Abstract

The aim of this community service is to improve the environment and public health in the city of Bengkulu, and the success of the human development index in the health sector. While the goal in particular is the amount of waste in the landfill can be significantly reduced over time so that the cleanliness of the environment and health can be realized, can boost the economic value of the plastic waste from households because it can be sold to a factory producing plastic pellets and machinery This can help people who are interested in waste processing technology to become entrepreneurs plastic pellets. This activity lasted for ten months in cooperation with two partners, namely the Parks Department and Sanitation of Bengkulu and CV Terang Bulan engaged in the sale of plastic waste. In implementing this program assisted with the research team of students to design and create a municipal waste processing machine a plastic which is more practical with affordable production costs for society. On completion of this machine in addition to the stages involves students will also involve CV. Terang Bulan as a partner in business who have started this garbage. The partners are expected to play an active role in providing fill-enter on the specifications desired by the user. Abstract

Eye refractive errors that are not handled seriously will affect the intellectual development of children. The learning process is stunted children can affect the quality, creativity, and productivity in the productive age. Early detection of refractive errors can be done with a simple eye. Its objective is to equip UKS teachers in practicing the use of Snellen chart as an ongoing screening program for the prevention of risks of children with visual impairments in children of primary school age. The method of this activity is done by providing direct training to the teachers, especially primary school UKS teachers to use the Snellen chart. Training activities and practice the use of Snellen chart for UKS teachers of primary schools in the district Taba Penanjung place smoothly as expected. Need governments to elementary schools were able to detect and follow up on children who experience eye refractive errors early on an ongoing basis. Keywords: refraction, Snellen chart, training

Abstract

Community Service Activity (CSA) of the application of science and technology entitled "Application of Liquid-Gas Phase Extraction Technology on Development of Kalamansi-Orange-Based Products" has been completed. This activity aims to implement gas-liquid extraction technology, namely steam distillation in extracting essential oils from residues of Kalamansi orange syrup processing, providing knowledge and ways to process Kalamansi orange essential oil into products which have economic value in addition to syrup. It was carried out with the target audience, namely Bhakti Nusa Production Unit in SMKS 16 Bengkulu. It is done to help the production unit to develop Kalamansi-based products by utilizing residues produced by syrup which is rich in essential oils. The products produced on the CSA of the application of science and technology include aromatherapy candles, air freshener gels, anti-mosquito lotions and Bay Tat cakes of Kalamansi jam. The product produced is more widely informed through the socialization activity that received a response and enthusiasm from the audience. Products of CSA of the application of science and technology are expected to be a superior product from the Bhakti Nusa Production Unit of SMKS 16 Pharmacy as well as to be a top-quality product of the pride of Bengkulu City with high economic value. Keywords: Extraction, Liqiud-Gas, Kalamansi, Essential oil

Abstract

ABSTRACTBengkulu is an active participant in the National Science Olympic competition in junior level. But the achievement of Bengkulu’s students is not prominent, especially in the fieldof Mathematics. Until now Bengkulu has never been quite encouraging achievement in theOSN. Department of Mathematics University of Bengkulu has a human resource that ispromising, the competent faculty who can nurture, guide, and prepare students of SMPNegeri 2 Bengkulu to compete in the OSN. Therefore, students of SMP 2 Bengkulu will becoached to understand, analyze and answer the questions, so that they know the mathOlympic the strategy and the ways that fast in answering the Olympics questions correctly,so they will be a champion at the provincial and national competition. After coaching isdone, it can be concluded that this activity has not been a significant influence. Abstract

Sumber Rezeki Farmers Group and Maju Bersama Farmers Group are the farmers group existing at Tabeak Kauk village within 150 km from Bengkulu City. Sumber Rezeki Farmers Group and Maju Bersama Farmers Group were formed in 1999 with 20 members of each. One of the activities of farmer groups is fish farming. The most dominant fish cultivated by the farmers is the Goldfish, but a byproduct of farming Goldfish is Siamese Snakeskin fish. Siamese Snakeskin fish during this time include wild fish due to grow and multiply without cultivated by farmers. Snakeskin fish when cultivated intensively will provide enormous benefits for the economic development of members of farmer groups and villagers at Tabeak Kauk village, besides the easiness in the maintenance, the value of Siamese Snakeskin fish can be increased into dried fish. However, there are some problems faced by farmers' groups. The first problem is the limited availability of water to irrigate the pond. Contributing factor is the limited availability of water to irrigate their pool as a result having a lot of dead fish, there is even a farmer who can not do the fish farming until the rainy season comes because irrigation water was insufficient to irrigate their pool. The second problem is the high price of fish feed, the result are unoptimal fish growth and low production. The third problem is the problem of handling / processing after harvest. During this time, the fish is sold in fresh and is not accompanied processing activities, consequently the price of fish sold cheap, because if the fish was not immediately sold, those fish will rot. The fourth problem is the organization / group entrepreneurial for post-harvest processing of fish has not been there. Based on the problems faced, the purpose of this IbM activities are: 1) provide knowledge  transfer partners in  developing the cultivation of Siamese Snakeskin fish conjoined with a tarp, ranging from the spread of seeds, production management / maintenance, and harvesting, 2) provide knowledge transfer to farmers about how to manufacture Siamese Snakeskin fish feed, 3) increase the added value of fish production and farmers' income through diversification of products of Siamese Snakeskin fish into dried fresh and dried salted fish, 4) form an entrepreneurial group that has creativity and independent spirit. Methodology of Science and technology for the Community approach (IbM) will be delivered with extension and cultivation practices, feed manufacturing training, manufacture of dried fish training, and the formation of entrepreneurial  groups.  Results  of  IbM  activity  were  members  of  farmers  have  the knowledge and skills of fish farming intensively in pool tarp, feed manufacturing, increase the added value of the cultivation of fish, trigger creative spirit of farmers in creating refined products based food fish healthy and practical, as well as publications local and national scientific. Keywords: Siamese Snakeskin fish Farming, Post-Harvest Processing, IbM

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui pendidikan dan pelatihan. Tujuan utamanya adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada siswa tentang pengendalian sampah dengan metode 3R (reduce, reuse dan recycle) melalui pelatihan kepada siswa tentang berbagai kerajinan yang dapat dibuat dengan berbasis sampah. Pencapaian tujuan dilakukan melalui penyediaan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam hal pembuatan kerajinan berbasis sampah plastik. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan respon yang memuaskan dimana peserta memiliki antusias yang tinggi dalam peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang berbasis pengelolaan sampah dengan metode 3R. Produk yang dihasilkan adalah lampu hias dari sampah botol plastik bekas.  Hirarki pengelolaan sampah adalah pengendalian pada sumbernya, kurangi jumlah limbah, guna ulang limbah, daur ulang dan terakhir adalah pembuangan sampah ke empat pembuangan. Diharapkan kedepan peserta akan menerapkan prinsip pengelolaan sampah dengan metode 3R dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

The program aims to increase the community interest to local genetic wealth of Burgochicken. The long term goal of this training is to make the village Sumber Rejo as centersof production, marketing and research activities of Burgo chicken. The method used in thisservice activity is a demonstration plot. The group is the group members who have beenprovided the knowledge and skills regarding the operation of the hatching machine. In theaspect of feed, farmers are given knowledge about the type of food, kathuk leaf supplementand ration formulation and feed mixing practices. This method is applied to support theacceleration of population growth of Burgo chicken. Extension and practice of usinghatching machine, as well as kathuk leaf extract supplementation, also introduce to targetfarmer groups as a holistic effort in increasing Burgo chicken population. Theimplementation of this activity shows some facts that (1) Burgo chicken is relatively hardto find and can be sold at high prices. (2) During the culture treatment of feed that hasbeen tested in previous studies, the production of eggs produced relatively high at anaverage of 48 eggs per head per egg-laying period, with low egg weight at an average of35 grams per egg. (3) Power of hatching eggs based on observations is still in the goodrange at 41 %. (4) The DOC mortality rate reaches 50 %. Egg production data showsgood potential. It can be seen from the total eggs produced within three months of culture(48 eggs) from five Burgo hens. High mortality and unmaximally hatchability will beincreased along with the increasing skill in the culture farming and operation of thehatching machine.Key words: Burgo Chicken, Hatching, Katuk Leaf Extract, Revenue

Abstract

Sebagian besar guru di SD N 10 Pondok Kelapa, Bengkulu Tengah masih kesulitan mengatur keberhasilan pembelajaran, terutama pembelajaran matematika. Berdasarkan studi awal, ditemukan bahwa pembelajaran yang diselenggarakan oleh guru matematika di SD 10 Pondok Kelapa masih bersifat tradisional, yaitu metode ceramah. Guru jarang menggunakan strategi pembelajaran alternatif, khususnya dalam subjek operasi multiplikasi bilangan bulat. Meskipun banyak metode alternatif perkalian yang menyenangkan, seperti metode multiplikasi latis, jadi dalam kegiatan ini "Pelatihan metode beragam alternatif untuk guru di SD N 10 Pondok Kelapa" meliputi: Seminar, Demonstrasi, pertanyaan dan jawaban, diskusi, tugas terpandu , pemantauan dan penilaian. Para guru di SD N 10 Pondok kelapa awalnya tidak memiliki pengetahuan tentang metode multiplikasi latis dalam mata pelajaran matematika dasar (100 persen). Setelah lokakarya diadakan dan setelah kegiatan praktis menyelesaikan pertanyaan penggandaan ratusan dan ribuan angka asli selesai, para guru sudah memiliki pengetahuan yang baik dan pemahaman tentang metode multiplikasi latis, secara umum respons guru terhadap kegiatan ini sangat baik. (positif) dan pengetahuan serta keterampilan mereka tentang metode multiplikasi latis sebagai metode multiplikasi alternatif semakin meningkat.

Abstract

There is no simple or efficient technology to make local material-based feed such as Durio zibethinus Murr seed powder and mineral proteinates. Partners’ low comprehension in nutrition necessity of Talang Benih duck was in line with breeding purpose. Science and Technology Program for society is expected to provide understanding to both partners about hatching management, breeding management and ration composition containing durian seed powder and organic mineral. It is expected that by the end of program, selected Talang Benih ducks were obtained and feed containing durian seed powder was produced. Durian seeds are prevalent waste in Bengkulu province which has not been optimized as duck feed because of the partners’ limited knowledge. Durian seeds processing into durian seed powder undergoes steaming process for added-value of durian powder seed which is eventually used as feed for Talang Benih duck in place of yellow cornmeal. Utilization of durian seed powder in duck ration would cut down feed cost thereby increasing farmers’ income. Science and Technology Program (IbM) was running well observed from the high interest and zest of partner groups in extension and training programs as they asked questions during the extension and training. Talang Benih duck produced were utilizing feed made of durian seed powder. Both partners involved in this program understood and comprehended hatching management, Talang Benih Duck breeding management, durian seed powder making and management of ration composition utilizing durian seed powder. Keywords: Talang Benih duck, business development, conservation, durian seed powder

Abstract

Community service activities has a title “Guidance the Dangers of Drug for Teenager through Affective Education Approach”. The target of the community activities program are youth / high school students (SMA) 1 Talang Empat, Central Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province. Activities carried out in SMA-N 1 Central Bengkulu aims to encourage young people, in this case school students to stay away from the dangers of drugs. Counseling methods with affective educational approach is deemed appropriate to be used for this approach is not only limited to providing information about the dangers of drugs alone but students are also stimulated to think about the values of life of their own and make a conclusion about whether the benefits of drug abuse in life. Affective aspects of education aimed at developing the personality, maturation itself, increase the ability in decisions making, knowing how to cope with the mental stress effectively. Students have a tendency to not want to get involved in drug abuse. In addition caused enough understanding that drugs only bring harm health and spend a lot of money, students also tend to choose friends who have the same background (students). Keywords: drugs, affective education, youth
