Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed the dynamics of the retail and wholesale sectors, including how businesses promote products and interact with consumers. This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital marketing communications at Dapur Pintar Wholesale Store and its impact on increasing sales. The study used descriptive qualitative methods through in-depth interviews with store owners and regular customers, as well as direct observation of marketing activities via WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. The results show that Dapur Pintar implements promotional messages that focus on affordable prices, product quality, and visual content to attract consumer attention. WhatsApp is the most effective channel for driving conversions due to its personalized communication and rapid response. Instagram and Facebook serve as digital catalogs that strengthen awareness and purchase intention, while TikTok plays a significant role in expanding reach through viral content. However, several challenges were identified, such as inconsistent admin responses, suboptimal visual quality, price comparisons between stores, and complex inventory management. Overall, the digital marketing communications strategy contributed significantly to Dapur Pintar's sales growth.

Abstract

This study examines the ethics of communication on social media through the perspective of hadith as a response to crucial issues in contemporary discourse. The main goal is to identify and analyze the ethical principles of digital communication based on the guidance of the Prophet PBUH. The method used is qualitative based on library research with a thematic analysis approach (maudhu'i), which includes sanad criticism, matan criticism, and hermeneutic analysis of related hadiths. The results of the study formulated four main principles in communicating in cyberspace. First, the message delivery must be positive by prioritizing good words and avoiding unhelpful content. Second, honesty in communication is the main foundation to prevent the spread of hoaxes that often trigger social conflicts. Third, it is important to consider the impact of each message to be delivered (the aspect of maslahat), considering that every speech has moral and spiritual consequences. Fourth, it is necessary to avoid messages that contain insults, hatred, and sheep fighting, which are in harmony with the hadith commands to protect the mouth and heart from envy and envy. This study concludes that the ethical values in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH remain very relevant as a universal moral guideline for social media users to create a healthy, harmonious, and responsible digital environment.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the integration of MUI Fatwa No. 24 of 2017 in efforts to educate the public regarding hate speech on social media. Hate speech has become a serious problem that has a negative impact on social cohesion and the stability of society. The MUI fatwa, which emphasizes the importance of maintaining unity and avoiding division, provides a normative basis for dealing with this issue. This research analyzes the content and purpose of the fatwa, as well as the role of social media as a platform for disseminating information and potential hate speech. Through a qualitative approach, this study identifies effective public education strategies, including awareness campaigns and collaboration between the MUI, government and civil society. Apart from that, this research also examines the challenges faced in implementing fatwas and provides recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of education regarding hate speech. It is hoped that the results of this research can make a significant contribution to efforts to handle hate speech and strengthen the values of tolerance in society.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the role of effective communication in increasing public trust in the National Police based on Habermas' communication theory. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a library research approach, which analyzes relevant literature, such as books, academic journals and research reports. The main data sources come from various references related to effective communication, Habermas' theory, and its application in the context of the National Police. The research results show that communication based on the principles of Habermas's theory, especially regarding transparency, dialogue and equality, can improve the image of the National Police in the eyes of the public. Programs such as dialogical patrols and conveying information through various media have increased public participation in discussing security issues and Polri policies. These findings indicate that responsive and humanistic two-way communication can strengthen relations between the National Police and the community, as well as build public trust in the police institution.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of vertical organizational communication between leaders and employees in building job satisfaction in the Spare Parts Division of PT Astra Motor Main Dealer, Bengkulu City. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method and purposive sampling technique, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of vertical communication between leaders and employees in the Spare Parts Division of PT Astra Motor Main Dealer, Bengkulu City has been running quite well but still faces several obstacles. Vertical communication is carried out in two directions, namely communication from leaders to subordinates (downward communication) and from subordinates to leaders (upward communication). When communication is carried out openly, clearly, and two-way, employees feel more appreciated, better understand the tasks assigned, and are more motivated to contribute to achieving company goals. However, there are still obstacles that hinder the effectiveness of communication, such as delays in information, lack of feedback from superiors, and miscommunication that arises due to differences in perception between leaders and subordinates. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve the quality of communication through openness, timely delivery of messages, and strengthening two-way communication channels so that vertical communication can function optimally in building employee job satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of the Sengkure Ceremony, an annual tradition of the Nasal tribe in Kaur Regency, Bengkulu, which is rich in symbolic meaning and social value. This study uses Herbert Blumer's symbolic interaction theory. The method used is qualitative with a case study design, through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that Blumer's three premises of action are based on meaning. The first premise is that meaning arises from social interaction, with symbols such as ijuk costumes, pandan masks, the Eid al-Fitr holiday, and the journey to the Nasal River representing spiritual transformation and self-purification. The second premise is that a process of interaction occurs in which symbols and beliefs come together in an event. The third premise is that these meanings are passed down through folklore and cross-generational social practices, and adapted in a modern context through cultural festivals and digital media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of socio-demographic characteristics on self-representation among Generation Z on the social media platform Instagram in Bengkulu City. The socio-demographic characteristics examined include age, gender, and family background. The research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 240 respondents from Generation Z residing in Bengkulu City, with an explanatory research design. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine the relationships between variables. The results indicate that socio-demographic characteristics including age, gender, and family background have a positive and significant influence on the self-representation of Generation Z on Instagram. These findings suggest that self-representation on social media is not a neutral act but is shaped by individuals’ social backgrounds, which influence how they construct and interpret their digital identities. This research provides theoretical contributions to the field of communication and new media studies, as well as practical implications for developing digital communication strategies tailored to the characteristics of younger generations. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of understanding social dynamics in shaping patterns of interaction and self-representation in the digital era. For future research, it is recommended to expand the variables by incorporating psychosocial factors such as the need for validation, social anxiety, or perceptions of digital aesthetics. Future studies may also explore other social media platforms or generational groups to gain a broader understanding of self-representation dynamics in the digital culture context.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of women in the context of digital da'wah, which has increasingly developed alongside advancements in information technology. The research focuses on three main aspects: (1) the concept of digital da'wah, (2) the role of women in digital da'wah, and (3) the opportunities and challenges faced by women in conducting da'wah through digital platforms. Using a qualitative approach and literature study, the research finds that digital da'wah is a form of religious communication that utilizes digital media—such as social media and other online platforms—to reach a broader and more diverse audience. In this context, women play a significant role, not only as content consumers (objects of da'wah) but also as producers and disseminators of religious messages (subjects of da'wah). They use digital platforms to convey religious messages, initiate discussions, and build communities centered around religious values. However, this role is not without challenges, including social stigma, limited access to technology, and pressure from cultural norms that continue to marginalize women. On the other hand, digital da'wah presents significant opportunities for women to actively participate in spreading religious values, building networks, and expanding their influence in the public sphere. This study concludes that digital da'wah opens new spaces for women to play a more active role in religious activities, although various challenges must still be addressed.

Abstract

Communication, as a broad and multidimensional field of study in the social sciences, encompasses a variety of theories and approaches, one of which is relational dialectical theory. This theory, derived from the thought of Mikhail Bakhtin, views life as a dialogical arena where individuals constantly interact with conflicting desires and needs in the context of their relationships. Leslie Baxter, one of the key figures in the development of this theory, emphasises that relationships are dynamic and require ongoing attention to achieve success and satisfaction. Relational dialectic theory provides a comprehensive framework for understanding the complexity of relationships, recognising that each individual experiences and navigates tensions in relationships in unique ways. Therefore, communication plays a crucial role in managing and balancing the various tensions and contradictions that arise in human interactions. Relational dialectic theory can be defined as ‘the nexus of contradictions in personal relationships or the continual interaction between opposites or tendencies to oppose’. In the context of scientific research, this theory provides a powerful analytical framework for understanding the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. By recognising the inherent tensions in relationships, researchers can identify and explore the various factors that influence communication and satisfaction in relationships. This approach not only helps in understanding the basic mechanisms of relationships, but also provides insights into how individuals can manage contradictions and tensions to achieve more harmonious and satisfying relationships. In research, relational dialectics theory can be used to analyse how individuals balance the need for autonomy and attachment in relationships, how they manage the tension between openness and privacy, and how they handle the contradiction between stability and change. By understanding these dynamics, researchers can develop more effective communication strategies to improve the quality of interpersonal relationships. Therefore, relational dialectics theory provides not only a comprehensive theoretical framework, but also practical tools for managing the complexity of human relationships.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of persuasive leadership communication on improving student achievement in higher education. Based on the hypothesis regarding the effect of persuasive leadership communication on student achievement, the F-test results indicate that the regression model is statistically significant simultaneously, with an F value of 49.901 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Partially, the t-test results show that openness (t = 2.516; p = 0.013), support (t = 2.908; p = 0.004), positive attitude (t = 3.926; p = 0.000), and equality (t = 2.254; p = 0.026) have a significant influence on student achievement. In contrast, empathy does not have a statistically significant effect (t = 1.690; p = 0.093). The most dominant dimension is a positive attitude, with the highest beta coefficient (? = 0.259).This research employed a quantitative method involving 150 students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu, using a Likert-scale-based questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression via SPSS. The findings highlight the importance of leadership communication strategies that are open, supportive, positive, and egalitarian in building an academic environment that fosters and motivates student achievement. This study contributes both theoretically and practically to the development of leadership communication in higher education institutions.
