Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of implementing the reward and punishment method on the numeracy skills of third-grade students at UPT SPF SDN 104205 Tembung in the 2025/2026 academic year. The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 21 third-grade students. The research instrument was a numeracy skills test that had met the validity and reliability requirements. Data were analyzed using the normality test and the paired-samples t-test. The findings showed that the mean pretest score increased from 59.43 to 78.86 in the posttest, representing an improvement of 19.43 points. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, while the hypothesis test produced a t-value of 13.535 with a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected. These findings demonstrate that the implementation of the reward and punishment method has a significant effect on students' numeracy skills. The method not only improves numeracy achievement but also enhances students' motivation, participation, and discipline during the learning process. Therefore, the reward and punishment method can be considered an effective instructional strategy for improving elementary school students' numeracy skills.

Abstract

This research analyzes commissive speech acts used by Jo March in the film Little Women (2019). The purpose of this research is to describe the types and functions of commissive speech acts found in Jo March's dialogues. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a pragmatic approach, drawing on speech act theory proposed by Austin (1962), Searle (1969, 1979), and Yule (1996, 2010), and supported by contextual analysis. The data were taken from Jo March's dialogues in Little Women (2019), and five selected dialogues were used as the main data for analysis. The findings show that Jo March uses commissive speech acts to express intention, willingness, refusal, promise, and commitment. These utterances not only indicate future actions, but also represent Jo's independence, responsibility, affection, and resistance to social expectations. Therefore, commissive speech acts in the film function as an important linguistic device for revealing character, personal values, and emotional relationships.

Abstract

Cost and schedule performance evaluation is an essential aspect of construction project management to ensure that project implementation proceeds according to the planned objectives. This study aims to analyze the cost and schedule performance and estimate the project completion of the Parepare–Pinrang–West Sulawesi Border Road and Bridge Preservation Project using the Earned Value Management (EVM) method. The research employed a quantitative approach using primary data obtained through field observations and interviews, as well as secondary data including the Budget Plan (RAB), Time Schedule (S-Curve), weekly progress reports, and actual project cost reports. The analysis was conducted by calculating the indicators of Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled (BCWS), Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP), Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP), Cost Performance Index (CPI), Schedule Performance Index (SPI), and the estimated project cost and completion time. The results indicate that up to the 12th week of project implementation, the Cost Variance (CV) was IDR 257,958,358, which is positive, with a Cost Performance Index (CPI) value of 1.056, indicating that the project was carried out efficiently and experienced cost savings (cost underrun). In terms of schedule performance, the project experienced fluctuations during several implementation periods; however, from the 9th to the 12th week, the schedule performance returned to a stable condition, indicating that the project is projected to be completed within the planned contract duration. The findings demonstrate that the Earned Value Management method provides a comprehensive evaluation of project cost and schedule performance and can serve as an effective tool for controlling and monitoring construction project implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and describe the feasibility of an interactive electronic module (e-module) based on Heyzine Flipbook on the topic of the human digestive system for fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 21 Pekanbaru. The background of this study is that Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning still relies on printed textbooks and worksheets that cannot present abstract material dynamically, so that students find it difficult to understand the digestive system topic and lose motivation to learn. This research applies the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, limited to three stages, namely Analysis, Design, and Development. The e-module was designed with Canva and converted into an interactive flipbook using Heyzine Flipbook, then validated by six experts (media, language, and content) and tried out on one teacher and 28 fifth-grade students. The results show that the media validation reached 93%, language validation 95%, and content validation 96%, all categorized as "very valid". The teacher response reached 95% and the student response reached 93%, both categorized as "very appropriate", with an overall average of 94.4%. These findings indicate that the Heyzine Flipbook-based e-module is valid, practical, and appropriate for use as a digital teaching material in IPAS learning on the human digestive system.

Abstract

This research examines the use of politeness strategies in the comment sections of English-learning videos on TikTok from a sociopragmatic perspective. The objectives are to identify the politeness strategies employed by users and to explain how these strategies are realized in English-learning interactions. A descriptive qualitative method with a sociopragmatic approach was adopted. The dataset comprised 124 comments obtained through purposive sampling from five English-learning TikTok videos created by different content creators. The analysis was conducted using Brown and Levinson's theory of politeness strategies. The results indicate that all four politeness strategies were present in the data: Negative Politeness (39.52%), Positive Politeness (33.87%), Off Record (20.97%), and Bald on Record (5.65%). Negative Politeness emerged as the dominant strategy, suggesting that viewers generally conveyed questions, requests, and learning needs in a respectful manner. Furthermore, the findings highlight that the use of politeness strategies contributes to constructive communication, promotes active learner engagement, and strengthens interaction between viewers and content creators. From a sociopragmatic standpoint, the realization of these strategies is closely associated with the educational setting, speakers' communicative intentions, and the social relationships established within English-learning interactions on TikTok.

Abstract

This study aims to examine elementary school teachers' perceptions of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Freedom to Learn Curriculum) reform and to explore the challenges encountered during its implementation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving six teachers from SD Bahrul Ulum Surabaya and SDN Krembangan Selatan I Surabaya as informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews covering six aspects, namely educational goals, learning materials, learning experiences, teaching strategies, implementation challenges, and assessment systems, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data credibility was maintained through member checking, peer debriefing, and confirmability. The findings show that teachers generally hold a positive perception of Kurikulum Merdeka, viewing it as flexible, student-centered, and oriented toward strengthening character alongside 21st-century competencies in line with the Pancasila Student Profile. Learning materials were considered simpler and more contextual, while project-based and differentiated learning strategies were reported to increase student engagement. However, teachers identified persistent obstacles, including limited facilities, heavy administrative workload, diverse student abilities, and parents' mindset that remains oriented toward numerical scores. The assessment system, comprising diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment, was perceived as providing a more comprehensive picture of student development. Abstract

Madrasahs have a distinctive role in the education system by combining religious teachings with general knowledge in a balanced learning environment. This educational approach is known as integrative Islamic education, which seeks to develop students not only in terms of academic achievement but also in their moral values, religious commitment, and social responsibility. This study discusses the implementation of integrative Islamic education in madrasahs and examines the principles that support its practice in the learning process. A qualitative method with a library research approach was employed by reviewing books, scholarly articles, and other relevant academic sources related to the topic. The collected data were examined, organized, and interpreted descriptively to gain a deeper understanding of the concept. The study found that the implementation of integrative Islamic education is reflected in the integration of religious and general subjects, the development of a school culture based on Islamic values, and teachers' efforts to incorporate ethical and spiritual values into classroom activities. These practices encourage students to strengthen their academic competence while nurturing positive character, responsibility, and concern for others. Despite several practical challenges, including limited educational resources and differences in teachers' instructional approaches, integrative Islamic education remains a relevant educational model for preparing students to face contemporary challenges without neglecting Islamic values.
