Abstract

Indonesian farmers still largely depend on chemical fertilizers, which in the long term can reduce soil quality and increase agricultural production costs. In Tunggulo Village, Tilongkabila District, Bone Bolango Regency, the use of organic waste such as fish waste and banana peels is still very limited and is generally only discarded. However, this waste contains nutrients that can be used as raw materials for making liquid organic fertilizer through a fermentation process. Therefore, community empowerment activities are needed to increase knowledge and skills in processing organic waste into environmentally friendly and economically valuable liquid fertilizer. This community service activity used a pre-test and post-test design to measure changes in participants' knowledge before and after training. The activity was carried out in three main stages, namely preparation, counseling, and training in the production of fermented liquid fertilizer based on fish waste and kepok banana peels. A total of 20 participants who were members of farmer groups were actively involved in the activities. The results of the activities showed an increase in participants' understanding after attending the counseling and training. The average pre-test score of 7.70% shows that participants' initial knowledge of fermented liquid fertilizer was still very low, while the post-test score increased to 81.83% after the activity was carried out. This increase shows that demonstration-based extension and training methods are effective in improving community knowledge and skills. Participants were also able to practice the process of making liquid fertilizer independently and showed interest in developing production on a household scale. This activity not only increased community awareness of organic waste management but also opened up opportunities for the development of sustainable agriculture-based village businesses.

Abstract

The administration of village government requires a set of rules based on the authority of the village. These rules are not only established by the village collectively, but also by village leaders independently or through agreements between village leaders, while still taking into account the national legal framework and the dynamics of local community needs. In practice, there is still a lack of understanding among village officials regarding Permendagri No. 111 of 2014 concerning Technical Guidelines for Regulations in Villages. This condition is exacerbated by the lack of guidance and training from the local government, resulting in the village head and the Village Consultative Body (BPD) not having the optimal capacity to formulate participatory and high-quality village regulations. The community service activity was held in Bolok Village, West Kupang District, Kupang Regency, with the aim of strengthening the knowledge and abilities of officials in the formation of participatory regulations, with 41 participants. The activity method was designed to encourage the active participation of village officials and the community in the formation of village regulations through socialization and interactive discussions. In addition, technical training on the drafting of village regulations was conducted in accordance with the provisions of Permendagri 111 of 2014 to improve understanding and practical skills. The results of the activity were measured through feedback from the participants, which showed an increase in their understanding of the mechanism for drafting village regulations based on applicable legal norms. Participants understood the importance of community involvement in every stage of the formulation of village regulations. In addition, participants were able to independently identify problems and formulate local needs to be included in village regulations. This activity also strengthened the capacity of village officials and BPDs in applying participatory principles that comply with legal principles. Overall, the activity contributed to improving the quality of village regulation formulation to be more democratic and responsive to public interests.

Abstract

The development of sago as a local food source in Tuada Village, West Halmahera Regency, aims to realize an independent food village based on local potential. The purpose of this activity is to increase the use of sago as a local food through socialization activities, training in processing sago-based products, and strengthening community capacity in the development of local food businesses in Tuada Village, West Halmahera Regency. The main activities include strengthening the capacity of Marimoi MSMEs in managing sago processing businesses, which enable the community to improve entrepreneurial skills. This activity also includes counseling, training on the practice of processing sago into various food products, as well as assistance in economic, financial and marketing analysis to community groups. Education on the application of sago manufacturing methods to ensure food quality and safety, so that sago-based products can meet higher market standards. In addition, knowledge transfer on innovative processing techniques for sago products, macaroni products and sago egg snacks. This program also emphasizes strengthening the community's economic institutions through collaborative product marketing strategies, thereby expanding market reach and strengthening the position of local products. Applied technologies such as processing equipment and business management, packaging, and promotional strategies. Household-scale sago flour production and product diversification showed positive results from technical, financial, and economic perspectives. The development of sago not only contributes to local food security but also plays an important role in improving community welfare and strengthening the economy of Tuada Village.

Abstract

Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUBE) Kerupuk Lomang Ubi Bersinar Kuok in Kuok District, Kampar Regency, faces priority problems in the aspects of production and business management. From the production side, product quality has not yet been standardized due to the absence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), while the use of manual tools limits production capacity and makes it difficult to compete with other SMEs that are more modern. From the management side, KUBE is still run informally, without a proper financial recording system, and applies marketing strategies that only focus on local markets without utilizing digitalization. This community service program was carried out using a sociopreneurship and participatory empowerment approach. The implementation methods included technical production training (quality control, SOP preparation, and product certification assistance), facilitation of modern production equipment, training on business management and financial recording using applications, as well as training on digital marketing strategies and product branding. The activities were supported by multi-stakeholder collaboration, including the village government, sub-district authorities, and the University, while also involving students through the MBKM program. The results of the program showed significant improvements in production quality and capacity, the establishment of better-organized financial records, and the development of digital-based marketing strategies that expanded market access. The social impact was evident from the increased role of women as KUBE members who became more economically independent, while the economic impact was reflected in improved productivity, members’ income, and the competitiveness of products based on local potential.

Abstract

Oyster mushroom cultivation in Rumpin District, Bogor Regency, faces significant productivity constraints due to unstable temperatures and humidity in the mushroom houses (kumbung). Management that still relies on manual methods causes extreme environmental fluctuations. This condition directly leads to inconsistent harvests and a high susceptibility to failure. As a result, the partner farmers' income improvement is hindered. This community service program aims to design and implement an automatic watering system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) to maintain environmental stability in the mushroom houses. The activity methods included the design and implementation of an IoT-based automatic watering system. This system utilizes a DHT22 sensor, a NodeMCU microcontroller, and a water pump actuator, accompanied by intensive training and mentoring for partner farmers. The results of this technology implementation show significant changes. The system is able to maintain stable humidity in the mushroom house within the optimal range of 60-80% automatically. This has a direct impact on an 18% increase in average monthly harvest yields. Furthermore, the baglog failure rate decreased dramatically by 60%, and work time efficiency increased by over 90% as the manual watering process was replaced. In conclusion, the utilization of IoT technology is proven to be an effective solution for increasing the productivity and efficiency of oyster mushroom cultivation.

Abstract

Henti jantung mendadak masih menjadi salah satu penyebab kematian terbanyak di dunia dengan angka kelangsungan hidup pasien dengan henti jantung diluar rumah sakit (OHCA) antara 5-10%. Tingkat pertolongan (pemberian CPR) oleh masyarakat awam yang rendah merupakan masalah utama dalam proses penyelamatan. Pelatihan CPR berbasis sekolah merupakan salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan masyarakat dalam menghadapi kasus henti jantung mendadak. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta tentang cara melakukan CPR dan menggunakan Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Kegiatan pelatihan CPR dilaksanakan pada 21–22 Agustus 2024 di SMPN 1 Wagir dengan 100 peserta (81 siswa dan 19 guru). Pelatihan mencakup hands-only CPR, penggunaan AED, praktik manekin, dan metode irama lagu untuk menjaga kualitas kompresi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pretest–posttest serta pengumpulan data demografi dan kesediaan bertindak. Mayoritas peserta pelatihan belum pernah belajar maupun melakukan CPR sebelumnya. Rata-rata skor pengetahuan meningkat signifikan dari 67,6 menjadi 85,3 (p=0,000). Setelah pelatihan, 89% peserta bersedia melakukan CPR pada keluarga, 87% pada orang lain, dan 82% menggunakan AED, menunjukkan peningkatan self-efficacy. Metode praktik langsung dengan irama lagu dan dukungan sebaya memperkuat kepercayaan diri peserta. Keterlibatan guru berpotensi memperluas dampak sebagai multiplier dalam membangun kapasitas kesiapsiagaan komunitas sekolah terhadap henti jantung. Selain meningkatkan kapasitas komunitas di sekolah, program ini juga dapat digunakan sebagai model untuk pendidikan tanggap darurat berbasis masyarakat.

Abstract

Luka bakar merupakan cedera pada kulit yang muncul akibat panas, listrik, bahan kimia, gesekan, atau radiasi. Di rumah, luka bakar umumnya terjadi karena air panas, cipratan minyak panas, kontak dengan benda panas (seperti panci, wajan, dan peralatan dapur lainnya), atau terkena api dari kompor. Cara merawat luka bakar berbeda-beda tergantung pada tingkat keparahan yang dialami. Luka bakar yang tidak diobati dengan benar dan cepat bisa mengakibatkan berbagai masalah seperti infeksi, syok, dan ketidakseimbangan elektrolit. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan edukasi kesehatan guna meningkatkan pemahaman tentang pertolongan pertama luka bakar di rumah. Selain itu tim juga ingin melakukan edukasi penanganan luka bakar dengan pendekatan 3C (cool,clear, cover). Metode yang digunakan yaitu melakukan penyuluhan/ edukasi yang dengan target peningkatan pengetahuan warga tentang pertolongan pertama pada kejadian luka bakar rumah tangga. Edukasi dilakukan dalam sesi pertemuan yang direncanakan dengan melibatkan beberapa kader kesehatan yang ada di Jagalan Tawangmangu. Selain edukasi tim juga mengajarkan bagaimana melakukan penanganan awal luka bakar dengan tehnik 3C yaitu cool, clear dan cover. Penilaian pengetahuan menggunakan kuesioner yang berisi 12 pertanyaan/pernyataan  yang diberikan 2 kali sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Desain yang digunakan adalah pretest-postes. Jumlah responden yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini adalah 20 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sebelum edukasi 70 % responden menunjukan pengetahuan yang kurang dan setelah edukasi 85% responden memiliki pengetahuan yang baik tentang penanganan luka bakar rumah tangga. Peserta kegiatan sangat antusias mengikuti kegiatan ini. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini menunjukan bahwa kegiatan edukasi dapat meningkatkan pengetahauan masyarakat tentang penanganan pertama luka bakar di rumah tangga.

Abstract

Rusmy Rose Teh Bunga Telang UMKM has potential in herbal products but faces serious obstacles in management and marketing. The business management system, particularly financial and stock recording, is still done manually and is unstructured. In addition, marketing activities are very limited to offline sales and do not utilize digital platforms, resulting in stagnant turnover and a narrow market reach. This community service activity aims to digitize business management and marketing to improve the performance and competitiveness of MSMEs. The method used is participatory empowerment. The activity was carried out in three main stages: assessment (FGD), training (digital management, branding, e-commerce, AI), and technology implementation assistance. The results of the activity showed significant changes in the partners. In terms of management, partners have implemented digital financial and stock records using Google Sheets. In terms of marketing, partners now have and manage e-commerce accounts (Shopee, Tokopedia) and websites. Partners are also able to produce independent promotional content using Canva and AI. The main impact is an increase in average monthly sales turnover of 20-30%. Additionally, the market reach has been successfully expanded to new areas such as Purbalingga, Banjarnegara, and Cilacap. It is concluded that comprehensive digitalization of management and marketing has proven effective in improving the performance and competitiveness of Rusmy Rose UMKM

Abstract

Stunting remains one of the most complex nutritional problems, influenced not only by dietary patterns and nutrient intake but also by poor environmental sanitation. One of the indirect causes of sanitation problems is the suboptimal management of household waste, particularly food waste, which accumulates and poses a risk of environmental contamination. Improper food waste management can increase the potential for disease transmission and worsen environmental conditions. This activity aimed to improve participants’ knowledge and skills in reducing household waste through the efficient implementation of food preparation and meal preparation concepts, as well as the utilization of food residues for composting. The methods included socialization, education, and direct simulation of compost production using a participatory approach, enabling participants to understand and apply waste management practices independently and sustainably. The results showed an increase of 70–80% in participants’ knowledge regarding food waste management and sustainable kitchen practices. This community service activity promotes the creation of environmentally friendly sustainable kitchens and is expected to contribute to improving household sanitation and preventing stunting in the community.

Abstract

Keterbatasan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap Undang-Undang Nomor 35 Tahun 2014 tentang Perlindungan Anak masih menjadi persoalan mendasar, terutama terkait langkah yang harus ditempuh ketika anak menjadi korban kekerasan, serta masih adanya hak-hak anak yang belum terpenuhi. Perlindungan hukum bagi anak menjadi penting guna menjamin masa depan mereka. Untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai ketentuan tersebut, diperlukan pendidikan hukum melalui kegiatan penyuluhan dan konsultasi hukum. Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan masyarakat dapat memahami aspek hukum dalam penanganan anak yang berhadapan dengan hukum serta mampu melindungi hak anak, baik sebagai korban maupun pelaku tindak pidana. Pengetahuan tersebut diharapkan dapat menumbuhkan sikap sadar hukum dan mendorong implementasinya di lingkungan masyarakat. Permasalahan yang ditemukan oleh Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ialah masih rendahnya pemahaman siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan di Kabupaten Rote Ndao terhadap penerapan Undang-Undang Perlindungan Anak. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian ini menawarkan solusi berupa penjelasan mendalam mengenai: (1) Hak Asasi Manusia, (2) Konvensi Hak Anak, dan (3) Hak-hak Anak dalam sistem peraturan perundang-undangan di Indonesia. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan sosialisasi dan penyuluhan agar peserta memiliki pemahaman mengenai pentingnya perlindungan anak serta mampu mengimplementasikan alternatif solusi yang ditawarkan. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini, diharapkan masyarakat sasaran dapat berkolaborasi dengan pihak-pihak terkait dalam mewujudkan perlindungan terhadap hak-hak anak. Adapun sasaran kegiatan ini meliputi guru dan siswa SMK Negeri 1 Lobalain, Kabupaten Rote Ndao.
