This study aims to determine the effects of contextual clue within picture of road sign on students’ vocabulary mastery. The design of the research was a true experimental study with Pretest-Posttest Group Design. Learning outcome data are obtained through pretest and posttest activities. The samples were 80 students randomly taken by adjusting to the condition and aim of the research. There was a significant difference from the results of the experimental class posttest and control class this was evidenced by the Fo value. Fo value was 5.491 and Sig was 0.024 <0.05. It means that there was a difference in an effect of contextual clue within picture of road sign on students’ vocabulary mastery.

The goal of this research was to proven that using Christopher Robin movie was effective to improve students narrative writing. In this era the English Language is very important, It is now becoming the most important language in the world. Almost all people from various countries around the world use it for communication, including schools that are continental Asia. There are four skills in English that every students have to mastery, there are: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. In this research focus on writing skill and the material is narrative text. This research has been conducted in Madrasah Aliyah Miftahul Umam. It used pre-experimental design that only used one experimental class that was contained 21 students in XII IPA, the data analyzed from quantitative method. To collected the data, this research used pre-test and post-test that given to the students. To improve students narrative writing, this research used Christopher Robin movie. That the students watched the movie after pre-test or before the post-test given. Movie will make students more interested and comfortable in learning to writing in a class. The results showed that the students mean pre-test was 61.52 and post-test mean was 89.80. t-score was obtained 18.025, and significant (2-tailed) was 0.00 lower that α = 0.05. Thus it can be said that the use Christopher Robin Movie to improve students narrative writing was effective.

Listening is one of English's essential skills. Listening is a very valuable skill because in communicating with others, this skill can gain awareness, understanding, information and performance for humans. Listening involves paying attention to motion or tone. Listening requires recognizing and translating the sounds of speech into words and sentences. It is a general term used to refer to complex attraction, preception and behavior processes. The listening needs to be all-ears focused to the listening portion while practicing listening skills. In this method, it is important to use application as a teaching medium. In this method, it can capture the attention of students. In order to apply this analysis, pre-experimental design was used as samples in the quantitative process. In order to assess the improvement that has happened to students, the Pre-Test would offer students, the care was given to the students, and then Post-Test was provided to classes. Pre-experimental design is being used in these studies. In the Pre-Test and Post-Test, students scored an average Pre-Test score of 59.03 and an average Post-Test score of 81.96. The students were very passionate about this learning process.

The case of discourse classroom session during Covid-19 pandemic is conducted online might contain different and various structures. The study aims are to identify the typical structure of classroom session. This study is in the domain of qualitative using a Conversation Analysis (CA) approach. Data were series of utterances in classroom sessions. Data sources were taken from lecturers and students speech in the activity of classroom sessions. Data sources were taken from lecturers and students’ speech in the activity of classroom sessions conducted mainly by Indonesian and foreign lectures through Google Meet and Zoom. Data collection was carried out using recording, note-taking, and interpreting techniques from the video process activity through Google Meet and Zoom operations. Data analysis uses comprehensive interpretation and reflection techniques. The results show that typical discourse structure of classroom session is I-C-CI (Introduction-Content-Closing), while this has five variations such as I:G-C-QA-CI:F, I:C-C:PM-CI:OF, I:G-C:P-CI:OF, I:G-C:PM-CI:GI, I:P-C:PM-CI:C.

It was such a descriptive qualitative research that aims at describing the occurrence of the interference of Indonesian language toward facebook status in English language. The data were the words, phrases or sentences containing Indonesian interference toward English status on facebook. The source of the data was the statuses on the researchers’ facebook home. The data were collected through observation and documentation. Observation was carried out by observing the words on the facebook statuses using English language. They then were documented by applying print screen (capturing the picture using computer) or screen shoot (capturing the picture using cellphone). The result of the research showed the occurrence of 3 types of Indonesian interference on English status on facebook, namely lexical, morphological, and syntactical interference. However, syntactical interference mostly occurred on English status on facebook that appeared in the forms of subject-verb agreement (ellipsis be, negative forms), parallelism (verb and adjective), and verb use (verb as complement, construction of preposition and verb, construction of modal and verb, construction of verb and adverb, and tenses).

The aims of this study are to investigate the flouting of maxim and analyse the implicature of it. To interpret and analyze the data, the research applied a descriptive qualitative method. The data were the utterances produced by Aiman Wicaksono as the Interviewer and Jerynx SID as the Main Guest speaker. The researchers conducted the analysis by identifying the data applying Grice’s Cooperative Principle (1975), categorizing the flouting of maxims as well as investigating the most dominant maxim of floating which occurred in Aiman’s talkshow video. The result of the finding shows that the guest speaker flouted all maxims. The maxim flouted when the speaker responded irrelevant statements, answered to the question but lack of adequate evidence, said too much and or too little information than it is required, and replied something unclear or ambiguous as well as provided unnecessary prolixity. The study discovers that there are 6 occurrences of flouting the maxim of relevance, 4 occurrences of flouting the maxim of manner, 1 occurrence of flouting the maxim of quantity, and 1 occurrence of flouting the maxim of quality. It is found in the research that the most dominant occurrence of flouting maxim is maxim of relevance. It is indicated by the contributions provided by the guest speaker where he does not make the contributions relevant to the questions and context.

This research aims to know the effect of English daily conversation program in improving students’ speaking skill. The method used in this study was Quantitative method with Pre Experimental research design by using both Pre-Test and Post-Test as the instruments of collecting the data. The research was conducted at Nurul Ilmi Darunnajah 14 Islamic Boarding School, Serang-Banten. The sample technique used was Purposive Sampling, in which one class of 7th E grade were choosen as the sample. The data was analyzed statistically by using t-test. The result of this study showed; the mean of students’ Pre-test was 59.85, while the mean of students’ Post-Test was 7.2. the statistic calculation revealed that the result of t-calculation (tcal)>t-table (tt), in which t-calculation (t-cal) obtained was 4.03 while t-table (tt) was 2.093 with a significant (0.05) which means that t-cal was higher than tt. Thus, alternative hyphothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hyphothesis (H0) was rejected. Based on these results it can be concluded that English Daily Conversation Program improved students’ speaking skill.

The research aims to prove COCO Movie is effective in teaching writing of narrative texts. This research conducted in SMP Al-Madinah Islamic Center KKMB Tangerang Selatan. The population of this research is eight grade students, and the sample of research was 29 students of 8th class. The method of this research is quantitative method and using pre – experimental design. To collect the data, the researcher used pre – test and post – test that to given the students. The result score of the data indicated that, the total of score of students in pre – test were 1.917 with the mean score was 66.10. The lowest 45 and the highest score were 85. The total score of students in post – test were 2.343 with the mean were 78.38. the lowest score 65 and the highest score were 95. The researcher conducted pre – test and post – test to collect the data and used paired t-test to analyze the data through SPSS 24. The t-value of test was 10.176 and t-value of DF was 2.048. Because the t-value of test was higher than t-value of df (10.176>2.018). The reseacher was succesful and COCOMovie was effective to improve student’s writing skill for narrative text in class Eighth at SMP Al-Madinah Islamic Center KKMB Tangerang Selatan.

The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of English learning using the Busuu application. This study used a quantitative method and the design used in this quantitative method was pre-experimental using one group pre-test and post-test. The samples in this study were 31 students of class 10th Ipa SMA Al-Mukhlisin Ciseeng Bogor in the academic year 2019-2020. The mean value of the pre-test results was 43.39 and the post-test 89.19. The results of the t-test calculation can be concluded that the Busuu application has a significant effect on students' vocabulary skills. Evidenced by getting 1.345 for the Pre-test and 2.765 for Post-test. The means for the pre-test were 43.39 and 89.19 for the post-tests. The result of the t.calculation score of 12,492 was higher than the t.table score of 2,042 at the 5% significance level. This means that the Busuu application improves the vocabulary skills of grade X SMA Al-Mukhlisin students.

The utilization of both social media within a communication context progressed as the flow of technological development goes on. One of the most popular examples is the use of video blog within our daily life. This interlanguage study which is presented using a descriptive qualitative method is specifically made with the aim to investigate communication strategies employed by 44 fourth-semester students of English Education Study Program as their effort in accomplishing a field trip project of describing public places into a video blog. The field trip was on July 27th to 29th, 2018 in Yogyakarta, Central Java. Students were expected to compose and submit a video blog of themselves describing a particular public place fully in English during their trip. Thus, the instruments involved are video documentation, which was in the form of students’ video blog, and an open-ended interview. The findings show that communication strategies used by students’ video blogs include 6 direct, 2 indirect and 1 interactional strategies to overcome communication difficulties, which in turn will assist them in composing longer videos and making them widely understandable for most non-native English speakers.
