Abstract

The creation of "The Unseen Side of Sidoarjo" book as a communication media for Save Street Child Sidoarjo Community: Quality Education is point number 4 in the Sustainable Development Goals promoted by the United Nations. As a non-profit organization that cares for street children, Save Street Child (SSC) tried to reach out to cities in Indonesia until the emergence of the SSC Sidoarjo branch, which until now is still challenging to socialize concerns for street children in Sidoarjo city. Qualitative research will be conducted with field studies and primary and secondary data collection to gain a comprehensive understanding of the lives of street children in support of SSC Sidoarjo. This research will produce a documentary photo book that tells the stories of several Sidoarjo street children and information to support the SSC Sidoarjo community. Researchers designing "The Unseen Side of Sidoarjo"'s book found that combining photos with narrative, concept, and sequential content improves the delivery of social issues.

Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) represent a global action plan endorsed by world leaders, including Indonesia, comprising 17 Goals and 169 Targets, the SDGs aspire to be achieved by 2030. This study focuses on environmental preservation, aligning with Goal 15 (preserving terrestrial ecosystems), Goal 6 (access to clean water and sanitation) and Goal 14 (conserving marine ecosystems). Environmental degradation remains a detrimental factor in disrupting Earth's natural ecosystems, impacting various aspects of the environment and giving rise to problems such as floods, which inevitably lead to various diseases, bacteria, and even viruses. Waste is generated, ranging from household refuse to industrial waste. Our current challenge lies in a lack of public awareness regarding the importance of responsible waste sorting. We hope that the public will shift their perspective on waste from being a "negative" aspect to a resource that can be repurposed for the betterment of society and the environment. To raise awareness, we have created short videos featuring testimonies from individuals affected by waste pollution in their communities. Waste management serves as a solution and is a crucial element of our video content, as it not only raises awareness but also imparts essential knowledge to the public, helping to reduce waste generation and simplify the waste separation process. This, in turn, minimizes the residual impact of waste disposal. Our study underscores the significance of promoting waste management awareness to achieve the SDGs. Through educational videos and public engagement, we aim to inspire individuals to take proactive steps in preserving our environment and building a sustainable future.

Abstract

This research seeks to elucidate digital feminist activism in the context of user interface design and content within the study of design, exploring the visual representation on the Alliance of New Men (ALB) website. The qualitative research method employed in this study, which includes a literature review, indicates that digital feminist activism within the user interface explains that the ALB website demonstrates a multi-faceted identity that cannot be confined to a single website characteristic. The website's user interface is more intuitive compared to offering a distinct uniqueness that deviates from the dominant values of ALB. On one hand, the ALB website's user interface breaks rigid boundaries in its layout flexibility, yet on the other hand, it still reflects the meaning of traditional gender stereotypes through color usage. The content related to domestic space in ALB appears to merely reverse roles, but it ultimately reverts to traditional codes of masculinity.

Abstract

Penajam Paser Utara Regency is in a strategic location to improve its brand identity. Its existence adjacent to the new State Capital (IKN) is an opportunity with great potential for developing all Penajam Paser Utara Regency (PPU) sectors. The natural wealth in the form of the sea, endemic fauna in the form of sambar deer, Mastogok traditional motifs and some rice-producing areas that can be said to be the granary of IKN food security are local values that will be visualized in the form of a logo that characterizes Penajam Paser Utara Regency, plus a location that can be said to be "Serambi Nusantara" which means that PPU is the front porch / front page of IKN. The method in designing the city branding logo of Penajam Paser Utara Regency is practice-based (Practice-based research) because the foundation at the beginning is the experience of directly observing and obtaining data directly from the community, regional officials, and local customary leaders. The stages in this method include observation, improvisation, and realization. Ultimately, this paper shows a comprehensive design process for creating a visual identity for a city/district, which begins with research, visual enrichment, and visual design finalization.

Abstract

This research aims to design a new typeface that reflects the characteristics of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) campus and can be used in a variety of contexts. The new typeface, ITS-Artistech, was created by synthesizing key features into the anatomy of Latin letters, which were extracted from the key characteristics and images of the ITS campus. The typeface is intended to be one of several typographic options that reflect ITS and to pioneer typeface production at ITS, contributing to the theoretical and practical body of knowledge on designing typefaces that reflect campus identity. The research method involved collecting data on the use of typefaces in the ITS environment and ITS profile, conducting perceptual studies to know how people perceive the images and characteristics of the ITS campus, and developing the typeface through a series of iterative refinement steps. The new typeface is a valuable resource for the ITS community, as it helps to promote the university's brand, foster a sense of community, and support the creative process and the research of typeface design. It is also a unique and distinctive typeface that is not based on any preexisting letters. The typeface is available as a digital letterform (font) that can be installed and used for a variety of purposes, including digital and print promotional materials.

Abstract

The creative furniture industry in East Kalimantan faces the challenge of less effective online marketing in e-commerce. In 2018, there were more than 370 furniture entrepreneurs in the region, but only 37% of their total production managed to reach the market. According to projections from Markets and Markets, the market value of Augmented Reality (AR) in e-commerce is expected to grow by 34% between 2020 and 2025. To overcome this problem, the use of 3D object configuration visual technology and AR presents a better solution. promising solution. This technology can improve product presentation, create a more interactive and realistic shopping experience, and reduce the environmental impact of e-commerce due to the re-shipment of non-conforming products. The main objective of the research is to assess the effectiveness of product communication, the ease of the purchasing process, and the level of consumer trust in the product. This visual method of 3D object configuration combines 3D scanning to produce detailed and realistic 3D images. This research uses a sprint design method based on design thinking, which involves co-creation to refine ideas. Next, a prototype design was developed with a focus on aspects of the user interface and user experience, fostering intelligent interaction between users and their environment, thus contributing to the progress of the Smart City concept in IKN Nusantara.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to adulthood. Due to this condition, adolescent development is also followed by other developmental tasks.
