Abstract

The Love-Based Curriculum (LBC) is an educational innovation initiated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs as a response to the increasing issues of intolerance, radicalism, and moral degradation among students. However, the implementation of LBC in madrasahs, particularly in Palembang, remains limited and uneven. This study aims to analyze the role of the Love-Based Curriculum in fostering religious moderation in Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Palembang. The research employs a qualitative approach through literature review and conceptual analysis. The findings indicate that LBC plays a significant role in instilling values of tolerance, empathy, and inclusiveness. Nevertheless, the number of madrasahs that have implemented LBC is still very limited. Therefore, strengthening policy support and enhancing teachers’ capacity are necessary to expand the implementation of LBC.

Abstract

Abstract: Character education in Indonesia is evolving to meet the needs of students who are not only intellectually intelligent but also possess moral values, such as good manners, which have begun to decline among elementary school students. This study aims to explain how teachers help elementary school students develop good manners. This study employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The research participants were fourth-grade homeroom teachers, the school principal, and fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 188 Pekanbaru. Data were collected through interviews and teacher observations, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions through triangulation of sources to ensure data validity. The research findings indicate that teachers play a crucial role in fostering students’ values of courtesy through their various functions as facilitators, motivators, role models, evaluators, counselors, classroom managers, and planners. Values of courtesy, such as respect, appreciation, and social concern, are instilled through modeling, habit formation, motivation, and practical activities within the learning process and daily interactions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the parenting patterns of single mothers in instilling character education values in children in Embacang Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. The background of this research is the increasing number of single-parent families, particularly single mothers who bear dual roles as caregivers and breadwinners, which may influence the process of character development in children. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving single mothers and their children as research subjects. The results of the study indicate that single mothers apply various parenting styles, including authoritarian, democratic, and permissive approaches. These parenting patterns are implemented through several methods such as giving advice, establishing rules, providing supervision, habituation, and exemplifying good behavior. The character values instilled in children include honesty, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, cooperation, and moral courage. Among these, the democratic parenting style tends to be more effective in fostering independence, responsibility, and self-confidence in children. In conclusion, parenting patterns of single mothers play a crucial role in shaping children’s character. Despite facing various challenges, single mothers are able to instill positive character values effectively through appropriate parenting strategies. Therefore, strengthening parenting skills is essential to support optimal character development in children within single-parent families.

Abstract

This study aims to improve science learning outcomes through the Problem Based Learning learning model. This type of research is Class Action Research where the research subject is class IV C of SD Negeri Rejosari 01, totaling 26 students. While the object in this study is the learning outcomes of the science content. The research data used is in the form of qualitative data and quantitative data. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that learning using the Problem Based Learning learning model can improve student learning outcomes. The learning outcomes in the pre-cycle showed that the level of mastery of learning outcomes was 15 students or 57.70% of the 26 students. In cycle 1 the level of mastery of student learning outcomes increased to 19 students or 73.07% of 26 students. Furthermore, in cycle II the level of mastery of student learning outcomes increased to 23 students or 88.46% of 26 students. This research was said to be successful because it had achieved a completeness indicator, namely ≥ 80% of the class average with KKM ≥ 70.

Abstract

This study examines the role and contribution of female Sufis in the development of Sufism, which has historically been dominated by male figures. The marginalization of women in Sufi historiography is influenced by strong patriarchal cultural constructs that limit women's space and recognition. While the name of Rabi'ah al-Adawiyah is widely known as a central female figure in Sufism particularly through her concept of mahabbah (divine love) there are other female Sufis such as Sha'wanah, Nafisah, and Fatimah of Nisyapur whose contributions are equally significant but less documented. This paper employs a qualitative-descriptive approach to explore the biographies, spiritual characteristics, and intellectual contributions of these female Sufis. It further analyzes the relevance of Rabi'ah al-Adawiyah’s thoughts and exemplary life in shaping the character of modern Muslim women. The findings show that female Sufis possessed high levels of spirituality, knowledge, and social engagement, and were respected by male scholars of their time. Rabi'ah, in particular, represents an ideal integration of intellectual depth, spiritual devotion, independence, and social responsibility. The study concludes that the values embodied by female Sufis such as asceticism, pursuit of knowledge, social concern, professionalism, and spiritual orientation are highly relevant for modern women. These values can serve as a framework for developing independent, balanced, and spiritually grounded female identities in the contemporary era, without neglecting their roles in family and society. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of a modified Soccer Ball Game on the fine motor skills of first-grade students of SDN 101764 Bandar Klippa. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study sample consisted of 50 students, consisting of 25 students in the experimental class and 25 students in the control class. Data collection used a fine motor skills observation sheet that had been validated by experts and tested for inter-rater reliability. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample t-test using SPSS version 26. The results showed a significant effect of the modified Soccer Ball Game on the fine motor skills of first-grade students. This was evidenced by the Independent Sample t-test results, which obtained a calculated t-value of 4.617 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), thus accepting the alternative hypothesis. Descriptively, the average posttest score for the experimental class was 13.48, higher than the 11.68 for the control class. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the modified Soccer Ball Game significantly improved the fine motor skills of first-grade students at SDN 101764 Bandar Klippa.

Abstract

This study aims to describe character education for early childhood within families in Tanjung Kukuh Village. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation. The research informants consisted of the Village Head, the Traditional Leader, and five parents with children aged 5–6 years. The results of the study show that character education within families has been implemented through instilling religious values, honesty, independence, social care, and responsibility in the daily lives of children. The methods used by parents include role modeling, habituation, storytelling, advice, as well as rewards and punishments, with role modeling and habituation being the most dominant methods. Nevertheless, its implementation still faces obstacles, such as parental busyness, lack of consistency, use of gadgets, and environmental influences. Therefore, the role of parents needs to be continuously strengthened so that children's character education can develop optimally.

Abstract

This study examines the use of grammatical cohesion and its contribution to the construction of intertextual meaning in Instagram news captions. Adopting a qualitative discourse analysis design, this research employs a descriptive qualitative method to analyze twenty-five captions selected purposively from CNN’s official Instagram account. The analysis is guided by Halliday and Hasan’s framework of grammatical cohesion—reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction—and supported by the concept of intertextuality. The findings indicate that referential cohesion and conjunction are the most dominant cohesive devices, as they effectively maintain clarity and continuity in highly condensed texts. In contrast, substitution and ellipsis occur less frequently, reflecting a preference for explicit and unambiguous expression in digital news discourse. Despite their brevity, the captions demonstrate systematic linguistic organization that enables the efficient communication of complex information. Furthermore, the study reveals that intertextuality plays a significant role in meaning construction. The captions frequently draw on prior events, institutional discourse, and widely circulated public issues, allowing them to connect with broader news narratives without extensive elaboration. However, this reliance on shared knowledge positions readers as active participants in the interpretive process. Overall, the study demonstrates that grammatical cohesion and intertextuality function as complementary mechanisms in digital journalism, contributing to both textual coherence and contextual depth.

Abstract

This research was conducted because of the low ability of students in reading drama texts and the difficulties they experienced when analyzing elements of drama. Factors causing this include the lack of use of creative and innovative learning models and media by educators. The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of students in learning to identify elements of drama using the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Wattpad media and to compare the differences in the abilities of students in the control class and the experimental class in learning to identify drama elements using the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Wattpad media. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental method with pre-test and post-test designs as well as a control group. The results showed that students' abilities increased in learning to identify elements of drama using the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Wattpad media. There was an increase in the pretest average score from 63.39 to 88.54 in the experimental class posttest. There is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students in the experimental class and the control class, with the average posttest score of the experimental class being 88.54 while the control class is 84.59

Abstract

This study aims to design an Android-based English learning media using MIT App Inventor at SMPN 4 Bukittinggi. The background of this study is low student learning interest, the use of conventional learning media, and the lack of technology utilization in the teaching and learning process. The purpose of this study is to design valid, practical, and effective English learning media using the MIT App Inventor application at SMPN 4 Bukittinggi. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Hannafin and Peck model, which consists of three stages: needs analysis (Needs Assessment), design (Design), development, and implementation (Develop/Implement). Product testing used in the study consisted of validity, effectiveness, and practicality. The results showed that the designed learning media can help improve student motivation and understanding of English material. The validity test obtained an average score of 0.92 (valid), the practicality test obtained an average score of 0.88 (very practical), and the effectiveness test showed an average score of 0.81 (effective). This media is expected to be an innovative learning solution and support teachers in delivering material in an interactive and engaging manner.
