Abstract

This study investigates the classroom management strategies of an English teacher at a private Islamic Junior High School in Sidoarjo, focusing on time and space management, student behavior, and instructional strategies. The research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies in creating a conducive learning environment. Observations were conducted during two meetings on May 28 and 29, 2024, using an observation checklist based on McLeod, Fisher, and Hoover's classroom management theory. Additionally, an interview with the teacher provided further insights. The results revealed that the teacher effectively managed classroom time and space, scoring 50% in both sessions. However, student behavior management could have been more effective, with scores of 45% and 50% in the respective meetings. Instructional strategies were also limited, with scores of 40% in both meetings. The study highlights a well-organized classroom environment but points to areas for improvement, including enhancing behavior management techniques and incorporating diverse instructional strategies. The implications suggest a need for more dynamic and responsive approaches to classroom management, including integrating technology and fostering personal connections with students to improve engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an e-module flipbook as a learning media that directs active students in using technology in the learning process. The research method used is R&D (Research and Development) with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data collection is carried out by the steps in the development research process from the data that the researcher has obtained, followed by the process of analyzing the research results that have been obtained. The results showed that the E-module Flipbook Science Style Material was said to be valid and able to encourage students' independent learning interest in learning activities, it can be seen from the media expert scoring 95% "Very Valid" validation from material experts with a score of 87.50% "Very valid" and linguist validator score percentage 94% "Very valid". The development of e-modules made by researchers also increased students' independent learning interest from the results of small group trials on seven fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Pucangan, which obtained a percentage score of 85.71%, and large group trials on 14 fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Karanganom obtained a percentage score of 85.96% with the category "very valid".

Abstract

Most students consider mathematics a complex subject. Many students complete assignments and tests and receive low scores. This is often due to the monotonous nature of mathematics Learning, which makes students bored and uninterested. This study aims to develop a Learning media based on pop-up books that are both valid and feasible, with an attractive design that can be used in the Learning process and address student challenges. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data collection techniques include media, material, and language validation questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The results indicate that the pop-up book Learning Media is highly valid and features a perfect design, as evidenced by the validation results: media at 88%, material at 86%, and language at 91.5%, all within the valid/feasible category. Product trials were conducted in two stages: a small group trial at SDN 4 Ngentrong (with five students) yielded an 89% rating, and a large group trial at SDN I Wajak Lor (with 23 students) yielded an  88.2% rating both within the outstanding category. Thus, the development of the pop-up book-based Learning media is highly valid and suitable for use as a Learning tool for three-dimensional shapes in fifth-grade elementary school, and it features an attractive and perfect design.

Abstract

The literacy movement and increasing interest in reading among students are essential educational challenges because literacy has a role in practice and social relations related to knowledge, Language, and culture. However, the problem of low literacy for Indonesian students still needs to be found. This study investigates the literacy movement in increasing the reading interest of students in elementary schools. The participants of this study are the students and the teachers at SDI PB Soedirman. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive, namely, conducting direct observations and interviews with several selected students and teachers. The study results show that library visits, watching educational films, and holding literacy competitions have increased students' interest in reading, especially in grade IV. This activity can increase students' interest in reading and train students' courage in writing stories, speaking in public, or channelling their ideas. Thus, the literacy movement at SDI PB Soedirman should continuously be supported by adequate facilities and support from teachers so that the literacy movement can be channelled appropriately to students.

Abstract

Humans need to continue to innovate and develop by the progress of the times. Therefore, education is an essential pillar for producing the next generation, which will face challenges in the era of the Industrial Revolution. Their critical thinking skills, creativity, and self-development are very important to protect students from fierce competition. Therefore, the learning model is essential in forming students to produce a reliable generation. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) is the right choice for students to train in creativity. This study aims to determine the creativity abilities of students at Homeschooling Pena Surabaya. The method used is experimental quantitative with 18 students as samples (total sampling)—data collection techniques through questionnaires, documentation, and observation. The statistical results state that a significant influence between STEAM-based Project Based Learning (PBL) learning on creativity, known from the calculated r, is greater than the table r (10.096˃2.131). The maximum post-test score is 100 for one person and is included in the "Very High" category. The maximum post-test score is 70 for four people. The average post-test result is 81.67 and is included in the "Very High" category.

Abstract

In-house training (IHT) programs effectively address educational challenges in schools through a thorough needs analysis. While IHT programs are frequently conducted, the primary focus should be on enhancing the quality of training to meet the specific needs of institutions, roles, and individuals involved. At SDN 98, a notable issue is the low utilization of technology in the learning process despite adequate multimedia facilities. Among 17 classroom teachers, fewer than 25% are proficient in using computers for instruction, and only one or two teachers regularly use laptops. The use of LCD projectors is also rare. This situation highlights the urgent need to improve teachers' information and communication technology (ICT) skills. Consequently, this Study aims to enhance the ICT competencies of SDN 98 teachers through targeted training and the development of IHT modules. The research employs a research and development (R&D) method that includes eight stages: initial research, planning, product design, validation, revision, limited trials, and field trials. The developed IHT module received excellent evaluations, with an average score of 4.49 from respondents and 4.56 from instructors, indicating its practicality and effectiveness in enhancing teachers' ICT competencies.
