Abstract

The development of digital technology requires MSMe players, such as pottery craftsmen, to adapt modern marketing strategies in order to increase competitiveness and market reach. To address this need, the English Literature Study Program Team at UNY carried out a Community Service (PkM) activity to improve digital marketing skills for pottery craftsmen in Melikan Village, Wedi District, Klaten. The activity focused on training in product photography and videography using smartphones, content editing via Canva, utilizing WhatsApp Business, and creating landing pages. The training was conducted using two approaches: (1) experiential learning, where participants were guided to directly apply what they learned, and (2) remote mentoring as a means of consultation and assistance for independent practice. The training outcomes, evaluated through direct observation and questionnaires, showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding and skills in managing digital content as a promotional medium for pottery. Participants found the program highly beneficial, and all expressed a desire for similar follow-up training. This program not only encourages digital independence among artisans in managing product promotions more professionally but also expands the online marketing reach of pottery artisans' products.

Abstract

Badas District, Kediri Regency is one of the main centers for catfish breeding in East Java. Despite its high production potential, the main challenge faced by fish farmers is limited market access due to the continued dominance of conventional marketing methods. This situation results in low profits for farmers and even leads to losses when their production is not absorbed by the market. In the digital era, the use of information and communication technology is a strategic solution to increase product competitiveness through digital marketing. The objective of this community service activity is to provide digital marketing training to fish farmers in Badas Village, utilizing social media and e-commerce platforms to expand market reach. The implementation method includes socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. Socialization is carried out to provide an understanding of the importance of digital marketing, followed by training on the use of social media and e-commerce, and the creation of promotional content. Mentoring is provided so that participants can manage digital accounts sustainably. Evaluation is carried out through pre- and post-tests to measure improvements in participants' digital literacy. The results of the activity show a significant increase in participants' level of understanding. Before the training, the majority were in the "Don't Know" category (60–90%). After the training, the "Quite Know" and "Know" categories dominate, with a small number of participants even reaching the "Very Know" category. This demonstrates the training's effectiveness in improving digital literacy and marketing capacity among farmers. Digital marketing training has proven to be an effective strategy for expanding market access, increasing competitiveness, and supporting sustainable local economic empowerment in Badas Village.

Abstract

UMKM olahan ikan di Desa Panembangan menghadapi hambatan kemasan dan pelabelan yang membatasi akses ke ritel modern serta pemasaran digital. Poklaksar Ummi Mandiri mengolah hasil samping lele menjadi kerupuk tulang ikan, namun kemasan lama (plastik bening, informasi terbatas) menurunkan daya saing. Kegiatan pengabdian dirancang untuk memperbaiki mutu kemasan, menyusun panel gizi berbasis uji laboratorium, dan memperkuat pemasaran. Intervensi diharapkan meningkatkan persepsi kualitas, keterbacaan informasi, dan penerimaan pasar. Tujuannya adalah meningkatkan kualitas desain dan fungsi kemasan agar sesuai standar pasar serta menyediakan label gizi akurat sebagai dasar transparansi dan penetrasi ritel. Metode meliputi peninjauan kebutuhan, lokakarya desain kemasan, uji gizi proksimat, penyusunan panel gizi per 100 g, pelatihan barcode/GTIN dan promosi digital, serta monitoring & evaluation melalui survei pra–pasca dan uji pasar A/B shelf test sederhana. Hasil perbaikan kemasan menjadi standing pouch paper metalize menunjukkan kenaikan skor pada enam aspek kemasan (visual, warna, tipografi, labeling, keunikan, fungsionalitas), tersusunnya panel gizi dan kemasan baru, serta peningkatan kesiapan ritel. Uji harga merekomendasikan penyesuaian dari Rp11.800/100 g menjadi Rp14.000–Rp15.000/100 g, sejalan dengan nilai tambah kemasan dan informasi gizi. Disimpulkan bahwa perbaikan kemasan, label gizi, dan strategi pemasaran berhasil menjawab tujuan program dan memperkuat daya saing produk. Model pelatihan–pendampingan kegiatan ini dapat direplikasi sebagai percontohan bagi Poklaksar lain.
