Abstract

Reading is receptive or accepting activity. The reading activity of some students is considered not a necessity or a necessity. In fact, reading activities need to be taught or familiarized as early as possible. The ability to read does not come alone, suddenly, or just come, but requires a process of practice or practice continuously, and has a clear purpose. A person who has good reading skills will think critically and have good understanding. The obstacles experienced by students in reading are students who consider reading trivial or trivial things. Then, students only carelessly read or did not have a clear purpose. There are several causes of low student reading ability, namely the lack of examples or exemplary parents or teachers in reading books, lack of reading material, environmental factors, and effective education strategies or reading techniques. Learning in the 2013 curriculum implements a scientific approach. The scientific approach is an approach that focuses on science, facts, phenomena, and context. Some learning models that use a scientific approach such as discovery learning, project based learning, problem based learning, and inquiry learning. In optimizing reading learning requires an effective approach or model. One of them is the scientific approach with a problem based learning model. The problem based learning model requires students to think critically in solving problems in both learning and everyday life. The research design used in this study used a pre-experimental design with type one group pretest posttest design. In the application of the one-group pretest-posttest design there is the application of pretest or initial test before treatment and posttest or test given treatment with a problem based learning model. Then, the results before and after given treatment are compared to find out the effectiveness of the problem based learning model in learning to read the description text in class VII-E students of SMP Negeri 6 Subang. Stages of statistical calculations start from searching for the average value, normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing. The average pretest is 53.3, while the posttest average value is 73.1. From the results of the average value before and after it can be compared that there is a difference in value of 19.8. The normality test is known that the pretest significance value is 0.200, while for the posttest value is 0.200. The homogeneity test can be seen from the significance value of the pretest and posttest is 0.342. Hypothesis testing the significance value of pretest and posttest is 0,000. So, there is a difference between the average test scores before and after being treated with a competitive approach with the problem based learning model in reading the description text.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) find out the thematic learning process based on Betawi culture, and (2) improve the musical intelligence of grade IV Islamic elementary schools in the Quraniyah Park through thematic learning based on Betawi culture. Thematic learning based on Betawi culture is the process of learning about culture, learning with culture, learning through culture, even cultured learning, especially Betawi culture. This study uses the Class Action Research (CAR) method. PTK is implemented as an effort to overcome problems that arise in the classroom. This method is carried out in four stages, namely planning, implementation of the action, the effect of monitor implementation and survey / reflection. Data collection techniques using instrument interviews, the results of observation of teacher and student activities, musical intelligence tests, field notes and documentation. The research subjects were 27th grade Islamic elementary school students in the Quraniyah Park, consisting of 14 female students and 13 male students. This research was conducted in 3 cycles. The collected data is analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The results of the students' musical intelligence tests in the first cycle were 14 students (52%) who achieved the target with an average grade of 70. In the second cycle it increased to 20 students (74%) who achieved the target with an average grade of 80. Abstract

This research is motivated by the low skill of writing essays for grade 3 students in elementary school. The low writing ability is due to writing learning in elementary schools often not being noticed. The selection of the right model will give students added value to the learning process so as to facilitate learning activities. One model that can be used by teachers in writing activities includes the picture and picture model, which is a learning model that uses series image media, namely images that are interrelated and form a whole story. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The reason for using this method is to find out how to use the learning model in improving the results of learning activities at Nugraha Pelita Elementary School Jl. Field of Bunihayu Jalancagak Sports Subang Regency. The research subjects were class III Nugraha Pelita Elementary School Jl. Field of Bunihayu Jalancagak Sports Subang Regency. Based on the results of the study concluded as follows: 1) The process of learning activities by applying picture and picture to third grade students of SDN Nugraha Pelita, students are very enthusiastic and active in learning no longer feel bored or bored, this is indicated by an increase in essay writing skills to students; 2) Writing essay skills by applying the picture and picture model can increase, this can be proven by the results of the average value obtained by students which in each cycle has increased, starting from the initial data which only has an average value of 57, in the cycle I meeting 1 on average obtained by students is 65, and the first cycle of meeting 2 on average obtained by students is 70. Then in cycle II. meeting 1 the average value obtained by students is 74, and the second cycle of meeting 2 the average value obtained by students is 78. Then in the third cycle of meeting 1 the average value obtained by students is 81 and the second cycle of meetings 2 values averaged the average obtained by students is 85 which is included in criterion A (very good).

Abstract

The purpose of this study to obtain empirical data on the effect of Kids' Athletics Against Self-Esteem And Physical Fitness in Athletic Pajajaran School students. The research methodology used Ex Post Facto casual- comparative design. Total sample of 30 students from elementary age group 11 -12 years in the School Athletic Padjadjaran Bandung taken by the sampling technique used nonprobability Sampling technique, using saturation sampling (total sampling). The instrument used was Hare Self-esteem Scale (HSS) developed by Bruce R. Hare (Kevin Corcoran and Joel Fischer, 2000: 550-552) and Indonesia Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) developed Ministry of Education (2003). From processing and analysis score that has been done, the result that; First off, Program Kids' Athletics have a significant influence on the Self-Esteem of Students in School Athletic Pajajaran. Secondly, Program Kids' Athletics have a significant influence on Physical Fitness Students in School Athletic Pajajaran.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa antara kelas yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dengan kelas yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran Problem Solving. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan metode quasi-experimental design (eksperimen semu) yaitu jenis eksperimen yang menggunakan seluruh subjek yang utuh (intact group) untuk diberi perlakuan (treatment). Bentuk quasi eksperimental design (eksperimen semu) yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Counterbalanced design. Dalam Counterbalanced Design ini menggunakan dua kelas dimana semua kelas merupakan kelas eksperimen. Perbedannya adalah terletak pada sub bahasan atau kompetensi dasar yang dilakukan disetiap kelas dengan berbeda treatment. Desain penelitian Counter balanced Design tidak menggunakan pre test tapi didalam desain ini siswa hanya diberi posttest saja sebagai tolak ukur keberhasilan pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode pembelajaran problem based learning lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dibandingkan dengan metode belajar problem solving dan project based learning.

Abstract

The ability of students to read comprehension is relatively low, especially in understanding the reading text of the report of observations, so we need a learning innovation that can improve students' ability to read comprehension through the application of the SQ3R strategy. The formulation of the problem in this study are (1) How is the ability to read text comprehension reports on students' observations? (2) What is the ability to read understanding text reports of students' observations after using the SQ3R strategy? (3) Is the application of the SQ3R learning strategy effective in learning to read the text of the observation report? The purpose of this study is (1) to describe the ability of students to read the understanding of the text of the observation report. (2) describe the ability of students to read the text of the observation report after using SQ3R. (3) describe the effectiveness of the use of SQ3R in learning to read the text of the observation report. This study uses the Pre Experiment research method with the One-Group Pretest-Postest design. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the ability to read comprehension in the text of the student's observation report. This is indicated by an increase in the average reading comprehension value of 15.98 from the average results before the implementation of the SQ3R learning strategy by 55.83 and after the implementation of the SQ3R strategy by 71.81. So that the SQ3R strategy is effectively applied to the learning of reading comprehension of the observation report text.

Abstract

There were several reasons for conducting this study, students? seriousness in attending writing speech text were still low and not excited. Therefore, the teacher must choose and apply an effective teaching learning model to improve students? abilities in writing speech text. This study aims to improve students? abilities in writing speech text through concept sentence model and investigated students? responses through teaching writing speech text by using concept sentence model. The quasi experiment is the research method of this study. The control and experiment class were given pre-test and post-test to know the students? abilities before and after treatment. The questionnaire also used to gain the data about students? responses through teaching writing speech text by using concept sentence model. The research finding shows that the model concept sentence is effective to improve students? ability in writing speech text . The indicators of the success of by using SPSS 23.0 are that: (1) the mean of pre-test result in the experiment class was 64,18 and  post-test result in the experiment class was 81,28, meanwhile the mean of pre-test result in the control class was 60,57 and  post-test result in the control class was 71,50; (2) the students? responses through questionnaires found that the application concept sentence model was very positive.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran model  Reciprocal Teaching dan yang  memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Selain itu, dianalisis pula tentang sikap siswa terhadap penerapan pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model reciprocal teaching. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan sampel penelitian terdiri dari 64 siswa kelas VIII yang berasal dari dua kelas di SMP Negeri I  Cijambe. Kedua kelas diberikan pretes dan postes kemampuan komunikasi matematis,  dan diberi angket sikap siswa terhadap penerapan pembelajaran model reciprocal teaching. Hipotesis penelitian diuji dengan uji parametrik yaitu uji t. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa: (1) peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas eksperimen lebih baik daripada siswa kelas kontrol; (2) Sebagian besar siswa memberikan sikap positif terhadap pembelajaran matematika yang menggunakan model pembelajaran reciprocal teaching.

Abstract

ABSTRACT For the development of education towards more advanced learning mathematics sought metacognitive learning. Learning that can build students' perspectives on mathematical problems, by thinking of an appropriate strategy. Then, from the knowledge obtained by the student is able to draw conclusions or reasoning, in this case the achievement of students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This study aims to determine the achievement of the reasoning ability of students who are given learning with a metacognitive approach and students who are given conventional learning. This study uses an experimental method conducted on eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Kalijati. The sample selection is done randomly by selecting two classes from three classes. Of the two classes selected, class VIIIC as an experimental class whose learning uses a metacognitive approach and class VIIIB as a control class whose learning uses conventional learning models. To determine the ability of the two classes are given a preliminary test and a final test with the same questions. The results of the study concluded that students' reasoning abilities on the subject of the circle using learning metacognitive approaches were higher than using conventional learning.     ABSTRAK Untuk pengembangan pendidikan kearah lebih maju dalam pembelajaran matematika diupayakan suatu pembelajaran metakognitif. Pembelajaran  yang dapat membangun cara pandang siswa terhadap masalah matematika, dengan memikirkan suatu strategi yang tepat. Kemudian, dari pengetahuan yang diperoleh siswa tersebut mampu mengambil kesimpulan atau penalaran, dalam hal ini pencapaian kemampuan penalaran matematika siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pencapaian kemampuan penalaran siswa yang diberi pembelajaran dengan pendekatan metakognitif dan siswa yang diberi pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen yang dilakukan pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kalijati. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan secara acak dengan memilih dua kelas dari tiga kelas. Dari dua kelas yang terpilih, kelas VIIIC sebagai kelas eksperimen yang pembelajarannya menggunakan pendekatan metakognitif dan kelas VIIIB sebagai kelas kontrol yang pembelajarannya menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan dari kedua kelas tersebut diberi tes awal dan tes akhir dengan soal yang sama. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa kemampuan penalaran siswa pada pokok bahasan lingkaran menggunakan pembelajaran pendekatan metakognitif lebih tinggi daripada menggunakan pembelajaran konvesional.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kompetensi social siswa pada pembelajaran IPS dengan menggunakan metode Investigasi Kelompok dan Metode Number Heads Together (NHT) telah dilakukan di SMPN 3 Cipongkor, Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kompetensi social siswa dan pemahaman guru akan pentingnya metode pembelajaran alternative pada proses pembelajaran IPS sehingga sering kali IPS dianggap sebagai pelajaran yang membosankan dan menjenuhkan. Selain itu, berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan sebelum penelitian, terdapat beberapa masalah diantaranya: kurang aktifnya siswa dalam belajar, pembelajaran IPS hanya berupa hafalan dan teoritis, serta kuranya guru menguasai metode pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan bermanfaat untuk memperkaya pengetahuan guru IPS mengenai metode-metode pembelajaran IPS yang dapat digunakan dalam meningkatkan kompetensi social siswa sebagai indicator peningkatan kualitas proses dan hasil belajar siswa, serta sebagai masukan yang membangun bagi sekolah tempat penelitian ini berlangsung dalam rangka meningkatkan kompetensi social siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent group post test. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII semester genap tahun pelajaran 2013-2014, sedangkan sampelnya adalah 35 orang siswa kelas VIII B dan 35 orang siswa kelas VIII D. berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang terkumpul selama penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan Metode Investiigasi Kelompok lebih dapat meningkatkan kompetensi social siswa dibandingkan dengan penerapan metode Number Heads Together (NHT).
