Abstract

Corruption remains a critical behavioral and psychological challenge in Indonesia, with its roots increasingly linked to deficiencies in adolescent moral development. However, empirical evidence regarding counseling-based preventive interventions within secondary school settings remains limited. This study examines the effectiveness of a structured counseling intervention in fostering anti-corruption character among secondary school students in Indonesia. The research used a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control-group approach. Purposive sampling selected 60 participants, who were equally assigned to an experimental group (n = 30) that received eight sessions of structured group counseling and a control group (n = 30) that followed the standard school guidance program. Data were collected using a validated 45-item Likert-scale instrument based on nine anti-corruption values developed by the Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK). Statistical analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 26 indicated a significant improvement in the experimental group (t(29) = 24.83, p < .001, Cohen’s d = 4.62), while no significant change was observed in the control group. Follow-up assessments further confirmed the sustainability of the intervention effects. These findings show that structured counseling is an empirically supported, psychologically grounded strategy for strengthening anti-corruption character in Indonesian secondary education contexts. Abstract

Adolescents (santri) in Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) encounter demands, including separation from family, rules, schedules, and interactions. While these environments aim to foster independence and character, they may create pressures affecting psychological well-being. This study investigates the effects of academic stress, emotional intelligence, and self-compassion on santri’s psychological well-being using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The sample consisted of 298 santri aged 15–18 years in Makassar, selected through cluster sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS and SmartPLS. The findings show that academic stress negatively affects emotional intelligence (β = -0.274; p < 0.001), self-compassion (β = -0.200; p < 0.01), and psychological well-being (β = -0.139; p < 0.01). In contrast, emotional intelligence positively affects psychological well-being (β = 0.309; p < 0.001). Self-compassion does not have an effect on psychological well-being (β = 0.102; t<1.96). Mediation analysis shows that emotional intelligence mediates academic stress and psychological well-being (β = -0.085; p < 0.01), with partial mediation (VAF = 37.95%). Conversely, self-compassion does not mediate the relationship (t<1.96). These findings highlight the importance of strengthening emotional regulation based on Islamic values to enhance adolescents’ well-being within pesantren. Practically, boarding schools should integrate emotional intelligence training into pesantren curricula as a mental health strategy. Abstract

The increasing use of visual social media, such as Instagram, has influenced how individuals evaluate their physical appearance. Exposure to idealized body images on social media can encourage social comparison, which may lead to body dissatisfaction. This study tested whether peer appearance culture moderates the relationship between social comparison and body dissatisfaction among young adult Instagram users. This research employed a quantitative correlational design. Participants were 100 young adults aged 18–25 years who actively used Instagram. Data were collected using the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ-34), Physical Appearance Comparison Scale-Revised (PACS-R), and Peer Appearance Culture Measurement. We analyzed the data using multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results showed that social comparison had a significant positive effect on body dissatisfaction. However, peer appearance culture did not significantly influence body dissatisfaction (p = 0.409) and did not moderate the relationship between social comparison and body dissatisfaction, as indicated by a non-significant interaction effect (p = 0.755). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.452) indicates that the independent variables explain 45.2% of the variance in body dissatisfaction. These findings highlight the central role of social comparison in shaping body dissatisfaction, while future studies should examine the internalization of beauty standards as an alternative moderating variable. Abstract

The evolving complexities of 21st-century education demand a fundamental reconceptualization of school counselors' professional roles. This systematic literature review, guided by the PRISMA framework, examines the transformation of Guidance and Counseling (GC) teachers’ roles in both global and Indonesian contexts. A rigorous Scopus search for articles published between 2020 and 2025 identified 573 initial records, which were subsequently refined to 12 high-quality studies using strict eligibility criteria that prioritized explicit discussions of role transformation. Thematic synthesis reveals a paradigmatic shift from traditional, remediation-oriented practices toward a comprehensive, systems-based approach. Four interconnected transformative roles emerge: 1) counselors as equity advocates for vulnerable students while strengthening professional identity; 2) counselors as strategic collaborators building partnerships with teachers, school leaders, disability services, and communities; 3) counselors as data-driven agents of systemic change through policy-informed leadership; and 4) counselors as ethical role models fostering institutional cultures of integrity. These findings establish that role transformation is not merely a practical adjustment but a foundational imperative for delivering inclusive, equitable, and effective counseling services. The study contributes theoretical insights into the evolution of counselor identity and offers practical implications for pre-service education programs, school policy design, and institutional support structures needed to empower counselors to fulfill these transformative functions amid contemporary educational challenges. Abstract

The rapid development of voice navigation systems and voice-based interfaces in vehicles has transformed driver–technology interaction while introducing new implications for driver trust and driving safety. This study systematically examines how gendered voice navigation influences driver trust and risky driving behavior across WEIRD and non-WEIRD cultural contexts. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach based on PRISMA guidelines and bibliometric analysis, we selected 32 articles from an initial pool of 1,351 publications (2021–2026) retrieved from Google Scholar and ScienceDirect. The findings indicate that voice characteristics, including gender, pitch, dominance level, and linguistic style, indirectly influence driving behavior through trust-related psychological mechanisms. Suboptimal trust levels, in the form of undertrust or overtrust, contribute to risky driving behaviors, such as distraction, cognitive overload, delayed takeover responses, and traffic violations. The influence of voice gender is stronger in non-WEIRD contexts, where trust develops more heuristically through social cues, than in WEIRD contexts, which rely more on system reliability evaluation. Therefore, voice navigation systems should be adaptive, gender-sensitive, and designed to support optimal trust calibration across diverse cultural contexts. Abstract

This study aims to 1) describe the implementation of differentiated instruction in inclusive education at KITA Bojonegoro Elementary School, and 2) identify supporting factors and barriers in the development of social skills in children with special needs (CWSN). The study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of the school principal, classroom teachers, special education teachers (GPK), and students with special needs. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that teachers implement differentiated instruction by adjusting content, process, and product. This strategy effectively improves the socialization skills of students with special needs in peer interaction, cooperation, and self-confidence through practical activities such as the “Blessed Friday” initiative. The primary supporting factors are teacher commitment and strong collaboration, while the barriers include time constraints, verbal communication challenges for students with special needs, and infrastructure limitations. Differentiated instruction plays a crucial role in supporting the development of social skills among children with special needs in inclusive schools and should be systematically implemented to create an accommodative educational environment. Abstract

Assessments of adaptive behavior in students with autism often remain limited to individual abilities and do not fully consider the influence of environmental contexts in school settings. This study aims to develop and evaluate the FD ECO-ADAPT instrument, an ecological-based tool designed to assess the adaptive behavior of elementary school students with autism spectrum disorder. The study employed a research and development approach, beginning with a needs analysis through teacher interviews, followed by instrument design based on an ecological framework. The final instrument consisted of 56 items and was validated by experts in special education and psychology before field testing with 39 teachers. We analyzed data using percentage techniques for validity and practicality and Cronbach’s alpha for reliability, supported by corrected item-total correlation analysis. The results showed that the instrument achieved high validity (95% for construct and 87.5% for content), very high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.987), and high practicality (90.83%). These findings indicate that the FD ECO-ADAPT instrument is feasible, consistent, and applicable in real classroom contexts. In conclusion, the instrument provides a comprehensive and context-sensitive approach to assessing adaptive behavior, bridging the gap between ecological theory and practical assessment needs in special education. Abstract

Mindfulness is an important construct in psychology, counseling, education, and mental health research. However, concise Indonesian instruments for assessing mindfulness as a multidimensional construct remain limited. This study examined the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire–Short Form (FFMQ-SF). A quantitative psychometric validation design involved 387 students from Universitas Riau, Indonesia. The adaptation process included translation, synthesis, back-translation, expert review, and pre-testing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure, Bartlett’s test of sphericity, confirmatory factor analysis, standardized factor loadings, average variance extracted, Cronbach’s alpha, and McDonald’s omega. The findings supported the five-factor structure of the Indonesian FFMQ-SF: observing, describing, acting with awareness, nonjudging of inner experience, and nonreactivity to inner experience. CFA showed acceptable model fit, with CFI = .918, TLI = .904, RMSEA = .050, and SRMR = .073. Standardized factor loadings ranged from .477 to .862. Reliability was acceptable for the total scale (ω = .792, α = .770) and most facets (ω = .681–.867). However, AVE values for describing, acting with awareness, and nonreactivity were below .50, indicating limited convergent validity. The Indonesian FFMQ-SF appears promising for assessing mindfulness among Indonesian university students. Abstract

Islamic counseling requires conceptual frameworks that address the spiritual and psychological dimensions of human experience. This study develops an Islamic counseling approach grounded in ‘Irfānī ‘amalī epistemology and the Naqshbandiyya Sufi tradition. It examines how this tradition’s understanding of the self can inform counseling objectives, practices, and the counselor–client relationship. The study employed an integrative literature review, drawing on classical Islamic texts, scholarship, and research on Islamic spirituality and mental health. The authors analyzed sources thematically by comparing conceptualizations of the self, spiritual practices, therapeutic processes, and implications for counseling. The findings conceptualize the human being as a spiritual reality comprising the physical body (jasad) and subtle elements (laṭā’if), with ‘ubūdiyyah and tazkiyat al-nafs guiding spiritual development. The framework identifies three forms of guidance: sulūk, tawajjuh, and spiritual-social guidance accompanied by prayer. It emphasizes the role of a mursyid or authorized khalīfah, whose guidance is situated within the tradition’s principles of sanad and rābiṭah. The framework contributes a conceptual structure linking spiritual anthropology, counseling objectives, practices, and ethical guidance. Because the study relies on literature rather than intervention testing, empirical investigation is needed to assess the model’s feasibility, acceptability, and psychological outcomes. This framework may inform future research and culturally responsive Islamic counseling practice. Keywords: Islamic counseling; ‘Irfānī epistemology; Naqshbandiyya; Tazkiyat al-nafs; Sufi tradition

Abstract

This study examines the forms of religious behavior among Muslim transgender women (waria) and the factors influencing their religious practices in Bengkulu City. Drawing on Goffman’s dramaturgical perspective and the concepts of safe space and internalized stigma, this research employs a qualitative field study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight informants: six Muslim waria as primary informants and two supporting informants from the Pesona Bengkulu Foundation. The data were analyzed thematically through an interactive process of data condensation, data display, and conclusion verification. The findings reveal that waria actively engage in religious practices, including prayer, fasting, Qur’an recitation, supplication, and charitable activities, although the level of consistency varies among individuals. A notable finding is that most informants revert to male religious identity by wearing a sarong during prayer as a strategy of impression management and compliance with normative religious expectations. The study also shows that religious practices are predominantly performed in private spaces, particularly at home, rather than in mosques, due to internalized stigma and concerns about social rejection. Religious expressions are further shaped by psychological struggles related to gender identity, family upbringing, early religious education, and involvement in religious institutions. These findings demonstrate that religious commitment among waria is negotiated through complex interactions between personal faith, social acceptance, and religious norms.
