concept is highly relevant to modern Islamic education, as it offers a holistic framework for integrating intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence in developing morally grounded and resilient learners.
