Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of an ethnophysics-based guided inquiry learning model on tempe fermentation and to analyze the improvement of students' conceptual understanding of heat. The study employed a mixed methods design with a concurrent triangulation strategy. The sample consisted of 64 eleventh-grade students at SMA GIKI 2 Surabaya: class XI IPA 1 as the experimental group (n = 33) and XI IPA 2 as the control group (n = 31), selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were collected through observation sheets and conceptual understanding tests (pretest and posttest), while qualitative data were obtained through semi-structured interviews. The results showed that learning implementation reached 94.74% (very good category), indicating that all guided inquiry syntaxes (problem orientation, formulating hypotheses, designing procedures, collecting data, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions) were implemented optimally. The experimental group's conceptual understanding improved significantly with an average N-Gain of 0.71 (high), while the control group reached only 0.28 (low). The highest improvement occurred in interpreting, classifying, and summarizing indicators (N-Gain = 1.00), while the lowest was in inferring (N-Gain = 0.33). Triangulation of observation, test, and interview data confirmed that the ethnophysics-based guided inquiry model on tempe fermentation effectively improves students' conceptual understanding of heat. This study implies the availability of an innovative learning model integrating local wisdom of tempe fermentation as a teacher reference for improving physics learning quality while fostering appreciation for Indonesian local culture.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze students’ difficulties in beginning reading in Grade III at SDN 01 Anjongan. The focus consisted of three indicators, namely lack of reading fluency, frequent reading errors, and difficulty distinguishing letters with similar shapes. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects were 23 Grade III students at SDN 01 Anjongan. Data were collected through an individual beginning-reading test and analyzed descriptively by identifying the types of difficulties experienced by each student. The results showed that 11 students read slowly, 14 students still spelled out words, and 13 students repeated words or parts of the text. In the indicator of reading errors, 8 students experienced difficulties in word segmentation and 7 students paid insufficient attention to punctuation marks. In addition, 11 students experienced difficulty distinguishing similar letters, particularly b-d and m-n. The findings indicate that beginning-reading difficulties are still found among some Grade III students and require appropriate practice and individual guidance.

Abstract

Ordering fractions remains challenging for fifth-grade students because they tend to compare numerators and denominators separately (whole-number bias). This study aimed to develop an interactive web-based learning medium called "Jelajah Pecahan" (Fraction Exploration) for fifth-grade students at SDN Petapan 1 and to analyze its feasibility, practicality, and impact on learning outcomes. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model and a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 29 students. Instruments included validation sheets, response questionnaires, and tests. Data were analyzed using feasibility percentages, N-gain scores, and error frequencies. All figures in this article represent field data used to illustrate the analysis process. Based on the data, validation scores were 95.83% from subject matter experts and 96.88% from media experts (highly feasible); practicality ratings were 93.44% from eight teachers and 90.69% from 29 students (highly practical); the average score rose from 51.03 to 82.59; the mastery rate (based on a passing threshold of 75) increased from 0% to 93.10%; the average N-gain was 0.65 (moderate); and all five types of errors decreased. In conclusion, the development and analysis procedures are applicable, though the medium's effectiveness cannot be definitively determined due to the absence of a control group and the nature of the data. The implication is that teachers can utilize this media design to address specific errors in fraction ordering, while future research should test the medium using a comparison group.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of students on whole numbers up to 1,000 in grade III of SD N Mampir, caused by teacher-centered learning models. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Discovery Learning model on students' mathematics learning outcomes. This research uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental Design method in the form of a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population comprises all grade III and IV students of SD N Mampir. The sampling technique employed saturated sampling, resulting in 40 grade III students as the experimental group and 40 grade IV students as the control group. The data collection instrument consisted of 20 multiple-choice test items. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests (Shapiro-Wilk and Levene's Test), and hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T-Test with IBM SPSS Statistics 21. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental group was 21.25, higher than the control group at 18.58. The hypothesis test obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, so H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. This proves a significant effect of the Discovery Learning model on mathematics learning outcomes. Teachers are recommended to implement this model routinely to improve students' activeness and mathematical concept understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the suitability of fourth-grade teaching modules at SDN 39 Pontianak Utara with the principles of Deep Learning. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through documentation of 15 teaching modules consisting of three IPAS modules, three Indonesian Language modules, three Mathematics modules, three Pancasila Education modules, and three Fine Arts modules. Data analysis was conducted thematically through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The analysis focused on four aspects, namely identification, learning design, learning experience, and learning assessment. The findings indicate that the teaching modules have incorporated several elements of Deep Learning. In the identification aspect, the modules contain initial assessments, graduate profile dimensions, and identification of students' initial knowledge, interests, and learning needs. In the learning design aspect, the modules include learning objectives, active pedagogical practices, learning environments, and digital technology utilization, although learning partnerships remain relatively limited. In the learning experience aspect, all modules provide activities involving understanding, applying, and reflecting. Meanwhile, the assessment aspect includes diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments. However, the implementation of Deep Learning is not yet optimal because the relationships among learning components, contextual learning, reflection, and the use of assessment results as feedback still need strengthening. Therefore, teaching modules need to be developed more coherently so that learning becomes meaningful, contextual, active, and reflective.

Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve the learning outcomes of third-grade elementary school pupils on the topic of animal metamorphosis through Project Based Learning (PjBL) assisted by YouTube videos. The research involved 28 pupils and was conducted in three stages: pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and learning-outcome tests, then analyzed descriptively using total scores, means, minimum and maximum scores, and the proportion of pupils reaching the predetermined Learning Objective Achievement Criterion (KKTP) of 75. The results showed a progressive improvement. The mean score increased from 61.71 in the pre-cycle to 75.96 in Cycle I and 82.68 in Cycle II. The number of pupils reaching the KKTP increased from 10 (35.71%) to 21 (75.00%) and then to 24 (85.71%), while the number of pupils who had not reached it decreased from 18 to 7 and finally to 4. These findings indicate that YouTube video-assisted PjBL was accompanied by improved learning outcomes in this classroom context. The results should be interpreted as a classroom-level improvement rather than as evidence that the video alone caused the change, because the intervention combined PjBL, video, teacher guidance, project activities, assessment, and reflection.

Abstract

Speaking skills are one of the important competencies in Indonesian language learning at the elementary/Islamic elementary school level that need to be developed through contextual and meaningful assessment. However, speaking skills assessment in schools is still dominated by conventional assessments so that students' speaking abilities have not been measured optimally. Authentic storytelling-based assessment is an alternative that can be used because it is able to assess students' speaking performance directly through storytelling activities. This study aims to examine teachers' understanding of authentic storytelling assessment and its design, as well as to analyze the problems and solutions. The method used is a literature study with a content analysis approach to relevant journals, books, and previous research. The results of the study indicate that: (1) teachers' understanding of authentic storytelling assessment emphasizes contextual performance-based assessment and focuses on the process and results of students' speaking skills; (2) the design of authentic storytelling assessment is carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, assessment techniques, media utilization, and systematic follow-up; (3) implementation problems include limited teacher understanding, instrument preparation, time constraints, and low student self-confidence that can be overcome through improving teacher competence and appropriate learning strategies.

Abstract

This study examines self-efficacy among drug-abuse clients undergoing strength-based therapy at Balai Pemasyarakatan (Bapas) Kelas I Semarang, in collaboration with Yayasan Cinta Kasih Bangsa (YCKB). A qualitative case-study design was used, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving eight purposively selected informants: two community counselors (Pembimbing Kemasyarakatan), three drug-abuse clients, one psychologist, and two rehabilitation counselors. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model and validated through dependability and credibility tests, including source and technique triangulation. Findings show that strength-based therapy was implemented through three continuous stages: exploring clients' inner strengths, reinforcing capacity and internal motivation, and building future orientation with relapse prevention. Across all three clients, self-efficacy improved on Bandura's (1997) three dimensions. On the level dimension, clients completed increasingly demanding recovery tasks; on the strength dimension, self-belief grew firmer despite continued exposure to old peer environments; and on the generality dimension, confidence extended to family relations, emotional regulation, and social role performance. Supporting factors included family support, trusting therapeutic relationships, mastery experiences, and peer role models, while inhibiting factors included old peer environments, social stigma, repeated past failures, and fear of relapse. The study concludes that strength-based therapy is a relevant intervention for rebuilding self-efficacy among drug-abuse clients within community-based correctional supervision, and recommends that Bapas expand strength-focused counseling as a complement to its supervisory function. Abstract

Employment absorption is a central indicator of whether regional economic expansion is translated into broader welfare. This study examines the effects of economic growth, minimum wages, investment, and human resource quality on labor absorption in Jambi City. The study uses annual secondary data for 2014–2025 from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and official Jambi City Government documents. The 2016 observation for employment is unavailable at the city level because the National Labor Force Survey did not produce district/city estimates; therefore, the regression uses 11 observations. Labor absorption is measured by the number of employed persons, while human resource quality is operationalized by mean years of schooling as the education dimension of human development. Estimation uses a log-linear Ordinary Least Squares model. The conventional OLS results yield R²=0.817, adjusted R²=0.695, and F=6.684 (p=0.021). Minimum wage has a positive coefficient and is significant under conventional standard errors (β=0.3715; p=0.036), while economic growth, investment, and mean years of schooling are not individually significant. However, HC3 robust standard errors weaken individual significance, and multicollinearity between wage and schooling is relatively high. The findings should therefore be interpreted as exploratory associations rather than causal effects. Policy should emphasize employment-intensive growth, productive investment, and closer alignment between skills and local labor demand.
