Abstract

Early childhood social-emotional competence develops through the ability to recognize emotions, regulate responses, understand others, build relationships, and make social decisions. This study aims to describe the implementation of hand puppet media based on the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework in developing young children’s social-emotional competence. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design at TK Aisyiyah 2 Muncar, Banyuwangi Regency. The participants consisted of 29 children from groups B1 and B2, while the informants included the principal and four classroom teachers. Data were collected through participatory observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that hand puppet implementation was conducted through interactive storytelling and role-playing activities involving social situations familiar to children, such as sharing, waiting for turns, expressing emotions, helping friends, apologizing, and resolving conflicts. These activities demonstrated the emergence of the five CASEL domains, namely self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Hand puppets served as a concrete and interactive medium that enabled teachers to present social situations where children could express emotions, understand others’ perspectives, and practice appropriate social responses. This study contributes by mapping the use of hand puppets according to the five CASEL domains in developing early childhood social-emotional competence.

Abstract

The ecological crisis necessitates an educational approach that integrates culture, the environment, and spirituality to foster ecological awareness from an early age. While traditional games are widely utilized as a medium for character education and cultural preservation, research regarding their role in transmitting ecological values based on ecotheology remains limited, particularly within early childhood education. This study aims to identify ecological values within traditional games, analyze the process of their internalization through an ecotheological perspective, and formulate strategies for their preservation. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at RA Annabawiyah in Pecalukan, Prigen, Pasuruan. Data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving the school principal, teachers, parents, cultural figures, religious leaders, and children. Data analysis utilized the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, with validity reinforced through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that traditional games embody values of harmony with nature, environmental responsibility, communal cooperation, simplicity, and sustainability. These values are internalized through imitation, habituation, and social reflection. From an ecotheological perspective, traditional games contribute to strengthening ecological spirituality by fostering awareness of the interconnectedness between humans, nature, and the Divine. The study yields an integrative ecotheology-based conceptual model that combines traditional games, ecological values, and environmental humanities within early childhood education; traditional games serve as a mechanism for transmitting ecological values through ecological spirituality, thereby establishing a new conceptual framework for sustainable early childhood education. The implications of this research contribute to the development of an early childhood education model based on ecological culture and spirituality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of quality management and competitiveness at TK Al Azhaar Bandung Tulungagung. The researchers employed a single case study method, conducting in-depth interviews with a purposively selected principal and vice principal of curriculum, participatory observation, and documentation. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The findings reveal that the fulfillment of the eight National Education Standards ranged from good to very good, with graduate competencies, learning processes, and educator qualifications achieving the highest levels. Juran's Quality Trilogy which comprises quality planning, control, and improvement simultaneously operated simultaneously, thereby forming a continuous improvement cycle. Moreover, weekly quality evaluations fostered a reflective and collaborative culture while minimizing resistance among teachers. The integration of a rotating sentra learning model, systematic religious character building, and service innovations led to a 142.9% surge in student enrollment over six years. Furthermore, multilevel Dapodik-based analysis demonstrated the school’s dominant competitiveness at the sub-district, district, and national levels. Consequently, this study offers a novel integration of Juran’s Trilogy, national education standards, and Porter’s Diamond model within a single early childhood education case, presenting an applicable model for quality enhancement in other early childhood education institutions.

Abstract

A quantitative research framework employing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group configuration was operationalized to examine the developmental impact of emotional expression card media on the socio-emotional intelligence profiles of young children aged 5–6 years at TKIT Cilukba Cilegon. Managed via a total sampling technique based on active institutional enrollment was the recruitment of a final sample size consisting of 46 children, partitioned symmetrically into an experimental group () and a control group (). Systematic data collection relied on structured observational rubrics engineered around Goleman’s emotional intelligence framework and the Child Development Achievement Level Standards (STPPA), supplemented by institutional documentation. Content validity was secured through rigorous expert judgment panels, followed by internal consistency verification yielding a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.933. Computational processing via IBM SPSS Statistics version 31 demonstrated a mean gain score of 19 points for the experimental cohort, vastly outperforming the control group’s score of 4 points. Inferential modeling via the Independent Samples -test documented a critical -value of 18.904 (-table = 2.015) with an exact significance of , confirming the rejection of the null hypothesis. Consequently, institutional integration of this visual medium serves as a powerful mechanism to expand maternal emotional identification, self-regulation, empathy, and positive peer interactions.

Abstract

The preservation of local culture in early childhood is a challenge in the midst of the development of globalization which has led to a decrease in the use of regional languages and cultural traditions in the community. One of the efforts that can be made is to integrate local culture into the learning process through an ethnopedagogical approach. This study aims to describe the implementation of ethnopedagogy through nembang jawa activities in preserving local culture in early childhood at Pertiwi 1 Kendaga Kindergarten. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. The subjects of the study included principals, teachers, and students, while data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the implementation of ethnopedagogy is carried out through the habituation of the use of the Javanese language from an early age, the use of the Javanese language in daily communication in the school and community environment, and the implementation of nembang jawa activities which are carried out routinely every Thursday. Songs introduced to children include Cublak-cublak Suweng, Gundul-gundul Pacul, Padang Bulan, Jaranan, Gugur Gunung, Sepuran. Which contains the values of politeness, cooperation, responsibility, and love for local culture. The findings of the study show that nembang jawa activities not only function as a medium for cultural preservation, but also as a means of instilling character values, strengthening cultural identity, and developing children's language skills through contextual learning experiences. Thus, the ethnopedagogical approach through nembang jawa can be an effective learning alternative in maintaining the sustainability of local culture while forming character in early childhood.

Abstract

Social-emotional skills in early childhood have distinct characteristics, needs, abilities, and developmental patterns. These skills do not develop automatically but require consistent stimulation and guidance from teachers as educators and significant figures in the school environment. This study aims to describe childhood’s social-emotional and analyze teacher's strategies for suporting this development RA Nurul Mubarok Curahdami Sukorambi, Jember. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The research data were obtained through participatory observation in Class A at RA Nurul Mubarok, in-depth interviews with educators, and document analysis, including the curriculum, lesson plans, and children’s developmental records obtained from teachers and the school principal. The data was analyzed thematically, and the validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings showed that children at RA Nurul Mubarok generally demonstrated basic social-emotional skills, including cooperating with others, following simple rules, sharing, waiting for their turn, and showing empathy. However, emotional regulation skill had not developed at the same level in every child, particularly when conflicts, competition, or changes in activities occurred. Teachers addressed these challenges through structured social play, role-playing, group activities, circle time, positive reinforcement, and emotional support through dialogue. These strategies were implemented flexibly by taking into account each child’s individual characteristics and readiness. Institutional support and the habituation of Islamic values, such as compassion, patience, forgiveness, and positive role modeling, also strengthened the process. Thus, children’s social-emotional development can be fostered more optimally when responsive pedagogical strategies are combined with a supportive school environment and character development based on values.

Abstract

Child grooming is a form of child sexual exploitation characterized by manipulative and gradual tactics; this phenomenon has become increasingly concerning due to children's growing access to digital devices and social media, which expands the scope for perpetrators while limiting parental supervision. This study aims to critically examine the construct of psychological resilience and the trauma healing process among victims of child grooming. It employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach following PRISMA guidelines to analyze literature published between 2021 and 2026 a total of 35. Data sources include scientific journal articles indexed in Scopus and SINTA, developmental psychology texts, and reports from relevant international organizations such as UNICEF and WHO, utilizing the keywords: child grooming, psychological resilience, trauma healing, and early childhood. The findings indicate that psychological resilience in early-childhood victims of child grooming is neither inherent nor static; rather, it is a dynamic capacity shaped by the interaction of internal protective factors (emotional regulation, secure attachment, self-efficacy) and external ones (family support, an inclusive school environment, professional intervention). Critical findings demonstrate that Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) combined with play therapy and caregiver involvement is significantly effective in the trauma healing process, particularly when interventions commence before the "golden age" of development concludes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies employed by educators in implementing the Deep Learning approach through project-based learning at the Tunas Pertiwi Sumber Rembang Early Childhood Education Center. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Informants were selected purposefully based on their direct involvement in project-based learning and their knowledge of curriculum planning and implementation. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings indicate that educators facilitate deep learning through project planning based on children’s interests, hands-on exploration, open-ended questions, collaborative activities, formative assessment, and reflection. Qualitative indicators observed during the projects included children actively asking questions, attempting to find solutions, collaborating, explaining their work, and reflecting on their learning experiences. The challenges identified include the diversity of children’s interests, limited resources, and the difficulties educators face in designing projects appropriate for the children’s developmental stages. Theoretically, this study demonstrates how the principles of meaningful, mindful, and enjoyable learning can be operationalized through project-based learning in the context of early childhood education. Practically, this study recommends enhancing educators’ competencies, encouraging collaborative planning, implementing formative assessment, and utilizing materials available in the local environment.
