Abstract

In Indonesia, stunting continues to be a problem for public health, even in Pasuruan City. In Pasuruan City, 1,516 kids still run the risk of developing stunting. The Pasuruan City Government works to keep the rate of stunting under 14%. To reduce the likelihood that children with stunting will be born, pregnant mothers are the main focus of prevention efforts. Inflammatory diseases in the mouth can set off pregnancy complications that have the potential to result in preterm birth, low birth weight babies (LBW), and eventually become the cause of stunting in children. This community service is carried out in the form of training and counseling on periodontal tissue and oral health for pregnant women and health cadres at the Pasuruan City Health Center to increase knowledge of stunting prevention in Pasuruan City. Community service was carried out at four health centers in Pasuruan City, namely the Kandangsapi, Bugul Kidul, Kebonsari, and Trajeng Health Centers. The target partners in community service are health cadres and pregnant women in the work area of each health center. The form of service carried out is counseling and training. Education initiatives were conducted on the subject of periodontal tissue health, its relationship to pregnancy, the prevalence of LBW, and the possibility of stunting effects on the periodontal tissue health of pregnant women. The cognitive and psychomotor health of cadres and pregnant women can be improved by community service in the form of counseling and training.

Different test results obtained p value = 0.352 this value is above 0.05 so that the difference test of attitude before and after training is not different meaningful. However, it does not mean that the training process can be considered unsuccessful in improving the attitude of all participants, because the average attitudes value is still high, more than 4. This is presumably still good attitude retention from Basic Life Support training which has been given in the same population a year ago (December 26, 2016).

Abstract

Mastitis is an inflammation of the udder that often affects dairy cows in the production phase. The impact of mastitis losses is quite large, including a drastic decrease in milk quantity and quality. Mastitis can be caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria in dairy cows, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus spp or Streptococcus spp. The results of a recent study stated that the prevalence of mastitis in Indonesia reached 83%. The Coliform Mastitis Test (CMT), used worldwide for early detection of mastitis, has a specificity of 80.6% and a sensitivity of 82.4%. Semen Village Unit Cooperative (KUD) is a cooperative that is the center of milk production in Blitar District, which accommodates the milk of dairy cows from smallholder farms in Blitar District. The high incidence of mastitis caused by the presence of bacteria resistant to antibiotics encourages counseling on mastitis and identifying bacteria that cause antibiotic resistance. Extension activities are carried out by presenting material about mastitis caused by the presence of bacteria resistant to antibiotics with lecture techniques (PowerPoint slides), videos, questions, and answers, and demonstrating the California Mastitis Test on milk samples as an early detection test, as well as identifying bacteria that cause antibiotic resistance. This series of counseling activities is an effort to reduce the incidence of mastitis through increased knowledge and understanding of the community.

Abstract

The stunting prevalence rate in Indonesia in 2022 is still 21.6%, especially in East Java, the stunting prevalence rate still reaches 19.2%. The Surabaya City Government has a target to declare zero stunting by 2023 through the 1000 HPK Movement. One thousand HPK is the period from conception to the age of 24 months which is an important period to improve children's health because if at this time there is a developmental and functional delay in children, it cannot be changed or only partially reversible. Children are stunted if their height for their age is more than two standard deviations below the median WHO child growth standard. Community service activities in the form of education for the 1000 HPK Movement will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Balai RW 02 Manukan Kulon Village. Community service activities are carried out in the form of nutrition counseling and interactive dialogue between resource persons and participants. The educational activity was attended by pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and mothers who have children less than 2 years old with a total of 35 participants. The results of Wilcoxon's test on the Pre-test and post-test filled by participants showed that there was an increase in the knowledge of education participants about the 1000 HPK Movement. This activity is expected to be a provision for participants in preparing healthy children and avoiding stunting.
