Abstract

Final year nursing students tend to have a busy academic schedule and academic demands to complete their final assignments, which can lead to fatigue and stress, potentially causing sleep quality disturbances. Sleep quality is defined as an individual's satisfaction with their sleep, wherein they do not exhibit symptoms of sleep deprivation or difficulty sleeping. This study aims to describe the sleep quality of final year nursing students in Denpasar City. This descriptive study used a quantitative approach with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) as an instrument and a simple random sampling technique, with a sample of 220 respondents being final year nursing students in Denpasar City. Most final year nursing students in Denpasar City were 22 years old (49.5%), female (95%), and (59.1%) of respondents did not have a habit of drinking coffee or tea. A total of (78.6%) of respondents had poor sleep quality. About (65%) of respondents reported insufficient sleep in the past month, (62.7%) had difficulty falling asleep within 16-30 minutes, (78.9%) had a sleep duration of 6-7 hours per day, (87.3%) had a sleep efficiency >85%, (91.8%) had nighttime sleep disturbances with a score between 1-9, (99.5%) did not use sleeping pills in the past month, and (59.5%) often felt sleepy during the day. The poor sleep quality among final year nursing students can be attributed to academic demands to complete final assignments and the habit of staying up late. Therefore, students are expected to manage their sleep patterns better.

Abstract

The problem of stunting could pose a challenge for Indonesia's Golden 2045. Consuming moringa leaves (Moringa Oleifera) is one alternative to address the nutritional issues present in Indonesia. This plant has super nutritional content, beneficial for food and medicine. This study aims to evaluate the potential of using Moringa leaves as a nutritional supplement for toddlers in preventing stunting, and to determine whether there are differences in toddlers before and after being given food with added Moringa leaves. This research uses a Quasi-Experimental research design, employing quantitative data analysis, specifically a one group pretest post-test design. Sample of 30 respondents, The sampling technique used is Purposive Sampling with inclusion and exclusion criteria. There was an increase in body weight before and after the administration of moringa leaves, amounting to 2.01 kg, while for height, there was an increase of 1.3 cm before and after the administration of moringa leaves. There is a difference between the measurements taken before the addition of moringa leaves to the diet and those taken after. After the addition of moringa leaves to the diet, there was a positive outcome, with 30 respondents experiencing weight gain. Additionally, there was a difference in height measurements before and after the addition of moringa leaves to the diet. The conclusion of this study is that there is an increase in both body weight and height after the addition of moringa leaves to the diet.

Abstract

Psychological resilience during pregnancy is crucial for maintaining maternal mental health and influencing overall pregnancy outcomes. Despite its importance, the factors contributing to resilience and the effectiveness of interventions to enhance it are often underexplored. Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of psychological resilience on pregnant women and assess the effectiveness of resilience-building interventions in improving maternal well-being and coping mechanisms. Method: A quasi-experimental design was employed with a treatment group and a control group, each consisting of Sixty (60) pregnant women selected through purposive sampling. The intervention involved resilience-enhancing workshops and support sessions facilitated online via the Zoom platform. The control group received standard prenatal care without additional interventions. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test, unpaired t-test, chi-square test, and Fisher’s exact test. Results: The three-month intervention significantly improved psychological resilience, as indicated by enhanced coping skills, reduced levels of anxiety and depression, and improved overall maternal well-being. Participants in the intervention group reported better stress management and increased satisfaction with prenatal care compared to the control group. Conclusions: Psychological resilience is a key factor in supporting pregnant women through the challenges of pregnancy. Effective resilience-building interventions can lead to significant improvements in maternal mental health and overall pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a menstrual disorder that is felt in the form of pain or abdominal cramps. Dysmenorrhea can be reduced using pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. An example of non-conventional therapy in overcoming dysmenorrhea is by using warm compresses with lavender aromatherapy which provides a double effect, namely warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy which can reduce the level of dysmenorrhea. The purpose of this study was the effect of warm compresses with lavender aromatherapy on reducing dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls in the Sumber Deras Village Health Center Work Area. The research method used was experimental research with the One Group Pre-Test and Post-test Design approach. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling technique with a total of 36 adolescent female respondents who experienced dysmenorrhea. The data analysis used was the Wilcoxon Test. The results of univariate analysis showed that from 36 respondents, most of the female adolescents before being given warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy experienced moderate pain as many as 29 people (80.6%), all female adolescents after being given warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy had no pain as many as 36 people (100%), there was an effect of warm compresses with lavender aromatherapy on reducing dysmenorrhea pain in female adolescents in the Working Area of the Sumber Deras Village Health Center with a p value = 0.000 <α = 0.05. It is expected that female adolescents can overcome dysmenorrhea pain with non-pharmacological efforts of warm compresses with lavender aromatherapy.

Abstract

Shivering is closely related to hypothermia and is one of the seriously problems in surgical patients that can hurt the patient's condition because it affects patient comfort and increases metabolic needs that cause cardiovascular complications. The causes of shivering are the temperature of the operating room, the extent of the surgical wound, age, body mass index, fluids, gender, type of anesthesia, and duration of surgery. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of giving a heating lamp on increasing the body temperature of patients with postoperative shivering. This study was a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design type one group pretest-posttest. The population in the survey was postoperative patients. The sample in this study amounted to 32 respondents using the accidental sampling technique. The instruments in this study were thermometers, heating lamps, and observation sheets. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon sign rank test with P <0.05. This study showed that the average body temperature of patients before being given a heating lamp was 35.10 C. After being given a heating lamp, the average patient temperature was 36.70C. The results of the statistical analysis test obtained a P value of 0.00, which means that there is an effect of providing a heating lamp on increasing the body temperature of patients with postoperative shivering. Postoperative shivering can be treated by minimizing heat loss during surgery with various mechanical interventions such as providing a heating lamp.

Abstract

Childhood abuse and trauma can cumulatively become interpersonal stress in adulthood. Trauma that often occurs includes emotional abuse, physical violence, and other trauma. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a critical assessment to determine the research method used in a study so that the results obtained are reliable. The research article conducted by Malcom in 2017 entitled Childhood maltreatment and trauma are common and serious in body dysmorphic disorder. This critical appraisal needs to be done to assess the research conducted using the correct method and the results are reliable. The method used is the Checklist for Analytical Cross-Sectional Studies from JBI (Joanna Briggs Institute) which consists of 8 question items, namely (1) inclusion criteria in the sample (2) Population description and demographic data (3) Risk factors and interventions (4) Valid measuring instruments (5) Confounding factors (6) Factors that influence variables (7) Measurement results (8) Statistical analysis. The results of the critical appraisal conducted in the article mention that it has many advantages such as the use of validated measuring instruments and appropriate statistical analysis, but there are inputs that can be used as considerations for further research, namely the control of confounding factors and limitations in the cross-sectional study design which only shows associative relationships.
