Abstract

The advancement of information and communication technology brought significant changes to the field of education, including in learning evaluation. This study aimed to develop an evaluation tool based on the ProProfs application, specifically designed for Arabic language learning, focusing on validity, reliability, feasibility, and practicality. The study employed an R&D method using the ADDIE model, consisting of need analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of the study included ninth-grade students and teachers at MTs. Negeri 1 Boalemo. The results indicated that the developed evaluation tool demonstrated excellent validity, with scores of 95% for media and 92% for content. The reliability level was also very high, as shown by an Alpha Cronbach score of 0.924. The implementation of this tool significantly improved students’ learning outcomes, with data showing that 25 out of 30 items were deemed valid, along with optimal difficulty levels and discrimination indices. In conclusion, the ProProfs application proved effective in supporting the evaluation of Arabic language learning, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in assessments while fostering students’ motivation. Adequate facilities, such as computers and internet access in schools, were essential for its implementation. Further research was recommended to expand offline usability features and enrich content to increase its flexibility and benefits.

Abstract

The phenomenon of despair and the collapse of heroism in modern Arabic poetry represents a critical response to the socio-political stagnation of the post-Naksa era. This study aims to conduct a profound analysis of the poem " Lā tantaẓir aḥadan fa-lan yaʾtī aḥad" (Do Not Wait for Anyone, because nobody comes) by the renowned Egyptian poet Faruq Juwaidah, employing Michael Riffaterre's semiotic approach. As a central figure in contemporary romantic-realist poetry, Faruq Juwaidan utilizes the archetype of the "Knight" to critique the loss of agency in the Arab world. The research method is descriptive qualitative, applying Riffaterre's four analytical stages: heuristic and hermeneutic readings, analysis of indirect expression, determination of matrix and model, and hypogrammatic derivation. The findings reveal that the poem operates through a systematic displacement of meaning, where symbols of power (swords, horses) are inverted into signifiers of impotence. The matrix of the poem is identified as "the futility of external salvation," realized through the model of "The Deceived Knight." The study concludes that Faruq Juwaidah deconstructs the traditional Arab "Furusiyya" (chivalry) to manifest a bleak political allegory, urging a rupture from passive waiting. This research contributes to the understanding of how semiotic structures in poetry function as vehicles for ideological critique.

Abstract

This study analyzes illocutionary speech acts in the novel “Irtitām Lam Yusma‘ Lahu Dawiyy” (A Crash That He Did Not Hear) by Bothayna Al-Essa, using John Searle's speech act theory as the analytical framework. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with library research as the method. Data were collected through an in-depth reading of the novel, the identification of utterances containing illocutionary speech acts, and classification according to Searle's theory. The findings show that three examples of utterances were found for each type of illocutionary speech act: assertives, directives, expressives, and commissives, along with one utterance classified as a declarative illocutionary speech act. This study concludes that language in the novel not only functions as a means of communication but also serves as a tool for building emotional relationships and representing sociocultural tensions. Theoretically, this research contributes to the study of Arabic literary pragmatics, while practically, it can be utilized in the teaching of Arabic language and literature at the university level.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the value of sincerity as a basis for character education through the analysis of the verses in Dīwān al-Imām al-Shāfi'i. The approach used is qualitative with a thematic analysis method, which focuses on identifying, coding, and categorizing the themes of sincerity contained in the poetry text. The research data is in the form of verses that represent the concept of sincerity, such as sincerity of intention, orientation of worship to Allah, attitude of zuhud, and avoidance of riya' and worldly interests. The analysis process is carried out through the stages of data familiarization, open coding, theme formation, and interpretation of meaning in the context of character education. The results of the study show that the value of sincerity in Dīwān al-Imām al-Shāfi'i is manifested in several main themes, namely: (1) sincerity as the foundation of charity, (2) purity of intention in seeking knowledge, (3) tawakal attitude and dependence on Allah, and (4) rejection of worldly motivation in charity. These values have significant relevance in the formation of students' character, especially in instilling integrity, moral responsibility, and spiritual orientation in the educational process. This study concludes that sincerity is not only a theological value, but also has a strong pedagogical dimension as the basis for character education. Therefore, the integration of the value of sincerity sourced from classical works such as Dīwān al-Imām al-Shāfi'i can be a strategic alternative in strengthening character education in the modern era that tends to be materialistic.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process and method of learning shorof, identify the problems faced by students, and analyze solutions to overcome these problems in class III of KMI Ar-Roudhoh Tahfidz Preneur Masaran Sragen Islamic Boarding School. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses Miles and Huberman's interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that: 1) Shorof science learning uses four main methods, namely lecture methods, memorization, question and answer, and imla'. 2) Learning problems are divided into two, namely linguistic problems (phonology/sounding, morphology/word change, and mufrodat) and non-linguistic problems (time limitations, heterogeneity of students' abilities, and low motivation to memorize tashrif). 3) Solutions to overcome these problems include collaboration with tahsin/tajweed and nahwu teachers, habituation of istima' (listening), grouping students based on ability, addition of lesson hours or enrichment programs, and the use of varied learning methods such as tashrif pronunciation using tone.
