Abstract

Background: A community service activity was conducted in August 2025 focusing on education about maintaining posture and preventing scoliosis (Poskoliosis) among students at SD Muhammadiyah Kleco, Kotagede, Yogyakarta. Objective: This activity aimed to improve the understanding of students and teachers regarding good posture and postural disorders in children. It also served as a collaborative effort between university lecturers and the school to foster public concern, awareness, understanding, and skills in detecting postural abnormalities. Method: This community service activity was carried out through a socialization/workshop program using lectures, discussions, and practical training on how to examine scoliosis in children. The results showed an improvement in students’ and teachers’ understanding of maintaining proper posture and preventing scoliosis disorders.

Abstract

Mathematics is often considered a complicated and boring subject, especially in mathematical logic. The purpose of this study is to integrate collaborative and strategic values ​​into mathematics learning through the traditional game "Benteng Pertahanan" (Defense Fortress) implemented in tutoring activities (bimbel) at Olean Nature Park, Situbondo. The methods used include observation, material guidance, game simulations, direct practice, discussion, and evaluation. The research subjects were 20 elementary and junior high school students. Based on the results of the community service, it shows that this approach is able to increase students' interest, concentration, cooperation, memory, and strategic thinking skills. This contextual learning based on local culture has proven effective in improving mathematical understanding, especially in elementary and junior high school students. with the results of the effectiveness test less than 21%, it is said to be less effective if the percentage value results start from 21% to 40%, it is said to be quite effective if the percentage value results start from 41% to 60%, and it is said to be very effective if the percentage value results start from 81% to 100%.

Abstract

Plagiarism is a serious issue in academia that affects scientific integrity and the quality of higher education, especially among students who often have difficulty applying proper paraphrasing techniques. To address this issue, the Government Science Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Mulawarman University conducted a community service activity in the form of a Paraphrasing Tool Utilization Workshop with the aim of improving students' understanding of scientific writing ethics and paraphrasing skills. The implementation method consisted of eight stages, including consultation with the study program coordinator, formation of an organizing committee, coordination with students, preparation of materials, arrangement of the event schedule, creation of digital posters, implementation of the workshop, and final evaluation. The results of the activity showed an increase in student awareness of the importance of academic integrity, with 98.7% of participants stating that their understanding of scientific writing ethics had improved based on the post-workshop questionnaire results. Meanwhile, 97.4% admitted to being more confident in rewriting reading sources in their own language. In addition, 97.3% of participants were able to correctly apply paraphrasing techniques to avoid plagiarism, and an Anti-Plagiarism E-Guide was made available online. This activity is recommended to be carried out continuously with a wider range of participants in order to strengthen academic literacy and build a healthy and ethical academic culture in higher education.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a central role in the national economy, including the Kentucky Crispy Mushroom Home Industry in Medan Sunggal, which has been operating for 13 years. However, several obstacles remain, particularly in financial record-keeping, operational efficiency, and less than optimal digital marketing. This Community Service program aims to strengthen partners' capacity through mentoring in accounting, operational management, and digital marketing. The methods used include an initial survey, counseling, training, and ongoing mentoring involving lecturers and students. Implementation of this program includes the provision of production equipment such as baglog steamers, deep fryers, and continuous sealers, systematic financial record-keeping training, digital promotion strategies, and rebranding the business as "Salwa Oyster Mushrooms" with modern packaging and marketing through e-commerce platforms. This program has proven to improve product quality, strengthen brand identity, and expand partners' market reach. Recommendations include continuous innovation and optimization of digital marketing to ensure the business's sustainability and competitiveness.

Abstract

Indigenous women play a crucial role in supporting the household economy and preserving local wisdom, yet they still face various limitations in financial management, technology, and marketing strategies. This community service program aims to strengthen partners' capacity through digital financial management, training in hygienic packaging in accordance with halal standards, and optimizing digital marketing for HaL-PA's flagship products. Implementation methods include surveys, needs mapping, outreach, interactive training, and ongoing mentoring involving lecturers and students. The program's implementation includes the use of a simple financial recording application, the provision of appropriate technology such as vacuum sealers and labeling machines, and the use of social media for branding and market expansion. Results from this activity indicate increased digital literacy, more hygienic product quality, and enhanced competitiveness through product diversification, trademark management, and halal certification. Recommendations for follow-up include strengthening product innovation and the sustainability of digital marketing strategies.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of farmers in patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) seedling techniques in Teuladan Village, Lembah Seulawah Subdistrict, Aceh Besar District. The training was conducted by a team from Universitas Syiah Kuala through counseling, demonstration, and hands-on practice methods. One of the innovations introduced was the use of Trichoderma as a biological agent in the initial treatment of cuttings to enhance growth success and prevent disease attacks. Prior to the activity, farmers collaboratively built a seedling nursery as a form of active participation. The training resulted in improved farmer competence in independently propagating patchouli seedlings, with a total of 2,600 seedlings successfully prepared and maintained. This activity is expected to serve as an initial step toward seed self-sufficiency and the development of a patchouli-based agribusiness in the area.

Abstract

This community service program aims to develop a sustainable and environmentally friendly patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) cultivation system in Teuladan Village, Aceh Besar District. The methods applied include minimum tillage, a planting distance of 100 × 100 cm, planting holes of 30 × 30 × 30 cm, the application of compost at 20 tons per hectare two weeks before planting, and subsequent fertilization using urea (500 kg/ha), SP-36 (250 kg/ha), and KCl (500 kg/ha). Patchouli seedlings were sourced from the Patchouli Industry Center in Lhoong Subdistrict and distributed to farmers in quantities of 1,500–2,500 seedlings per person, depending on the available land area. The results of the program showed that this method supported optimal early plant growth, improved the physical and chemical properties of the soil, and enhanced farmers’ participation and understanding of sustainable cultivation practices. This approach has the potential to be replicated in other areas with similar agroecosystems, supporting the sustainable community-based development of patchouli as a commodity.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in Indonesia’s economy, yet many still struggle to adapt to digital transformation, particularly in marketing and sales. This Community Service Program (PKM) partnered with Mudeena Food, a food-and-beverage MSMEs in Makassar, to train and mentor the implementation of digital marketing strategies via Instagram. The activities were designed in several stages, starting with needs analysis, training design, content production, mentoring and content dissemination, and evaluation. Over three months, the team helped develop a structured content plan, produce engaging visual and video materials, and manage Instagram features such as Feeds, Reels, and Stories. Performance data refer to Meta Analytics Dashboard for the most recent three-month period, extracted in September 2025. The results show substantial improvements: impressions increased by 411%, reach by 122.8%, content interactions by 937.3%, and profile visits by 221%; the partner’s account also gained 91 new followers. These outcomes compare very favorably with the previous period, which recorded interactions, reach, and visits at around 25%. These achievements confirm that consistent, creative content, supported by an appropriate strategy, can enhance brand awareness and audience engagement while opening opportunities for sales growth. Beyond quantitative outcomes, the program improved the partner’s digital literacy and skills, enabling more independent management of social media marketing. Thus, digital marketing training and mentoring for MSMEs not only drive visibility and competitiveness but also strengthen business sustainability in the digital era.

Abstract

Ciseeng Village continues to experience a relatively high divorce rate, indicating the need for premarital education and preparation for couples planning to marry. In response, the community service team from Universitas YARSI implemented a program titled “Premarital Education with an Islamic and Health Approach in the Ciseeng Partner Village” to foster families that are sakinah, mawaddah, and warahmah, while helping reduce divorce rates. The activity involved 20 participants aged 18–28 years, most of whom were youth members of the local mosque. A participatory method was employed through lectures, interactive discussions, and evaluations using a One-Group Pre-Test and Post-Test design. The delivered materials covered self-preparation from an Islamic perspective, concepts of building an Islamic household, and mental health aspects for prospective couples. Data analysis showed a statistically significant difference (p = 0.015), with post-test scores (M = 14.053 out of a maximum score of 20) higher on average than pre-test scores (M = 13.579). Participant evaluations also indicated high satisfaction with the speakers and content. This program underscores the importance of physical and spiritual preparation in establishing harmonious families and contributes to reducing divorce rates.

Abstract

Taro Village, Gianyar Regency, has community-based tourism potential through homestay but faces challenges in English language skills, financial management, service standards, administration, and digital visibility. A community service program themed capacity building in empowering MSMEs towards sustainable tourism was carried out by academics from Udayana University using an integrated approach through socialization, skills training, institutional strengthening (Homestay Handbook), and utilization of digital technology such as Google Maps. A satisfaction survey of 10 respondents showed that 75% improved their service and communication skills, and 55% became more disciplined in financial recording. Qualitatively, participants reported higher confidence in interacting with tourists, and 60% of assisted homestays were successfully registered on Google Maps.This strategy supports sustainable tourism by balancing economic, socio-cultural, and environmental aspects, making Taro Village homestay s more competitive and sustainable. This program serves as a model for empowering community-based tourism MSMEs through collaboration among the community, village government, academics, and the private sector.
