Abstract

A blood warmer is a medical device used to warm blood before transfusion to prevent hypothermia in patients. One of the main challenges in using this device is maintaining the blood temperature within a safe range, preventing blood quality degradation and potential harm to the patient. To address this issue, an effective protection system is required, one of which involves an over-temperature sensor. This study analysed the implementation of a protection system based on an over-temperature sensor in blood warmer devices to ensure both blood quality and patient safety. The method used in this research involves the design and testing of a protection system with temperature sensors that can detect over-temperature conditions in real-time. If the temperature exceeds the specified limit, the system automatically shuts off the heating process to prevent damage to the blood. Data obtained from testing show that the developed protection system operates accurately with a fast response time. The test results also demonstrate that the blood quality is maintained within a safe temperature range during the transfusion process. Thus, the over-temperature sensor-based protection system implemented in the blood warmer device can enhance the device's safety and reliability, ensuring that the quality of blood transfused to patients remains intact. This study is expected to serve as a reference in the development of safer and more effective medical devices.

Abstract

Androgen receptor (AR) is a ubiquitous receptor responsible for responses by androgen stimulus. Androgen, a hormone which will bind to the AR, is essentials for normal male sexual development. Nevertheless, one of the polymorphisms in the AR gene, G1733A (rs6152) have been associated with numerous clinical risks such as cardiovascular disease (CD), androgenetic alopecia, high prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, male infertility, recurrent spontaneous abortions and prostate cancer. This study aims to develop an alternative and cost-effective method to detect G1773A (rs6152) polymorphism. In this study, amplification refractory mutation system-polymerase chain reaction (ARMS-PCR) using two pair of primers was used to detect the G1733A (rs6152) polymorphism. Primer design was done using http://primer1.soton.ac.uk/primer1.html online tools and then manually adjusted to increase the specificity. A total of 54 samples were screened using ARMS PCR and 2 representative samples of each allele from previous screening were used to validate the results using Sanger DNA sequencing. Among 54 subjects screened, we found 52 (96.3%) subjects carry G allele and 2 (3.7%) subjects carry A allele. No heterozygote was found in this study. The frequency of G allele was 96.97% and the frequency of A allele was 3.03%. Result validation using DNA sequencing was in agreement with ARMS-PCR method results. ARMS-PCR can be used as efficient alternative for genotyping of G1733A (rs6152) AR gene polymorphism

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain and evaluate the impact that pricing perception, electronic word-of-mouth, and brand image have on the inclination to buy on the Tokopedia e-commerce platform (study of students in Semarang City). Students in Semarang were the population under study in this study. Students from different Semarang-based institutions and universities make up this demographic. Since the dependent variable in this study is purchasing interest, the population that will be examined in this research consists of Semarang students who have made purchases online from August to September of 2023 using the e-commerce platform Tokopedia. Anyone who occurs to use the Tokopedia application for transactions involving purchases and sales is included in the sample from this population. The findings of this study indicate that interest in making purchases on the Tokopedia e-commerce platform is significantly, favorably, and strongly influenced by the brand image variable (X1). The brand image that was acquired from Tokopedia is fairly positive, but there are a few indicators that should be taken into account. These include the benefits (benefits) associated with the usefulness of the product and the brand attitude (brand attitude), which is the consumer's attitude regarding their overall assessment of the brand. When taken as a whole, brand image can persuade customers—in this example, Semarang City students—to make purchases. The findings of the research indicate that purchasing choice variables are significantly, strongly, and favorably influenced by the electronic word-of-mouth variable (X2). Electronic word-of-mouth about interest in purchases is fairly strong; nevertheless, there are a few areas that need to be addressed going forward, including the frequency of both positive and negative evaluations, as well as the accuracy and completeness of the information. In general, electronic word of mouth can stimulate buyers—in this example, Semarang City students—to make purchases. The same is true of how people perceive prices.
