Abstract

The decline in congregation commitment to remain rooted in the local church, as reported by the Bilangan Research Centre and Pew Research Centre, represents a significant challenge for churches in maintaining member engagement. Spiritual dissatisfaction is a key factor driving members to other churches. Church leaders play a crucial role in creating an environment that fosters commitment. Leadership marked by care and compassion strengthens the relationship between leaders and congregants, encouraging commitment through the example of Jesus as described in John 10:4. This study aims to examine the influence of shepherd leadership based on John 10:4 and organizational involvement on fostering organizational commitment in the local church, specifically at Gereja Bethel Indonesia (GBI) Light of The City. The research method involves a survey using a Likert scale, measuring organizational commitment with Allen and Meyer’s instrument, and organizational engagement using the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES). The results show that shepherd leadership based on the principles in John 10:4 and the level of congregational engagement play a role in building organizational commitment within the local church. Shepherd leadership, when applied contextually and relationally, can strengthen the congregation’s commitment to the church. However, the influence of shepherd leadership on organizational commitment is not direct, but is mediated by the level of organizational engagement among the congregants.

Abstract

Technological disruption has drastically transformed many aspects of life, including the way Generation Z engages with and expresses their spiritual practices in the digital age. Therefore, this article seeks to provide insight into how to build digital spirituality for generation Z who are saturated with digital technology. By using qualitative methods through the digital communication theology approach promoted by J. Sage Elwell, researchers found the inevitability of digital space as a sacred medium where generation Z can meet God personally. This study concludes that digital space is a bridge between God and generation Z, mediating spiritual experiences and providing broad accessibility in developing the faith community of generation Z. Thus, finding God in digital space is something important to strive for so that the spirituality of generation Z can continue to grow.

Furthermore, the reliance on these technologies has made Generation Alpha highly addictive to social media contents and AI, often leading Gen A indifference toward matters related to spirituality. The method used in this qualitative research is a literature study and hermeneutics with an expository approach to Deuteronomy 6:6-7. Abstract

Church leaders who adhere to the principle of absolute power often cause dissatisfaction among church members. This dissatisfaction can escalate into conflict when the leader lacks the knowledge and ability to manage a diverse congregation. In the digital era, conflicts can intensify because congregants can freely express their dissatisfaction on social media. Thus, this research aims to examine and analyze inclusive leadership as a relevant leadership approach in the digital era. This qualitative research uses descriptive and library research methods which will discuss the nature and theological basis of Christian leadership, the characteristics of inclusive leadership and the actualization and implications of inclusive leadership.. The results show that inclusive Christian Leadership, with its five main characteristics, can solve church leadership issues in the digital era. This leadership model strengthens church ministry amid the complexity of social identity, digital transformation, and cultural disruption.

Abstract

Various religions view non-faith marriage as a controversial decision and contrary to religious teachings. The reality is that many people, including Christians, enter into marriages outside their faith. This marriage is based on the view that it is an individual right. Furthermore, marriage is seen as a demonstration of love and a pursuit of happiness. This qualitative research uses literature and hermeneutic methods to expose the text of Genesis 6:1-4. The purpose of this research is to examine the meaning of the text of Genesis 6:1-4 through exposition. Then examines the theological implications of this exposition for the autonomy of the Christian individual. The exposition's findings demonstrate that unfaithful marriages contradict God's Word and are based primarily on physical appearance, neglecting spiritual qualities. Unfaithful marriages negatively impact not only the individual Christians themselves but also their families and offspring.

Abstract

Various surveys show that many Generation Z (Gen Z) admit to no longer attending church and are no longer affiliated with any church. One reason is that church services are no longer engaging. Church services are monotonous due to the lack of digital technology. Another obstacle is the use of slang in worship and the use of biblical slang. This study aims to describe the need for the use of biblical slang and its potential use in church services. This qualitative research uses library research and sociolinguistic methods. The results show the importance of using biblical slang in services attended by Gen Z. Churches also have the potential to provide space for services that use biblical slang.

Abstract

The advancements in technology and education have significantly influenced the learning patterns of Generation Alpha, In the learning process, students tend to use technology for things outside of learning activities. This study aims to analyze the application of educational technology based on the ARCS model (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction) in enhancing the learning motivation of this generation. Employing a descriptive qualitative method through interviews with five students from Rumah Belajar Sola Fidei in North Jakarta aged 12 to 14, along with literature studies supported by NVivo software, the research reveals that technology integrating ARCS elements can boost engagement and learning motivation among Generation Alpha. Tools that capture attention, are relevant, build self-confidence, and provide satisfaction have proven effective in creating enjoyable and meaningful learning experiences. Consequently, this study seeks to examine how technology can strengthen each element of ARCS to create a more engaging, relevant, and motivating learning environment within the context of digital education. In conclusion, the ARCS model can serve as an effective strategy for enhancing learning motivation among Generation Alpha in the digital age.

Abstract

SETARA Institute regularly releases data on various cases of violations of religious freedom that have occurred in Indonesia. Data shows that rejection of the construction and closure of houses of worship occurred in several regions, such as East Java, West Java, Central Java, Aceh and several other regions. These cases show that intolerance is still high in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of Christian Religious Education (PAK) in developing critical, tolerant, and just attitudes by referring to the results of theological interpretations of Romans 13:1–2. This descriptive qualitative research uses a literature study approach, complemented by a theological approach to explore contextual meaning. Findings based on analysis of the text Romans 13:1-2 show that obedience to the government is a form of obedience to God, without ignoring the principles of justice, love and religious freedom. The research findings illustrate that PAK has a strategic role in equipping Christians peoples to become agents of peace, capable of responding wisely to socio-political conflicts, and balancing obedience to authority with efforts to fight for religious rights. PAK also contributes to the formation of tolerant Christian communities, a harmonious pluralistic society, and improved interfaith relations. Thus, PAK not only shapes individual character but also supports the peaceful creation of social justice and religious freedom

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has brought significant transformation to society, including in the realm of religious practice and church ministry. Churches are required to adapt wisely to remain relevant and actively engage within the dynamic digital society. This study aims to analyze the church’s role and strategies in interacting with the social community in the digital era, focusing on the digital ministry implementation at GBI Tabgha Batam. The research employed a qualitative approach through literature study and interviews to understand firsthand experiences of church ministers involved in digital transformation. The findings reveal that GBI Tabgha Batam successfully utilized digital technology to expand its spiritual and social outreach through enhanced digital literacy, development of interactive platforms, hybrid worship services, and creative dissemination of spiritual materials. The church also maintains ethical and digital security standards in managing congregation data and reporting social programs such as Cahaya Obor Berkat (COB) and Start2B. These findings affirm that digitalization is not merely a technical adaptation but an integral part of the church’s theological calling to embody Christ’s love and transformation in the modern world. By implementing ethical and well-structured digital strategies, the church can strengthen its relevance, expand social impact, and build an inclusive faith community in the digital era.
