Abstract

The Duwa Gappii (Stone Cooking) tradition of the Mee Tribe in Paniai Regency, Central Papua, is a cultural heritage that embodies significant social, cultural, and educational values. This tradition is not merely a traditional cooking method but also a symbol of unity, togetherness, mutual cooperation, gratitude, and respect for customs that have been passed down from generation to generation. During the process, stones are heated to a high temperature and then arranged in layers with leaves, tubers, vegetables, and meat until the food is cooked through heat transfer. This practice demonstrates the application of fundamental physics concepts, particularly heat transfer through conduction, convection, and radiation. Integrating the Duwa Gappii tradition into science (physics) education at the elementary school level provides students with opportunities to learn scientific concepts through experiences closely connected to their daily lives and cultural background. Learning based on local wisdom makes science instruction more contextual, engaging, and meaningful, thereby improving students' conceptual understanding while fostering pride in their cultural heritage. Furthermore, students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills, observe scientific phenomena, and connect theoretical knowledge with real-life practices. The findings indicate that the Duwa Gappii tradition reflects strong values of mutual cooperation, teamwork, responsibility, diligence, social solidarity, and spirituality, expressed through prayers and acts of gratitude before the ceremony begins. The tradition also serves as a medium for transmitting cultural values to younger generations and strengthening the cultural identity of the Mee Tribe. Therefore, Duwa Gappii has considerable potential as a learning resource that integrates science, culture, and character education. Its implementation in modern education supports contextual learning while contributing to the preservation of local cultural heritage and the development of students' scientific literacy in the twenty-first century.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an essential twenty-first century competency that should be fostered through mathematics learning in elementary schools. However, field practice revealed that mathematics instruction remains predominantly procedural, while the existing student worksheets Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) have not adequately facilitated meaningful learning, critical thinking, or the integration of Deep Learning and Growth Mindset principles. This study aimed to analyze the need for developing mathematics worksheets based on Deep Learning and Growth Mindset to enhance fifth-grade elementary students' critical thinking skills. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a needs analysis design. The research was conducted at Advent Mision Elementary School, Batam, involving 15 fifth-grade students (7 boys and 8 girls) and two fifth-grade teachers. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the existing worksheets mainly emphasize procedural exercises, have not integrated Deep Learning and Growth Mindset principles, and have not optimally promoted students' critical thinking skills. Teachers also identified the need for worksheets that incorporate contextual, reflective, collaborative, and problem-solving activities to actively engage students in meaningful learning. These findings provide empirical and conceptual foundations for the subsequent development of mathematics worksheets based on Deep Learning and Growth Mindset.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of character education in fostering learning discipline among fourth-grade students at SDN 001 Tambusai, Rokan Hulu Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants consisted of the principal, fourth-grade teachers, and students. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while data validity was ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of learning discipline character education has been carried out effectively through classroom learning activities, habituation, role modeling, and positive reinforcement provided by teachers and the school. Students generally demonstrated disciplined behavior by attending school on time, paying attention during lessons, completing assignments, complying with school regulations, managing their learning activities at home, and preparing learning materials before attending school. Teachers played a strategic role as role models, facilitators, motivators, and supervisors in cultivating students' disciplinary values. Although several students still required continuous guidance and parental support, the implementation of character education contributed positively to improving students' responsibility, independence, compliance with school rules, and overall learning discipline. These findings highlight the importance of collaboration between schools and families in strengthening students' character development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between natural resource economics and forest carbon flux in supporting sustainable forest management through a qualitative approach using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Forests play a crucial role not only as an economic resource but also as an ecosystem capable of absorbing and storing carbon from the atmosphere. Increasing deforestation, land conversion, and overexploitation of forest resources have led to environmental damage and increased carbon emissions. This study analyzed various national and international scientific publications published between 2016 and 2025 related to forest carbon flux, environmental economics, and sustainable forest management. The results show that sustainable forest management positively contributes to carbon emission reduction, ecosystem conservation, and long-term economic sustainability. In addition, the application of environmental economic instruments such as carbon trading, forest rehabilitation, and payments for environmental services can support climate change mitigation and increase community participation in forest conservation. This study concludes that the integration of economic and environmental aspects is an important factor in realizing sustainable forest governance and development oriented towards environmental sustainability

Abstract

This study was motivated by a researcher's interest in an after-school religious education institution for primary school students. It aims to examine the strategies employed by the institution, particularly regarding the recruitment of new students. Given the crucial role of public relations in such activities, the study seeks to gain deep insight into Public Relations management within this context. A qualitative, descriptive research approach was adopted, involving in-depth interviews with key informants—including the school principal, the committee chairperson, and the foundation chairperson—as well as direct observation of these individuals. The objective was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the institution—which has seen steady growth in student enrollment over the years—and to analyze how the public relations function bridges internal operations with the wider community to foster effective collaboration.

Abstract

The impact of picture story learning media based on Sundanese culture on improving narrative writing skills of elementary school students in Purwakarta ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the impact of using Sundanese culture-based picture story learning media on improving elementary school students' narrative writing skills. This research was motivated by students' difficulties in developing ideas, organizing story sequences, and expressing thoughts into coherent narrative texts. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research was conducted at SDN 3 Panyindangan, Sukatani District, Purwakarta Regency, involving 50 fourth-grade students consisting of an experimental class and a control class, with 25 students in each class. The research instruments were narrative writing skill tests in the form of pretests and posttests, supported by documentation. The data were analyzed using statistical tests, including prerequisite tests, hypothesis testing, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the use of Sundanese culture-based picture story learning media had a significant impact on improving students' narrative writing skills. This was evidenced by the hypothesis test result with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and the higher N-Gain score obtained by the experimental class compared to the control class. Therefore, Sundanese culture-based picture story learning media is effective as an alternative medium for Indonesian language learning to improve elementary school students' narrative writing skills.

Abstract

Learning to read, write, and count (calistung) in kindergarten remains a topic that raises various perceptions among parents. Parents' education level is presumed to be one of the factors influencing this perception. This study aimed to determine the relationship between parents' education level and their perception of calistung learning in kindergartens in North Padang Subdistrict, Padang City. This quantitative correlational study involved 90 parents selected through cluster random sampling from a population of 866 parents across 24 kindergartens. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Because the data on parents' perception were not normally distributed (Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), hypothesis testing was conducted using Spearman Rank correlation. The results showed a correlation coefficient of 0.075 with a significance value of 0.480 (p > 0.05), indicating a positive but very weak and statistically non-significant relationship between parents' education level and their perception of calistung learning. Therefore, the research hypothesis was rejected. Additional descriptive findings showed that parents' positive attitudes and participation in school activities were consistently high across all education levels. These findings suggest that parents' perception of calistung learning is shaped more by attitude and engagement than by formal education level alone.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation and analyze the impact of the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children program on the formation of students’ disciplinary character in the context of contemporary education at SDN Jatiwarno 03, Karanganyar Regency. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques of direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of the school principal, a fourth-grade teacher, and six fourth-grade students. The results show that the program was implemented through structured daily habituation, the use of a Daily Habit Journal, teacher role-modeling, and scheduled activities such as Healthy Friday and orderly queuing in the Free Nutritious Meal program. The impact identified was multidimensional, including increased student independence in daily routines, a shift in discipline motivation from extrinsic to intrinsic, the extension of habits from school to home, and the emergence of collective self-regulation among students, with the main challenge coming from gadget influence and uneven parental support at home. It is concluded that the program has become a strong starting point in shifting students’ disciplinary character from supervision-based compliance toward more autonomous awareness.

Abstract

The Kamis Wage Market tradition in Penggarit Village, Pemalang Regency, is a form of local cultural preservation that still survives amid modernization. This study aims to describe language interaction, language variation, and the social function of language in buying and selling activities at Kamis Wage Market. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with an interactional sociolinguistic approach. Data were obtained through observation, documentation, interviews, and merchant-buyer conversation transcripts. Data analysis was conducted using Dell Hymes’ ethnography of communication theory and Chaer and Agustina’s language variation theory. The results show that Javanese krama and ngoko dominate social interactions in the market. In addition, code-switching and code-mixing phenomena between Javanese and Indonesian were found. Local terms such as klitik function as symbols of Penggarit community cultural identity. Language functions not only as a communication tool but also as a means of cultural preservation, social solidarity, and local identity formation. The Kamis Wage Market tradition demonstrates that language practices play an important role in maintaining local culture amid globalization.
