Abstract

The development of educational systems continues to experience significant transformation, particularly in the aspect of learning evaluation, which is no longer solely oriented toward academic achievement but also toward character formation and spiritual values. Schools as modern educational institutions are required to develop comprehensive and adaptive evaluation systems in response to contemporary challenges. One concrete form of this transformation is the implementation of a holistic learning evaluation model integrating diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments with character value reinforcement. The assumption that evaluation is not merely a measurement tool but a reflective instrument to develop students’ overall potential requires teachers and schools to establish objective, sustainable, and value-based assessment systems. Based on this assumption, strengthening teacher professionalism and integrating academic, affective, and spiritual aspects into evaluation becomes an essential need in secondary education. This is particularly important for schools committed to forming young generations who are intellectually competent as well as morally and socially mature. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using field research methods, including interviews, observations, and documentation conducted in several senior high schools in Sikka Regency, Maumere. It is expected that this research will contribute conceptually to the development of a value-based holistic learning evaluation model capable of improving educational quality and teacher professionalism sustainably.

Abstract

Speaking skills are essential language competencies that must be developed at the elementary school level because they support students’ ability to express ideas and communicate orally. Preliminary observations in the third grade of SD Negeri 2 Sanggar Buana showed that students’ speaking skills were still low, particularly in pronunciation, intonation, word accuracy, sentence organization, and fluency. This study aimed to improve students’ speaking skills through the implementation of the Show and Tell method. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles involving 12 third-grade students. Data were collected through observation using a speaking skills assessment rubric and analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis. The results showed that students’ speaking mastery increased from 25% in Cycle I to 89% in Cycle II. Improvements occurred across all speaking indicators. Therefore, the Show and Tell method is effective in improving elementary school students’ speaking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the marketing patterns of Islamic educational institutions in the recruitment of students at Mawaridussalam Islamic Boarding School in the 2023–2024 academic year. Marketing in educational institutions plays an important role in maintaining institutional sustainability, particularly in increasing the number of students. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects included the new student admission committee, the boarding school secretary, and students. The findings indicate that Mawaridussalam Islamic Boarding School applies several marketing patterns in the student recruitment process, namely: (1) word-of-mouth marketing through parents and alumni, (2) maintaining the quality of education and students’ moral character as the main attraction, (3) implementing marketing strategies through direct promotion and social media, (4) determining target markets, and (5) involving stakeholders in promotional and admission activities. Supporting factors include the positive image of the boarding school, the quality of teachers, and adequate facilities. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consist of limited promotional resources and competition among educational institutions. Therefore, the marketing patterns implemented by Mawaridussalam Islamic Boarding School play a significant role in increasing public interest in enrolling their children in the institution.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of ethical principles and moral theories in character education as an effort to prevent and address cyberbullying in Kupang City. The growing phenomenon of digital bullying among students requires educational strategies that focus not only on cognitive aspects but also on moral character formation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study examines the relevance of deontological ethics, utilitarianism, virtue ethics, Kohlberg’s moral development theory, and Habermas’s discourse ethics within the framework of character education. The findings reveal that integrating ethical principles into curricula, extracurricular activities, and daily value practices strengthens students’ moral awareness, nurtures empathy, and reduces the tendency to engage in cyberbullying. Furthermore, the involvement of families and communities plays a crucial role in reinforcing the implementation of character education in schools. In conclusion, ethics-based and moral theory–driven education can serve as a fundamental foundation for developing young generations who are intelligent, empathetic, and responsible in the digital era.

Abstract

Developing critical thinking skills is one of the primary goals of 21st-century learning, including at the elementary school level. Indonesian language learning plays a strategic role in fostering critical thinking skills through language activities that require analysis, interpretation, and reflection. One learning model widely applied to support the development of critical thinking is Problem-Based Learning (PBL). As interest in PBL increases, the number of studies discussing this model continues to grow, but comprehensive research mapping remains limited. This study aims to analyze the development and structure of research on the application of the Problem-Based Learning model to the development of critical thinking through a bibliometric. The method used was bibliometric analysis utilizing the Web of Science database and a science mapping approach. Data were analyzed using VOSviewer software using co-citation analysis and co-occurrence analysis techniques. The results indicate that PBL is a central theme with strong links to the development of critical thinking, active learning, and student engagement. The resulting thematic structure demonstrates that critical thinking is a central axis in the PBL research network across educational contexts. This research contributes to providing a comprehensive overview of PBL research trends and directions and serves as a foundation for the development of research and practice in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools

Abstract

Contemporary education emphasizes the comprehensive development of students’ potential, extending beyond academic achievement to include diverse talents, interests, and intellectual capacities. This paradigm aligns with Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences, which asserts that each individual possesses a unique configuration of intelligences that must be systematically identified and nurtured. Within the framework of Islamic education, such holistic development reflects the concept of insān kāmil, a well-balanced individual who grows harmoniously in intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and social dimensions. Therefore, schools are required to design structured programs that move beyond cognitively oriented instruction and provide opportunities for students to explore and actualize their multiple intelligences. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a talent development program in supporting students’ Multiple Intelligences at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Jakarta, focusing on planning, implementation, and evaluation from a school management perspective. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis involving school leaders, teachers, students, and parents. The findings indicate that the program is designed through initial potential assessments, flexible curriculum planning, and collaboration with professional trainers. Implementation emphasizes personalized and sustainable development of multiple intelligences, while evaluation is conducted comprehensively, covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The study concludes that the Multiple Intelligences-based talent program effectively optimizes students’ holistic development and supports the school’s vision of nurturing academically competent and morally grounded generations.
