Abstract

The focus of curriculum evaluation can be on the curriculum's outcomes (outcomes-based evaluation) and the components of the curriculum (intrinsic evaluation). The outcomes-based evaluation focuses on curriculum evaluation that is most often carried out. The purpose of this evaluation is that the evaluator can provide suggestions or input so that future extracurricular activities at MTsN 2 Kota Kediri can run better. This evaluation uses the CIPP evaluation model (Context, Input, Processes, and Product) in extracurricular activities in the KIR field at MTsN 2 Kota Kediri. Based on the evaluation results obtained data from (1) the context aspect, overall, very good with a total average of 91.67%. (2) The input aspect obtained an average of 90.60%. (3) The process aspect is outstanding, with a total average of 89.92%. (4) The product aspect is excellent, with an average of 91.65%. From the evaluation results, it can be stated that further improvements include the need for the establishment of a KIR organization, improving facilities and supporting facilities

Abstract

The background of the research in this study is based on the phenomenon of students’ difficulties in learning to write English narrative texts. To improve the writing of narrative texts, teachers need strategies or media so that students are happy and easy to write. Picture chain is one media that aims to improve students’ narrative text writing skills. The research uses Classroom Action Research. Classroom action research is a reflective study conducted by the teacher to get a solution until it can be solved. The research was carried out at SMP plus Mamba’ul Hisan for the 2021/2022 academic year. Data analysis shows significant differences in student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II, around 55,5%%, 64.5%, and in the second cycle, 74.75% for the second cycle. It shows that students’ achievement in writing narrative texts increases.

Abstract

This study aims to know the effect of Flipped learning strategy on students' vocabulary achievement at pesantren—pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design used to determine the dependent variable's accuracy. Sixty elementary students at Pesantren Mambaush Sholihin Gresik assessed a significant influence on vocabulary achievement. The finding shows that data using a paired-sample t-test was 12,817 at the considerable level of 0,05 and the degree of freedom 29. The flipped learning method was significant and affected improving students' vocabulary in primary school. The learning impact will be considerably decreased if the group's division of labour is ambiguous and students do not participate actively in the group. Because of this, future implementations of flipped classes should be revised.

Abstract

This research focuses on the effectiveness of using an indirect corrective feedback strategy on students’ writing skills of recount text to provide an alternative and effective way to complete their work in writing, especially in writing recount text. The researcher uses a quasi-experimental design by Collecting data using a test, and each class is given a pre-test before treatment and a post-test after treatment. It indicates that the treatment was successful. Independent T-test calculation researcher. T-test was calculated to compare the two means between the experimental and control groups. The table above shows that the value of sig (2-tailed) is 0.000 at the critical value for the 5% level. The significance value is less than 5% or (0.000 <0.05). So, the null hypothesis can be rejected. It can be concluded that the study’s indirect corrective feedback strategy is effective

Abstract

Communication strategy is a mutual attempt in the communication between two interlocutors to make a deal on an importance communication. We realize that both speaker and the listener are included; the responsibility of both speaker and listener is successful communication. This study aims to identify the types of communication strategies used by eighth grade students of Billfath English students. And this research tried to find out the most dominant communication strategies used by English language education students at Billfath University. The researcher used communication strategies from Tarone’s taxonomy to cultivate the data. This research is a qualitative descriptive. The researcher took 10 students as sample. The techniques used by the researcher to collect data are observation, interviews, and documentation analysis. The data was analyzed with communication strategy from Tarone’s taxonomy. The results of this study indicate that there are 5 types of communication strategies used by English students in order to deal with their difficulties in speaking. The researcher found 75 data of communication strategies used by the English students. The students used topic avoidance 8 data (10,6%),the use of paraphrase 6(8%),native language switching 19 data (25,3%), miming 29 data (38,8%) appeal for assistance 13 data (17,3%). And in this research, the English students did not use coinage and message abandonment. The most dominant strategy used by students is Miming 29 data (38.8%). Communication strategies were used by English students because they tried to overcome communication barriers when they were speaking.

Abstract

Research learning in madrasahs is a forum to encourage students' talents and interests in the field of scientific research. The concept of research madrasah is the development of madrasahs through learning innovations, namely the implementation of research, where students become young researchers in research exercises, with topics related to science in accordance with the subjects obtained. Prof. Mary Kellet explained that children who are involved in the research process are able to explore creativity and innovation by accessing rich resources with critical thinking skills, and analytical abilities. Prof. Pricilia Anderson explained working with children in research by understanding their views and experiences and providing rights opportunities for children and adults in the form of improving their knowledge and skills. Prof. Pia Christensen stated the importance of establishing a culture of communication between young researchers and adult researchers in understanding the world from their point of view.

Abstract

This research is aimed to developing supplementary english reading material based on scramble method for first grade of junior high school. Besides, it design supplementary reading materials based on scramble methods. Scramble-type cooperative learning Method is a teaching model by distributing question sheets and answer sheets accompanied by alternative answers that are available randomly. This study uses research and development method which focus on seven steps; need analysis, material development, expert validation, revision I, try-out, revision II, and final product. The result shows that the scramble materials were helpful for the students in comprehending the text because they were already familiar with Indonesian culture. The students learned more about Indonesian culture, making them more aware of their local culture and helping them learn reading

Abstract

This study aims to see how the Duolingo application affects students' vocabulary competence in the seventh grade in junior high school. Vocabulary is crucial for pupils to acquire since it helps them communicate. A quasi-experimental design was adopted, with 20 students as the experimental group and 20 as the control group. The result demonstrates that at the 5% significance level, to= 2.881 is greater than tta= 1.672. It suggests that utilizing the Duolingo program might improve pupils' vocabulary proficiency. Ho was refused but Ha was accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the student’s reading comprehension, especially detailed information, and the main idea through the herringbone technique. Herringbone is the technique to help students find important information and main ideas in the text by seeking to answer six comprehension questions on a diagram. The method uses CAR with observation, interview, and test. The data is analyzed by describing the observation checklist and using the mean score formula. There are two kinds of tests. Preliminary test and final test. Based on the results of the analysis data, the improvement in reading comprehension through the herringbone technique has improved well. In the first cycle, the average value increases by 14, which in the initial condition, 62 increases to 74 with a percentage of 63%. In the second cycle, the average value increased by 17, which in the initial condition, 74, increased to 79 with a percentage of 84%. Implications and empirical approaches to understanding reading comprehension with the teaching and learning process of reading comprehension. the technique that can improve students’ reading habits. It is also proposed that researchers also deepen by collecting students’ responses on the use of the Herringbone Technique in teaching reading to foster teachers in formulating better lesson plans in using this technique

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether teaching writing using project-based learning with canva media improved students' writing skills. The result expects to be useful for students to improve their English writing skills and help teachers to be more creative. This research uses pre-experimental in one class pretest and posttest, and the total sample was 25 students' from eight classes. The data were obtained from the writing test. The result shows that project-based learning with canva significantly increased students' writing after treatment. The mean score improved from 41.00 in the pretest to 64.00 in the posttest. The value of paired sample t-test was -12.283. The considerable value (sig. two-tailed) was 0.000, and the value was <0.05. It can be concluded that the study using project-based learning with canva media could enhance the student's writing skills in learning English for junior high school.
