Abstract

This study aims to determine the form of community participation in reducing the risk of waste pollution in Tanjung Baru Village, Morawa District. The problem of village waste is a critical issue because it can have negative impacts on health, the environment, and the quality of life of the community if not handled properly. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with observation, interviews, and documentation methods to explore community participation in maintaining environmental cleanliness. The results show that community participation is manifested in various forms, including household waste management, mutual cooperation activities to clean the environment, the utilization of organic waste into compost, and awareness of disposing of waste in the provided bins. Obstacles faced by the community include limited waste management facilities, lack of knowledge about the impacts of waste, and low awareness of some residents. Nevertheless, in general, the community shows a fairly good concern in efforts to reduce the risk of village waste pollution. Thus, the active role of the community is very important and needs to be increased through counseling, mentoring, and the provision of adequate waste management facilities to create a clean, healthy, and sustainable village environment.

Abstract

One of the national strategic goals is digital transformation, and 30 million MSMEs are expected to become digital by 2024. Nevertheless, Manado culinary MSMEs, especially those in the Flamboyan Street Food District, continue to experience a digital divide because consumer behaviour is becoming increasingly reliant on social media content, online reviews, and electronic money transfer systems. The proposed study will help develop a consumer-behaviour-based digital strategy model to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of culinary MSMEs. An explanatory mixed-methods research design was used to gather quantitative data (100 digital consumers) using PLS-SEM and qualitative data (in-depth interviews, FGDs, and direct observations of MSME actors). The results show that customer engagement strongly mediates the influence of digital strategy on competitiveness and that competitiveness is a strong personal contributor to business sustainability. The qualitative findings indicate that digital literacy, regular online promotion, and enabling infrastructure are essential to the adoption of digital technology. In general, this study has found that consumer-focused digital approaches can enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of MSMEs in the culinary industry in Manado. Practical recommendations include the establishment of digital marketing strengths, multi-stakeholder cooperation, and the adoption of context-related technologies in line with the local culture and groups.

Abstract

This study analyzes the mechanism of digital transformation of culture-based culinary MSMEs in Manado through a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. A total of 100 MSMEs under the guidance of the Manado IKM Center were respondents in the quantitative analysis using PLS-SEM, which showed that Digital Marketing Strategy and Digital Marketing Performance are the main determinants of business sustainability. Technology acceptance and cultural product characteristics have a significant effect on digital marketing strategy, while Digital Readiness and Cultural Creativity Process do not show a direct effect. Qualitative analysis using NVivo reinforced these findings by revealing the strategic role of training, mentoring, and cultural narratives in shaping digital capabilities. Overall, this study confirms that the success of MSME digital transformation is the result of synergy between internal capabilities, cultural values, and institutional support from the Manado IKM Center, which together facilitate the strengthening of digital marketing performance and business sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze assessment practices, challenges, inhibiting factors, and strategies to improve learning evaluation in elementary schools. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review. Through this method, researchers collect, review, and analyze various written sources relevant to the topic of assessment and evaluation of learning in elementary schools. The primary sources of data for this study come from books, scientific journals, articles, and educational policy documents published between 2012 and 2025, both from national and international publications. Data in this study were collected through online searches, utilizing various databases such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, ScienceDirect, Semantic Scholar, and the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), among other sources. The data analysis technique in this study was carried out using thematic analysis. Research findings indicate that assessment practices in elementary schools are currently in a transition phase from a conventional paradigm to an authentic, student-centered approach. Through the proportional implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments, teachers can obtain a comprehensive picture of students' abilities, needs, and development. However, the effectiveness of assessment implementation in the field still faces various challenges, including teacher competency, limited infrastructure, administrative burdens, and a learning paradigm that is still oriented towards final results. Strategies to improve the effectiveness of assessment and evaluation can be implemented by teachers by understanding the types of assessments and selecting techniques and instruments that are appropriate to student characteristics and learning objectives.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of language as a means of conveying messages and emotional expression in social interactions, including through film media. Pragmatic studies, especially expressive speech acts, play a role in understanding the speaker's psychological attitudes reflected in speech. The film If Mother Is Not Married to Dad by Kuntz Agus was chosen because it contains emotional dynamics and family conflicts that reflect the intense use of expressive speech. This research aims to identify, analyze, and interpret the forms of expressive speech that appear in film dialogue. The research uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method. Data in the form of expressive speech obtained through documentation, listening, and recording techniques to all 119-minute film dialogues. Data analysis was carried out through reduction, categorization, presentation, and conclusion drawing using the classification of expressive speech acts according to Searle.The results showed that there were 48 data on expressive speech actions divided into 7 types of functions, with the dominance of expressing disappointment/regret as many as 15 speeches (31.25%) and affection/love as many as 10 speeches (20.83%). This expressive dominance reflects the film's main themes of inner conflict, emotional tension, and family sacrifice. These findings confirm that film serves as a powerful medium of psychological and social representation through language expression. This research provides novelty in the form of mapping the function of expressive speech in contemporary Indonesian film works as a source of pragmatic data and a theoretical contribution to the development of speech action studies in the audiovisual realm. The results of the research are expected to be a reference for pragmatic learning and a foothold for further research on speech actions in the family drama film genre.

Abstract

Background: Overweight and obesity among adolescents have become a growing public health issue in Indonesia, contributing to the risk of non-communicable diseases in adulthood. Risky dietary behaviors and low physical activity levels are suspected to play a role in the increasing prevalence of obesity in the adolescent age group. Objective: This study aims to identify the risk factors associated with overweight and obesity in adolescents aged 11–18 years in Central Java Province. Methods: This study employs a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach, utilizing secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). The study subjects were 4,439 adolescents aged 11–18 years who met the inclusion criteria. Nutritional status was determined based on the Body Mass Index for Age (BMI/A). Data analysis included univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using chi-square tests, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. Results: In the multivariate analysis, the consumption of soft drinks ≥1 time per day was identified as an independent determinant that increases the risk of overweight and obesity (aOR = 3.742; 95% CI: 1.440–9.723). Instant noodle consumption was found to be associated with overweight and obesity at certain levels of consumption. Educational level, consumption of sweet foods, sweet beverages, and fatty foods were associated in the bivariate analysis, but were not significant after controlling for other variables. Conclusion: Daily soft drink consumption is a major risk factor for overweight and obesity among adolescents in Central Java. Prevention of adolescent obesity requires a comprehensive approach, including improvements in dietary patterns, increased physical activity, as well as family support and public policy interventions.

Abstract

This research investigates the integration of Tarbawi Hadith in the development of intellect (ʿaql), heart (qalb), and soul (nafs) among elementary students at SD Al-Falah Boarding School. The study adopts a qualitative case study approach, utilizing classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, and document analysis to explore how Tarbawi Hadith is embedded within the school’s educational practices. The findings reveal that the systematic inclusion of selected prophetic traditions into the curriculum not only enhances students’ cognitive abilities but also nurtures their emotional intelligence and spiritual awareness. Teachers employ various strategies, such as reflective discussions, storytelling, and value-based activities, to internalize the messages of the Hadith and encourage students to apply them in daily life. The integration process is supported by a school culture that emphasizes character building, discipline, and a strong sense of community. As a result, students demonstrate improved moral reasoning, empathy, self-control, and a deeper understanding of Islamic values. The study highlights the pivotal role of Tarbawi Hadith as a source of holistic education, fostering balanced development across intellectual, emotional, and spiritual domains. It also identifies challenges, such as the need for ongoing teacher training and curriculum development, to ensure the effective implementation of integrative approaches. Abstract

The development of communication technology has significantly transformed adolescents’ patterns of social interaction, one of which is reflected in the phenomenon of phubbing, namely the tendency to ignore interlocutors due to excessive focus on smartphones. This study aims to analyze the forms of phubbing behavior and its impact on the quality of social interactions among adolescents in Gang Karang Rejo, Medan City. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a purposive sampling technique involving five adolescents aged 14–18 years as the main informants, with parents serving as supporting informants. The data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participatory observation, and documentation, and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, followed by verification using source and method triangulation. The results indicate that phubbing has become a normalized daily habit among adolescents, characterized by frequent smartphone use during interactions, repetitive checking of notifications, feelings of anxiety when separated from the device, and decreased focus during face-to-face communication. This behavior negatively affects the quality of social interactions, as seen in reduced empathy, weakened emotional closeness with family members, and the loss of togetherness during social encounters. The discussion highlights that phubbing is no longer an individual behavior but has developed into a broader social phenomenon that shapes the relational dynamics of adolescents within their families and communities, suggesting the need for educational strategies, parental guidance, and controlled smartphone use to maintain a balanced integration of digital and face-to-face interactions.

Abstract

The topic of coexistence and integration between Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in rural areas is highly relevant in the Indonesian social context. These two largest Islamic organizations play an important role as pillars of social harmony, especially in areas vulnerable to social change due to modernization and globalization. This study aims to analyze the social dynamics between Muhammadiyah and NU in rural areas, focusing on coexistence and integration as efforts to strengthen community solidarity. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of relevant documents. Data triangulation is used to validate the findings. The results show that coexistence between Muhammadiyah and NU is achieved through collaboration in social activities such as education and health, despite the challenges posed by ideological differences. The contribution of this study is to provide a practical model for building harmony among groups in rural areas, applicable to social policy. This study concludes that this coexistence has positive implications for Indonesia's social stability and suggests that further research using quantitative surveys is needed to measure the long-term impact of this integration.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of family financial literacy on financial behavior, both directly and indirectly through financial knowledge as a mediating variable, among Grade 12 students at SMAN 1 Jogonalan, Klaten Regency. The research employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and involved respondents representing individuals who experienced financial socialization within their family environment. The results reveal that family financial literacy has a significant direct effect on financial behavior, with a path coefficient of 0.292 and a p-value of 0.000. The 95% confidence interval (0.154–0.462) and the effect size (f² = 0.178) indicate a moderate influence. Furthermore, family financial literacy significantly affects financial knowledge, evidenced by a path coefficient of 0.556 and a p-value of 0.000, with an effect size of 0.447 categorized as moderate. Financial knowledge also shows a strong and significant effect on financial behavior, with a path coefficient of 0.619, a p-value of 0.000, an effect size of 0.881, and a 95% confidence interval (0.461–0.722). Additionally, financial knowledge significantly mediates the relationship between family financial literacy and financial behavior, as indicated by an indirect effect of 0.334 and a p-value of 0.000. These findings highlight the essential role of family-based financial literacy in improving individuals’ financial knowledge and financial behavior. The study contributes to the theoretical development of financial literacy literature and offers practical implications for families, educational institutions, and policymakers in strengthening family-centered financial education programs.
