Abstract

Beliefs and protective practices for pregnant women and infants in Javanese society constitute a living folkloric system that persists to the present day. This study examines the forms and functions of sawanan for pregnant women and infants in Ngeluk Village, Penawangan District, Grobogan Regency. The research focuses on the use of bengkle and dlingu plants as media of protection against supernatural disturbances. A folkloristic approach was employed using ethnographic methods, including observation, interviews, and the exploration of local belief data. The findings indicate that sawanan functions as a cultural mechanism to avert supernatural threats, strengthen social solidarity, and maintain cosmological balance within Javanese families. The bengkle and dlingu plants are not merely herbal rhizomes but symbols of apotropaic energy believed to protect pregnant women and infants from interference by supernatural beings. This study demonstrates that such beliefs remain enduring because they provide a sense of security and explanations for phenomena that are difficult to comprehend through everyday rationality.

Abstract

Advertising plays a strategic role in shaping public perceptions and reproducing ideology through consciously constructed linguistic forms. This study aims to reveal the hegemony of meaning and persuasive strategies in Tolak Angin and Antangin advertisements by employing Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach. The research data consist of two video advertisements obtained from the YouTube platform, which were transcribed and analyzed based on three levels of discourse structure: macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure. The results show that Tolak Angin advertisements construct a discourse of legitimacy through science, highlighting toxicity testing, efficacy testing, and quality control as foundations of consumer trust. In contrast, Antangin advertisements present narratives of everyday working-class life and build emotional closeness through informal language and representations of life struggles. These differing strategies reveal that advertising not only communicates product benefit claims but also manipulates symbols, values, and social experiences to instill certain images in the audience’s minds.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan bagaimana pembentukan karakter disiplin siswa dilakukan melalui berbagai unsur kultur sekolah. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Seluruh warga sekolah terlibat sebagai subjek penelitian. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa upaya penanaman disiplin dilakukan melalui kebiasaan-kebiasaan yang terintegrasi dalam kultur sekolah, antara lain penerapan 5S (senyum, sapa, salam, sopan, santun), pengondisian sebelum kegiatan belajar, pelaksanaan upacara bendera, pembiasaan berbaris sebelum masuk kelas, pemakaian seragam sesuai ketentuan, imbauan menjaga kebersihan dan ketenangan, pengelolaan waktu yang efektif, serta penciptaan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif dan menyenangkan. Keseluruhan praktik tersebut mencerminkan bahwa kultur sekolah memiliki peranan strategis dalam membentuk karakter disiplin peserta didik melalui kebiasaan positif yang dibudayakan secara terus-menerus dalam kehidupan sekolah.

Abstract

Ketidakseimbangan antara waktu bermain game dan waktu belajar dapat menyebabkan penurunan prestasi akademik, yang pada gilirannya dapat memengaruhi pencapaian akademik secara keseluruhan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dampak game online terhadap prestasi akademik siswa menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif. Uji Kolmogorov-Smirnov Satu Sampel, uji non-parametrik yang umum digunakan untuk menilai distribusi data, digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Temuan studi ini memiliki beberapa implikasi penting, baik secara teoritis maupun praktis, yang dapat menjadi dasar untuk mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran dan memantau perilaku digital siswa di lingkungan sekolah dan keluarga. Secara teoritis, studi ini memperkuat temuan sebelumnya mengenai dampak negatif dari bermain game online secara berlebihan terhadap prestasi akademik siswa, khususnya dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAUD). Studi ini juga berkontribusi pada pemahaman yang lebih luas tentang bagaimana kebiasaan bermain game dapat mengganggu konsentrasi belajar, menurunkan motivasi, dan memengaruhi internalisasi nilai-nilai agama yang seharusnya ditanamkan melalui PAUD. Semakin tinggi intensitas siswa bermain gim daring, semakin rendah kecenderungan mereka untuk mencapai prestasi akademik yang optimal, terutama dalam mata pelajaran yang menekankan pemahaman moral dan agama seperti Pendidikan Agama. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengawasan, bimbingan, dan pendekatan pedagogis yang relevan dari guru, orang tua, dan lingkungan sekolah untuk mengurangi dampak negatif dari aktivitas digital yang berlebihan.

Abstract

The use of conventional learning methods that are uninteresting and suboptimal in developing students' critical thinking skills has an impact on low student learning outcomes. This study aims to improve learning outcomes in IPAS material on needs and wants through the implementation of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by interactive monopoly media. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with a Kemmis and Mc Taggart design consisting of two cycles, each cycle covering the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 25 fifth-grade students. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches, including calculating the average score and the percentage of students who achieved or exceeded the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) compared to the total number of students in the class. The results showed a significant increase between the pre-cycle and cycle II, with the percentage of students who achieved or exceeded the Minimum Passing Criteria (KKM) compared to the total number of students in the class increasing from 65% to 85% and the average score increasing from 72% to 90%. The combination of the PBL model with the use of interactive monopoly media succeeded in transforming difficult economic concepts into an interesting and relevant learning experience, as well as developing critical and collaborative thinking skills, achieving the success criteria of 80% of the number of students who achieved or exceeded the Minimum Passing Criteria (KKM) compared to the total number of students in the class and a minimum average score of 80.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between Growth Mindset and Learning Outcomes of Elementary School Students. This study is a Quantitative Research with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design conducted on elementary school students. The research subjects were 15 students. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, tests and documentation, then analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that there was an increase in learning outcomes with an average pretest score of 66.67 to 87.20 in the posttest. Based on the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the data were declared normally distributed so that the test was continued using a paired sample t-test with a t-count result of 6.118 with a significance of 0.00 <0.05 which means there was a significant increase after treatment. To see the relationship between growth mindset and learning outcomes, a correlation test was used, where the results of the correlation test obtained a value of r = 0.451 which means the correlation value is in the interval 0.40-0.599. This indicates that growth mindset has a moderate relationship to student learning outcomes

Abstract

The development of modern education demands a paradigm shift from teachercentered learning (TCL) to student-centered learning (SCL). This paper aims to examine the concepts, characteristics, roles of teachers and students, as well as the strengths and challenges of implementing TCL and SCL in the learning process, particularly in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study employs a library research method by analyzing relevant books and scholarly journal articles. The discussion indicates that TCL is effective in classroom control and efficient content delivery; however, it tends to limit students’ active participation and learning independence. In contrast, SCL positions students as active subjects in the learning process, encouraging the development of critical, creative, collaborative, and independent learning skills. Nevertheless, the implementation of SCL faces several challenges, including teachers’ readiness, students’ learning autonomy, and the availability of supporting facilities and learning culture. Therefore, careful planning and collaboration among teachers, students, and educational institutions are essential to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of SCL in improving the quality of learning. Abstract

Pendidikan memiliki posisi sentral dalam ajaran Islam karena berfungsi sebagai sarana pengembangan potensi manusia secara menyeluruh, baik aspek spiritual, intelektual, moral, maupun sosial. Islam sejak awal kemunculannya telah menempatkan pendidikan sebagai perintah agama, sebagaimana tercermin dalam wahyu pertama yang memerintahkan manusia untuk membaca dan belajar. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konsep pendidikan dalam perspektif Islam, pandangan Islam terhadap pendidikan, serta model-model pendidikan Islam yang berkembang di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kajian pustaka dengan menelaah berbagai sumber literatur yang relevan, seperti Al-Qur’an, hadis, buku, dan artikel ilmiah. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan dalam Islam bersifat holistik dan berorientasi pada keseimbangan kehidupan dunia dan akhirat. Model pendidikan Islam di Indonesia, seperti pesantren dan madrasah, berperan strategis dalam membentuk generasi yang beriman, berakhlak mulia, dan berpengetahuan luas. Dengan demikian, pendidikan Islam tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai transfer ilmu, tetapi juga sebagai proses pembentukan karakter dan peradaban manusia.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of maharah kalam (Arabic speaking skills) instruction based on narrative texts and to examine its impact on students’ speaking ability and responses in Grade VII of SMP IT Al-FARABI. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of one Arabic language teacher and Grade VII students who participated in maharah kalam learning activities using narrative text media. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through technique and source triangulation.The findings indicate that the use of narrative text media is effective in improving students’ maharah kalam abilities. Improvements were observed in several aspects of speaking skills, including fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary mastery, intonation, and self-confidence. Vocabulary mastery and self-confidence showed the most significant improvement, while pronunciation and intonation improved at a moderate to high level. Furthermore, both teachers and students expressed positive responses toward the use of narrative texts, as this medium made the learning process more communicative, engaging, and encouraged students to be more active in speaking Arabic. Overall, narrative text media can serve as an effective alternative instructional strategy to enhance Arabic speaking skills at the junior high school level.

Abstract

Mutual cooperation, tolerance, and social solidarity were chosen as research topics because these values ​​are essential foundations for maintaining harmony in multicultural communities, particularly in urban areas such as Teladan Timur Village, Medan Kota District. The diversity of ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds in the local community makes this study relevant to examining how local cultural values ​​persist amidst modernization. The research method used was a qualitative approach using direct observation techniques, brief interviews with residents and neighborhood heads, and documentation of community social and cultural activities. The results show that the value of mutual cooperation is still reflected in environmental cleanliness activities and community service, tolerance is evident in attitudes of mutual respect between religious communities, and social solidarity is evident through the habit of helping each other in community activities and community meetings. These findings confirm that preserving local cultural values ​​plays a crucial role in strengthening social cohesion and creating a harmonious community life.
