Abstract

The use of static electronic devices for a long time, especially computers, can affect the musculoskeletal system of office workers due to incorrect hand positions when using a mouse or keyboard and repetitive work. Computer operators at PT. X can spend time working in front of a computer for around 7-8 hours a day, even if they are facing a work deadline, they can spend more than 12 hours working in front of a computer. In general, the body part that is used most often in doing work is the hand where the fingers are repeatedly used for a long period of time when pressing keyboard buttons and operating the mouse. This has the potential to cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) complaints. This study aims to determine the relationship between work period, length of work, and awkward hand positions with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) complaints in computer operators at PT. X, Kendari City. The design of this study is cross-sectional. The sampling technique uses total sampling where the sample is all 35 computer operators. A questionnaire is used to determine the characteristics of the respondents. To determine the awkward position of the hand while working, an observation sheet is used. Phalen's test is a test performed to identify if there is CTS in workers. Based on the results of bivariate analysis, it is known that the length of service is related to CTS complaints with a p value = 0.005. Length of service is related to CTS complaints with a p value = 0.004). Awkward hand positions are related to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome complaints with a p value = 0.001. In this study, it was found that the variables that had a relationship with CTS complaints in computer operators at PT. Abstract

Snakehead fish (Channa striata) is a type of freshwater fish that is widely known by the public. The efficacy and benefits of this fish, especially in increasing albumin which is important for the body, have been scientifically proven. Snakehead fish has a very high protein content and is a source of albumin for patients with hypoalbuminemia and wounds. Black honey is also known to have great benefits in the process of tissue formation in wounds. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic ointments based on snakehead fish extract combined with black honey in post-operative patients. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental method with a post-test only with control group design, a sampling technique with purposive sampling with inclusion criteria involving 30 participants who were divided into control and intervention groups. The intervention group was given snakehead fish extract ointment and black honey for 2 weeks. Observations of the wounds were carried out before and after the application of the ointment in both groups. Pre and post intervention scores were measured using the REEDA (Redness, Edema, Ecchymosis, Discharge, Approximation) instrument, with a score range of 0-2 for good wounds and 9-15 for bad wounds. Statistical analysis used the Paired T-test with a significance level of p<0.005. Results: The results showed that patients who received the intervention experienced an increase in wound healing scores. In the intervention group, 7 respondents (56.7%) showed good wound healing and 8 respondents (53.3%) showed moderate healing. Concentration F1 was proven to be more effective than F2 and F3. Based on statistical tests, there was a significant difference between the intervention and control groups, with the Paired Sample Test showing a p value <0.000 in the intervention group, while the control group was not significant (p>0.334) with an average intervention value (12.86) and control (11.53). Abstract

Patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) often require mechanical ventilators, necessitating close monitoring and care, including regular evaluations of oxygen saturation levels. Suction procedures are conducted in the ICU to maintain airway patency, reduce sputum retention, and prevent pulmonary infections. The effectiveness of suction procedures can vary based on the suction pressure applied, which may impact patient outcomes differently. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of suction action with pressures of 130 mmHg and 140 mmHg on increasing oxygen saturation in ARDS patients with mechanical ventilation in the ICU. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental pre-post design with a control group. A sample of 30 ICU patients was divided into two groups: one group of 15 patients received suctioning at a pressure of 130 mmHg, while the other group of 15 received suctioning at 140 mmHg. Oxygen saturation levels were measured using pulse oximetry before and after the suction intervention. The procedures were conducted in accordance with the hospital's Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Data were analyzed univariate and bivariate using the T-test. There was a significant increase in oxygen saturation after suctioning with both pressures. For the 130 mmHg group, the average increase in oxygen saturation was 5.933 with a P-value of 0.000. For the 140 mmHg group, the average increase was 6.400 with a P-value of 0.000. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the two suction pressures in terms of the overall increase in oxygen saturation, with a P-value of 0.567. Both 130 mmHg and 140 mmHg suction pressures were effective in improving oxygen saturation in ARDS patients on mechanical ventilation in the ICU. Hospitals should ensure structured and consistent monitoring of suction procedures in accordance with hospital SOPs to optimize patient outcomes.

Abstract

Fall incidence among healthcare facility patients has recently become a patient safety issue. To date, instruments to measure nurses’ performance in preventing patient fall incidence have been lacking. This paper aims to report the first and the second phases of an instrument to measure the implementation of patient fall prevention by nurses working in hospitals’ inpatient units or wards. The instrument, Self-Reported Questionnaire: Implementation of Nurses in Inpatient Wards in Preventing Fall among Patients (INI-PFP), was developed using the scale development method. In the first phase, domain and item generation was identified, followed by content validity (panel of 11 experts from universities and hospitals) and readability test/ face validity of 14 inpatient nurses). The study initially generated 46 items from the instrument development process. The initial instrument was sent to 11 experts, assessing the items’ relevance, clarity, simplicity, and ambiguity. This stage reduced three items, with the remaining items’ S-CVI = 0.99 for the four categories. The 43 items were subsequently provided to 14 inpatient nurses from four hospitals in the readability test and face validity with 98,17% of the items’ clear instructions, ranging from 57%-100% of question agreement. From this stage, 13 items were re-written and brought to a second round of face validity involving eight nurses from two hospitals. The end of the face validity test considered the 43-Items INI-PFP were adequate to enter the final phase, including Construct Validity and the Psychometric Evaluation for its final validity and reliability.
