Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation of diorama media on the topic of mutual cooperation in the surrounding environment in fifth-grade Pancasila Education at SD Negeri 124 Palembang. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach conducted during the Field Experience Program. The participants consisted of fifth-grade students, supervising teachers, and student teachers involved in the learning process. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and learning reflection. The findings showed that the use of diorama media increased students’ participation during the learning process. Students became more active in observing, discussing, and expressing their opinions regarding the learning materials. Diorama media also helped students understand the concept of mutual cooperation more concretely through visual representations closely related to their daily lives. In addition, the use of diorama media fostered collaboration and responsibility among students during group activities. Although several obstacles were encountered, such as differences in students’ abilities and limited instructional time, these challenges could be addressed through guidance and continuous motivation. Therefore, diorama media can be considered an effective learning medium to support Pancasila Education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was conducted based on the low reading comprehension skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 106813 Amplas, particularly in understanding inferential and evaluative information from reading texts. The study aimed to examine the effect of the One Day One Page method on students' reading comprehension skills. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. The population and sample consisted of all 46 fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 106813 Amplas in the 2025/2026 academic year, including 23 students in Class VA as the experimental group and 23 students in Class VB as the control group. Data were collected using a 30-item multiple-choice test at the C4-C6 cognitive levels, which had met the criteria of validity, reliability, item difficulty, and discrimination index. The experimental group was taught using the One Day One Page method, while the control group received conventional instruction. The findings revealed that the experimental group's mean pretest score increased from 59 to 88 in the posttest, whereas the control group's mean score increased from 63 to 75. The results of the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and Levene's Test indicated that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. Furthermore, the Independent Samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (Sig. < 0.05) with a mean difference of 13.174, indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the One Day One Page method had a significant effect on the reading comprehension skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 106813 Amplas.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of speaking ability among third-grade students at SDN 108/IX Tanjung Pauh and the effectiveness of the picture model (Picture and Picture) in the learning process. The study is grounded in initial observation data showing that of 18 third-grade students, only 4 students (22%) were able to speak well when asked questions by the teacher, while the remaining 14 students (78%) had not yet been able to speak fluently, clearly, and with appropriate vocabulary and intonation. This low speaking ability is attributed to external factors, namely the habit of using the local language at home, and internal factors such as the limited use of varied media and learning models, which made students passive and reluctant to speak in front of the class. This study employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design implemented across three cycles, each consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages, applying the syntax of the picture model: conveying learning objectives, presenting material, displaying randomized pictures, having students arrange the pictures logically, students' oral expression, and concept reinforcement by the teacher. Data were gathered through observation sheets, oral performance tests using a rubric covering articulation, fluency, vocabulary, and intonation, and documentation. A review of relevant prior studies indicates that the application of the picture model has consistently improved elementary students' speaking ability across cycles. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for teachers in selecting appropriate learning models to improve the speaking ability of lower-grade students.

Abstract

School gardens have great potential as a source of contextual learning, scientific laboratories, and a means of improving student literacy. Students gain real-world learning experiences that promote scientific concept understanding, reading and writing literacy development, and critical thinking skills through practical activities such as planting, caring for, and observing plants. The use of school gardens as a component of scientific and literacy teaching has been the subject of much research due to the increasing emphasis on experience-based learning and sustainable education. Therefore, using a literature review approach, this paper attempts to analyze and summarize previous research findings on the use of school gardens as laboratories for scientific and literacy learning. To determine the types of use, learning benefits, and contributions to improving student literacy, data were collected from relevant scientific publications and analyzed descriptively. According to the research findings, school gardens are considered an innovative teaching strategy that improves environmental literacy, cross-disciplinary integration, project-based learning, and contextual science teaching. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for researchers and educators in developing meaningful and sustainable learning practices.

Abstract

This research aims to improve learning outcomes on the Human Blood Circulation System through the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model assisted by picture media in Class V students of SDN 075/VII Kasang Melintang. The low student learning outcomes were caused by conventional learning methods that were less engaging, resulting in passive student participation and inability to understand the material optimally. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects consisted of 28 fifth-grade students. Data collection was carried out through observation sheets, tests, and documentation. The results showed that the average student learning outcomes in Cycle I reached 68.93 with 64.29% classical completeness, and in Cycle II it increased to 80.36 with 89.29% classical completeness, exceeding the specified minimum completeness criterion of 70. Thus, the STAD model assisted by picture media can effectively improve student learning outcomes on the Human Blood Circulation System material at SDN 075/VII Kasang Melintang.

Abstract

Higher education in church music requires students to master both academic-theological competencies and high-level musical performance, a dual demand that frequently triggers academic stress and Music Performance Anxiety, particularly ahead of public practical examinations such as mini-concerts. This study aims to analyze the phenomenological experience of Church Music students at SekolahTinggi Teologi Bethel The Way in performing the hymn Because He Lives in a jazz arrangement at the Mini-Concert The Way of Jazz Volume II 2025 amidst significant academic pressures. A qualitative approach with an interpretive phenomenological design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with five students from the 5th and 7th semesters, participant observation, and documentation study, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Results revealed a contrasting stress spectrum, where 7th-semester students experienced considerably more intense psychological pressure due to the simultaneous intersection of public practical exams and peak theoretical assignment deadlines. Despite the complex jazz arrangement initially triggering technical anxiety, deep interaction with Because He Lives successfully induced cognitive reframing, transforming the perception of academic burden into a moment of spiritual service. Adapting the traditional hymn into jazz led students into a state of flow that effectively blockaded external stressors. As the first listeners of their own music, students utilized their musical agency to achieve emotional regulation and a peak experience that ultimately transformed academic pressure into profound artistic satisfaction and spiritual restoration.
