Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fractions of breadfruit leaves (Artocarpus altilis) against Propionibacterium acnes. This research method is a laboratory experimental method using a maceration extraction process with 96% ethanol solvent, then the results of the thick extract were diffracted using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water solvents made with concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% for each fraction. Furthermore, phytochemical screening and antibacterial activity tests were carried out against Propionibacterium acnes in each fraction. The inhibition zone against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria in the water fraction with a concentration of 10% was 12.47 mm, 15% was 12.88 mm and 20% was 13.37 mm. The inhibition zone of the ethyl acetate fraction with a concentration of 10% was 12.22 mm, a concentration of 15% was 12.62 mm and a concentration of 20% was 13.27. The inhibition zone in the n-hexane fraction with a concentration of 10% was 12.42 mm, 15% was 12.68 mm and 20% was 13.25 mm. It was concluded that for the n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate and breadfruit leaf water (Artocarpus altilis) have antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the cognitive and affective learning outcomes of students and the improvement of learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 3 Waingapu after implementing the Think Pair Share model assisted by Leaflet media equipped with LKS Crossword puzzles. The research data were obtained from the results of questionnaires, interviews, and assessments of student learning outcomes. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) involving 30 students. The results of the study showed a significant increase with the percentage of student learning outcomes completion in the pre-cycle of 27%, increasing by 50% in cycle I, then increasing to 83% in cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the Think Pair Share model combined with Leaflet media and equipped with LKS Crossword puzzles can improve learning outcomes and students' cognitive and affective abilities in science lessons.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Logan Avenue Problem Solving-Heuristic learning model on student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 2 Onolalu. The method used was a quasi-experimental method. The population of the study was all 54 students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Onolalu. The sample of the study was class VIII-a as the experimental class and class VIII-b as the control class. The instrument used was a learning outcome test consisting of a pretest and posttest. Based on the hypothesis test, tcount = 2.0066 was obtained so that tcount> ttable, namely 7.6033> 2.0066. This shows that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. With the acceptance of H1, it is concluded that the Logan Avenue Problem Solving-Heuristic learning model has an effect on student learning outcomes. The researcher's suggestion is that science teachers, especially biology subject teachers, are expected to use the Logan Avenue Problem Solving-Heuristic learning model in learning because this learning model can explore and guide student knowledge oriented towards student participation in learning in the classroom.

Abstract

Kampung Mamolo, located in South Nunukan District, North Kalimantan, is one of the key centers for seaweed cultivation in the Indonesia–Malaysia border region. This study aims to explore the seaweed species cultivated by the local community and to examine their morphological characteristics and economic value. A qualitative descriptive method was used, involving field observations, interviews with seaweed farmers, and literature review. The findings identified nine seaweed species from three major divisions: Chlorophyta, Phaeophyta, and Rhodophyta. Among these, three species—Eucheuma cottonii, Eucheuma spinosum, and Kappaphycus alvarezii—are actively cultivated due to their high economic value as sources of carrageenan widely used in food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. Cultivation is carried out traditionally using the floating-line system, which has proven effective in supporting sustainable production. This research contributes to the documentation of local marine biodiversity and its potential to enhance coastal community livelihoods.

Abstract

Mangroves are known to have various important roles and benefits, one of which is protecting the land area behind them. Research on mangrove diversity has never been carried out on Manikin Beach, so this research was carried out. The aim of this research is to determine the diversity of mangroves on Manikin Beach, Central Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The research method is a descriptive method, with direct surveys in the field. Based on the research results, the species found in the mangrove ecosystem area consisted of 9 species, namely Rhizophora Sp, Lumnitzera littorea, Avicennia officinalis, Excoecaria agallocha, Sonneratia alba, Aegialitis annulata, Derris trifoliata, Sapium indicum Willd, and Laguncularis racemosa. The species diversity index value, namely 2.104, shows that the diversity of mangrove species on Manikin Beach is categorized into the medium category. The dominance index value obtained is 0.132, it can be said that the dominance of mangrove species is moderate. The evenness value is 0.957. This shows that the mangrove evenness index includes a level of evenness while the community is unstable. The mangrove species richness index is included in the low category because it has an average species richness level of 1,800.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of epiphytic plants found in oil palm plantations in Kakullasan Village, Tommo District, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi. Sampling was conducted using the exploration method, namely exploring the predetermined location using 4 plots measuring 10x10 m, then taking samples found and recording the condition of the location or place where the epiphytic plants grow. From the results of the study, ferns (Pteridophyta) were found and no moss (Bryophyta) was found. The total number of ferns from each plot was 88 consisting of 9 types of species divided into 5 classes of ferns, namely Pteridopsida, Filicopsida, Polypodiopsida, Filicinae and Gleicheniopsida. For the Pteridopsida class, 3 types of species were found, namely Drynaria quercifolia, Phymatosorus scolopendria and Nephrolepis exalata. The Filicopsida class found the species Dryopteris filix-mas and the Polypodiopsida class found the species Vittaria lineata. Filicinae class found 3 types of species, namely Asplenium nidus, Davalia solida and Davalia denticulate. Gleicheniopsida class found 1 type of species, namely Gleichenia linearis. The dominance index ranges between 0.002 - 0.023 which means that no species dominates because none of them are close to the value of 1, while the species diversity index is classified as high because the diversity index value is H’ = 1.206 or greater than 1 (H>1)

Abstract

The excessive application of inorganic fertilizers in agriculture leads to environmental degradation, necessitating sustainable alternatives. This study evaluated the effectiveness of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) formulated from banana peel, mango peel, and rice washing water on the vegetative growth of Ipomoea reptans. The research employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatment concentrations: 0 ml/L (control), 10 ml/L, 20 ml/L, and 30 ml/L, each replicated three times. Growth parameters assessed at 21 days after planting included plant height, number of leaves, number of roots, and fresh weight. Laboratory analysis revealed nutrient content of 0.04% nitrogen, 0.17% phosphorus, and 3.04% potassium, indicating a potassium-dominant formulation. The 10 ml/L treatment resulted in the highest plant height (18.00 cm), while the 30 ml/L treatment yielded the highest leaf number (9.33) and fresh weight (0.47 g). However, one-way ANOVA showed no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05) among treatments. The novelty of this research lies in utilizing a combination of commonly discarded household organic waste as a low-cost biofertilizer with measurable nutrient content. Although short-term results were statistically insignificant, the formulation demonstrates potential for refinement and longer application in sustainable agriculture

Abstract

Penyakit gugur daun tanaman karet disebabkan oleh jamur patogen yang menginfeksi jaringan pada daun tanaman karet, gejala yang timbul pada daun memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda-beda, hal ini disebabkan oleh perbedaan jenis jamur patogen yang menginfeksi daun tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui macam-macam jamur patogen yang diisolasi dari daun tanaman karet. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Fisiologi Unit Riset Sungei Putih. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Dari hasil isolasi daun bergejala gugur daun karet didapatkan 11 isolat jamur diantaranya 8 isolat yang telah teridentifikasi jamur patogen yaitu jamur Colletotrichum gloeosporidaes (1 isolat), Pestalotiopsis sp. (3 isolat), dan Corynespora cassiicola (4 isolat), dan yang teridentifikasi jamur antagonis yaitu jamur Penicillium sp. (2 isolat). Serta 1 isolat yang belum dapat teridentifikasi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of combining the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model with the Quizizz application on students’ learning interest and conceptual understanding in the topic of the excretory system. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Maumere using a quantitative approach and a pre-experimental method, specifically a One-Group Pretest-Post-test Design. The sample consisted of 20 students from class VIII B. Instruments used for data collection included a pretest, post-test, and a questionnaire. The pretest results showed an average score of 35.00, which increased to 88.25 in the post-test. Students’ learning interest also demonstrated a significant improvement, with an average percentage of 89.125%, categorized as very good. Statistical analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test revealed a significance value of < 0.001, indicating a substantial effect of the TPS learning model and Quizizz application on students’ learning interest and conceptual understanding. The study concluded that the combination of TPS and Quizizz is an effective learning strategy that fosters an active, enjoyable learning process while enhancing student engagement and understanding.

Abstract

This article aims to determine the effect of audiovisual media on the kicking skills of second-grade students at Waioti Elementary School. Audiovisual media is media that includes moving images or films and sound. This research was a quantitative research with an experimental method using the Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design model. The sample in this study consisted of 32 students, with the sampling technique using probability sampling, and data collection techniques used were observation and tests. The results of this study indicated that the result of the initial ability (pretest) before using audiovisual media was 50.39% or average ability. The result of the final ability (posttest) after using audiovisual media was 83.48% average ability as well. The test results using the t-test showed that the t value 15.265 > ttable 2.039 at a significance level of 5%. Hence, Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected It could also be seen from the significance value (2-tailed) 0.001 < 0.05, therefore Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. So it was concluded that there was an influence of audiovisual media on the ball kicking skills of grade II students at SDK Waioti.
