Abstract

The agricultural sector faces with various challenges that can affect the psychological condition of farmers. These challenges include crop yield uncertainty, extreme weather, market price fluctuations, debt, and high workloads. This pressure can cause stress, anxiety, and even depression among farmers, who often receive little attention from the health system, including nursing. Objective: This research aims to identify farmers' mental health and the need for agro-nursing-based nursing interventions. Method: This research is descriptive research with a survey method. Respondents were determined using cluster random sampling, and a sample of 227 respondents was obtained. The research instrument to measure farmers' mental health uses the SRQ-20 and the need for nursing intervention uses an instrument prepared by researchers based on the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standard (SIKI) guidelines. Results: The research results showed that 30.5% of farmers were at risk of mental health problems (SRQ score >=6). The most common symptom of anxiety experienced was not sleeping soundly (45.9%). The most common cognitive symptom experienced was difficulty making decisions (35.1%). The most common somatic symptom experienced was headache (40.5%). The most common symptom of depression experienced was loss of interest in various things (43.3%). Nursing interventions required by farmers include the need for psychological education (72%), therapeutic support (81%), and advanced therapy (43%). Conclusions: Farmers often face social and economic challenges, including income uncertainty, social isolation in rural areas, and limited access to mental health services. Farmers usually work in remote areas, making it difficult for them to accessexisting mental health facilities. Agro-nursing-based nursing can develop intervention programs in local communities, helping farmers and their families easily access mental health support. Farmers are one of the professions that are at risk of experiencing mental health problems due to the demands of their work, so they require mental nursing intervention.

Abstract

Surgical or perioperative procedures are always followed by anesthesia, which is a state without pain sensation. Patients who undergo perioperative procedures experience moderate to severe postoperative pain. Therefore, postoperative pain management in addition to analgesics is needed to help stabilize pain intensity. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of nurses in the implementation of pain management programs in postoperative patients. Methods: This study used the ScR scoping reviews approach and used PRISMA-ScR for article identification and screening. The articles were obtained from several databases, include Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and ProQuest. Articles published in the last 5 years (2019-2024) and using keywords related to the role of nurses, pain management, and postoperative. The review of 12 articles was conducted systematically with a data extraction process to identify aspects of research objectives, methods, samples, results and to find gaps or new findings that can be used as recommendations. Results: From the findings of 5,175 initial articles, 12 articles were produced that met the inclusion criteria. The analysis obtained several points of the role of nurses in postoperative pain management: (1) Pain management with relaxation in the form of guided imagery, benson relaxation and a combination of aromatherapy relaxation in postoperative patients; (2) Pain management with simple physical exercise techniques on the bed and mabulation support and effective cough breathing exercises (3) Multidisciplinary and complementary collaboration for complementary therapy of pain management with acupuncture techniques, foot and hand massage; (4) Electrical stimulation therapy, namely TENS as a stimulus for pain relief. Conclusions: These findings confirm the importance of the role of nurses to ensure continuity of care in postoperative pain management and invasive measures.

Abstract

Hypertension as a chronic disease with a major sign of increased blood pressure is becoming a problem globally. Increased blood pressure can be the cause of various other chronic diseases such as coronary artery disease and stroke. As an effort to prevent these complications, hypertensive patients need good and sustainable self-care. Self-efficacy is one of the factors that contribute to good self-care. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of self-efficacy on self-management in hypertensive patients. This study was conducted in Palembang with 35 respondents with hypertension aged >17 years. Data was taken through self-efficacy and self-management questionnaires that have been declared valid and reliable. Most 35 respondents have elementary and high-school education backgrounds, high self-efficacy, and moderate self-management. Self-efficacy strongly predicts self-management, although age and educational background do not significantly influence it.

Abstract

COVID-19 infection transmits quickly and easily from one person to another. One way to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 is by increasing self-awareness. This study was to analyze self-awareness ability to breaking the COVID-19 transmission. This was a descriptive study with 518 respondents. Data were obtained through questionnaires with 40 statements using Goleman’s six indicators. The first indicator showed that 94.40% of respondents were able to recognize their feelings and could break COVID-19 transmission, the second indicator showed that 87.84% of respondents could recognize their strengths and weaknesses in preventing transmission, the third indicator showed that 88.42% possessed an independent attitude in deciding and preventing transmission, the fourth indicator showed that 86.88% of respondents could make informed decisions concerning the right ways to stop and prevent transmission, the fifth indicator stated that 87.26% were skilled in expressing their thoughts, feelings, opinions, and beliefs on transmission, and the last indicator showed that 88.22% of respondents could evaluate themselves concerning the virus transmission. Self-awareness could be raised through understanding. Nurses have responsibility in providing education to helping people be more aware of COVID-19 transmission by implementing health protocols: washing hands, wearing masks, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and reducing mobility.

Abstract

Complementary feeding of eggs to children is one of the strategies to improve growth in stunted children. It is necessary to develop egg complementary feeding interventions based on local food availability. Whether egg complementary feeding interventions can improve growth in children with growth retardation. Our aim in this systematic review was to assess the effect of egg or complementary feeding interventions on improving linear growth in stunted children. Electronic databases were used to systematically search for articles reviewing the literature using PubMed, Cochrane and base, and garuda databases. The research question was based on PICO. A total of 969 articles were found and only six articles met the inclusion criteria and were published within 10 years (2011-2021). All articles were RCTs and in children aged 6 months and 24 months with growth retardation. From the critical appraisal of the included articles, egg intervention significantly improved linear growth in children with growth retardation. An approach was adopted to identify several well-designed trials that examined the effect of egg interventions on growth. This intervention should be provided as holistic pediatric nutrition.

Abstract

Alcohol is an organic compound in liquid form, colorless, with a specific odor, flammable, volatile, and miscible with water in all proportions. Fiberglass factories are among the industries that use ethanol in the production process and for testing product compatibility. Ethanol exposure can occur through inhalation, dermal contact, and ingestion. Chronic alcohol exposure may lead to liver dysfunction and an increase in Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) levels in the blood. This research aimed to determine the correlation between blood alcohol levels and Gamma Glutamyl Transferase in fiberglass factory workers. The research method used was analytical observational with a cross-sectional approach, employing a purposive sampling technique. The study sample consisted of 30 fiberglass factory workers exposed to alcohol and meeting the inclusion criteria. Data collection was conducted by measuring blood alcohol levels and Gamma Glutamyl Transferase levels using the enzymatic photometric method. Data analysis was performed using statistical tests to determine the correlation between blood alcohol levels and Gamma Glutamyl Transferase levels. Plasma or blood serum from the workers was used as samples. The alcohol levels were found to be 100% within normal ranges, and Gamma Glutamyl Transferase levels were normal in 93% of cases. Statistical tests using SPSS and Spearman correlation analysis yielded a significance value of 0.600 (p > 0.05), indicating no significant relationship between blood alcohol levels and Gamma Glutamyl Transferase in fiberglass factory workers.

Abstract

The 2018 Indonesia Basic Health Research reported that 80.5% of individuals engaged in indoor smoking. Indoor smoking poses significant health risks, notably to pregnant women and their fetuses, with one potential consequence being stunting. Pregnant women, while at risk from cigarette smoke, also play a crucial role in preventing indoor smoking to mitigate stunting risks. This study aims to explore the participation of pregnant women in supporting their partners' efforts to quit smoking, utilizing the health belief model as a framework. This was observational research with a cross-sectional design. Purposive sampling was utilized for 343 respondents, with inclusion criteria for pregnant women with smoking partners. The study applied the health belief model, examining socio-demographic factors, perceived threats (severity and susceptibility), expectations (benefits, barriers, and self-efficacy), and cues to action. Path analysis was employed for data interpretation. The findings indicate a negative significant relationship between the socio-demographic construct and perceived threats. Similarly, socio-demographic factors are significantly related to expectations in a negative manner. A positive significant relationship was observed between perceived threats and the participation of pregnant women. However, expectations did not exhibit a significant direct impact on the participation of pregnant women. Conversely, cues to action demonstrated a positively significant relationship with pregnant women's participation.
