Abstract

This research investigates the phenomenon of internships, which is often criticized for being perceived as involving tasks of limited substance, often limited to activities such as photocopying and document printing. Internships are viewed as a form of experiential learning that complements theoretical knowledge gained from university education with practical application in a professional environment. The aim of this study is to examine this phenomenon, which is sometimes seen as ordinary. Quantitative research methods were employed, focusing on an associative approach with a sample of 47 individuals selected from a population of 53 using the Slovin formula. The results indicate that internships/work practices at BPBU significantly influence leadership and critical thinking skills but do not have a significant impact on communication skills. These findings provide insights into the effectiveness of internships in developing specific skills and offer perspectives for educational institutions and prospective interns in the future.

Abstract

Pedagogical competence is one of the professional competencies that every teacher must have. This is due to the urgency of pedagogical competence to understand students, conduct learning, and evaluation that ensures the quality of learning outcomes. However, this condition is difficult to apply to mismatch teachers because they do not have an adequate knowledge base. As a result, learning is only done to fulfill obligations. This research aims to find out the strategies carried out by mismatch teachers at SMA N 1 Gemolong in their efforts to optimize their pedagogical abilities, especially on the indicators of mastery of materials and learning activities. Qualitative research method with case study approach was used in this research. The population of this research is teachers of SMA N 1 Gemolong. The sample of this research is teachers who experience mismatch and are selected by purposive sampling method. The results showed that teachers carried out various strategies to implement pedagogical competence in mismatch subjects, namely elaborating material, simplifying learning outcomes, seeking references to learning practices from other teachers, and developing affective actions. These efforts are made on the basis of rational choices regarding moral responsibility as a teacher objectively. These efforts are ultimately able to maintain a balance of quality between the main subjects and mismath subjects.

Abstract

This article aims to review the tradition of bajapuik in Minangkabau customs in Pariaman, West Sumatra through ethnographic study as an effort to anticipate the misinterpretation of this tradition as local cultural wisdom. The focus of this study is an analysis of the tradition where a woman proposes to a man for marriage, which is a distinctive feature in Pariaman and not generally applicable across the entire West Sumatra region. This ethnographic review elaborates on historical literature, cultural anthropology, and local documentation to further identify the roots and uniqueness of the bajapuik tradition. Additionally, this article seeks to explore the socio-economic factors influencing the evolution of the bajapuik tradition. The bajapuik tradition is not merely a formal ceremony but also reflects social, symbolic values, and mutual respect between both parties in the context of marriage. To preserve the sustainability of this culture and tradition, there is a need for collaboration between religious, customary, and cultural values in interpreting and respecting the practice of proposing to men.

Abstract

This study describes the background, existence, and function of Lontiok Traditional Houses, the traditional dwellings of the Malay ethnic group in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. Employing a historical method, the research focuses on archaeological reliefs as the primary source and interviews as the secondary source. Source criticism ensures data authenticity and reliability, while data interpretation involves field analysis and literature review. Findings reveal that Lontiok Traditional Houses are not merely physical structures but also embody traditional art and Minangkabau cultural continuity. The intricate carvings preserve cultural traditions and educate Kampar's younger generation. These houses, reflecting high values of customs, art, and culture, serve as cultural tourist attractions and venues for traditional events such as leadership installations, deliberations, and weddings. The inauguration on May 22, 1988, on Belimbing Island highlights their significance in preserving Minangkabau cultural heritage.

Abstract

During the Dutch colonial era, Jember emerged as a prominent plantation area in Java, attracting significant investment from European private companies and a sizable European workforce. Despite their demanding roles in the plantation industry, Europeans frequently indulged in leisure activities across Jember, exploring its beaches, mountains, and forests. The burgeoning tourism sector was facilitated by the presence of accommodation and transportation infrastructure. Remarkably, colonial-era tourism sites continue to thrive, underscoring the enduring appeal of Jember's attractions. Various historical sources, including advertisements, newspapers, and guidebooks, offer fascinating insights into tourists' experiences. Historical research employing methods such as heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography reveals that Jember's tourism traces date back to the 14th century, resurging in the 19th century with the advent of European trading airlines. The convergence of plantation agriculture and tourism has spurred infrastructure and economic development in the region, with colonial-era accommodations and attractions retaining their allure today.

Abstract

Janti Park is a village-owned tourist attraction managed by BUMDes, which includes local community participation. BUMDes Jaya Janti continues to make various development efforts to maintain the existence of the Janti Park tourist attraction so that it can continue to provide benefits to the community. The purpose of this research is to find out how BUMDes implements the concept of community-based tourism in an effort to develop Janti Park tourist attractions in Klaten Regency. This research uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the community-based tourism concept through community empowerment and community participation was able to develop tourist destination attributes at the Janti Park tourist attraction, namely attractions, amenities, accessibilities, and ancillary.

Abstract

Using anime as a learning medium innovates Japanese language education, particularly in teaching Japanese folklore. This qualitative descriptive study assesses anime's efficacy in imparting knowledge of Japanese folklore to Japanese language learners. By examining various forms of folklore literature alongside anime featuring Japanese folklore themes, the research elucidates cultural meanings and societal aspects in Japan. For instance, "Kaguya Hime" anime adapts oral folklore, showcasing Japanese reverence for nature and Buddhist beliefs. "Chihayafuru" anime features Karuta, a traditional Japanese folk game, reflecting discipline and appreciation for nature depicted in Japanese poetry. "Deaimon" anime portrays non-verbal folklore through traditional Japanese cuisine, emphasizing Japan's reverence for nature evident in culinary artistry. The findings underscore anime's potential to deepen learners' understanding of Japanese culture and folklore, fostering cross-cultural appreciation and linguistic proficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of online visitation service quality on the satisfaction of inmates at the Class III Women's Penitentiary in Manokwari. The background of this research highlights the importance of inmate rehabilitation programs based on the correctional system to develop well-rounded individuals, as stipulated by Law PAS-14.OT.02.02 of 2014 on Correctional Service Standards. Ensuring the rights of inmates, including visitation services, is essential for their well-being and reintegration. This quantitative study utilized a sample of 47 respondents. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis, partial tests, and coefficient of determination tests. The findings indicate that the quality of online visitation services significantly influences inmate satisfaction. The study concludes by underscoring the necessity of enhancing visitation service quality to improve inmate satisfaction and support their reintegration process into society as responsible and productive members.

Abstract

This qualitative case study investigates teacher-student interpersonal communication at SMK N 1 Muara Bungo, with a specific focus on its effectiveness in addressing student delinquency. The findings underscore a nurturing environment that cultivates empathy and fosters social cohesion. Teachers demonstrate unwavering dedication, extending their support beyond school hours, which potentially aids in mitigating delinquent behaviors. Notable outcomes include heightened understanding, positive attitude shifts, and observable behavioral improvements among students. However, persistent challenges such as language barriers and the influence of technology hinder educators' efforts in effectively addressing delinquency. The study emphasizes the crucial role of nurturing positive relationships, providing sustained support, and implementing appropriate regulations and supervision to optimize communication strategies. By prioritizing these elements, educators can enhance their ability to create conducive environments that foster effective communication, ultimately contributing to a reduction in delinquency rates and promoting positive student outcomes.

Abstract

This analysis of Mahyeldi Ansharullah's political leadership style as Mayor of Padang for the 2014-2019 period, departs from Mahyeldi's political leadership style as Mayor of Padang which displays a different political leadership style from the leadership of the previous Mayor. Mahyeldi had served as Deputy Mayor of the previous government period and during his leadership period, Padang City was considered to have experienced significant changes in urban development and governance as evidenced by various awards or achievements that have been obtained by Padang City. Mahyeldi, as a political leader, certainly has a certain leadership style, and there are also a number of factors that influence his political leadership. This is what is studied through research that has been conducted to find out: 1) How is the form of political leadership style applied by Mahyeldi Ansharullah as Mayor of Padang for the 2014-2019 period; 2) Factors that influence his leadership style. The theory used in this research is the theory of transformational leadership and servant leadership. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods, selecting informants using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. The result of this research is that the political leadership style applied by Mahyeldi Ansharullah as Mayor of Padang which is analysed by combining the theories of servant leadership and transformational leadership has not been fully able to be applied optimally. In this study, it was found that there are two forms of leadership style used by Mahyeldi Ansharullah; First, Mahyeldi as a regional head tries to carry out his duties and responsibilities to the community and his relationship with employees in the Padang City Government in improving performance for development and improving public services. Secondly, on the other hand in a dilemma Mahyeldi as Mayor which is a political position carried by a political party, he must accommodate political interests and must submit to the orders of his party. And the factors that influence Mahyeldi Ansharullah's political leadership style as Mayor of Padang are divided into two types, namely internal factors that come from his personality and external factors derived from the influence of his political party group.
