Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly disrupted social and psychological well-being worldwide, yet the role of trust in shaping life satisfaction within collectivist post-pandemic societies remains underexplored. This study examines the relationship between social trust and life satisfaction in major Indonesian cities after the COVID-19 pandemic, employing a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design. A total of 150 adults from 14 cities participated, completing the General Trust Scale and Satisfaction with Life Scale, followed by thematic analysis of open-ended responses. Quantitative results showed that interpersonal trust significantly predicted life satisfaction (β = 0.31, p < 0.001) but accounted for only 9.4% of the variance (R² = 0.094), indicating that other factors explained 90.6% of life satisfaction. Thematic analysis revealed three psychological themes bridging trust and life satisfaction: honesty, positive attitudes, and meaning in life. A mediation model demonstrated that intrapersonal factors (positive attitudes and meaning in life; β = 0.512, p < 0.001) were substantially more dominant (52.3%) than interpersonal trust (24.1%) in explaining life satisfaction. This study concludes that in collectivist post-COVID Indonesia, interpersonal trust influences life satisfaction primarily through intrapersonal meaning-making and positive attitudes, rather than directly. Theoretically, it advances the subjective well-being literature by proposing an expanded trust-well-being model that integrates collectivist cultural elements and positive psychology. In practice, post-pandemic recovery programs should prioritize community-based interventions that strengthen meaning in life, positive attitudes, and interpersonal trust. Abstract

Married students face the simultaneous demands of higher education and marital responsibilities, which may generate role conflict, psychosocial pressure, and challenges in maintaining psychological well-being. This systematic literature review aimed to synthesize evidence concerning resilience among married students and identify factors, processes, and guidance and counseling implications associated with resilience development. We conducted the systematic literature review following the PRISMA 2020 framework. Literature published between 2015 and 2024 from Google Scholar, Sage, ScienceDirect, Semantic Scholar, and the Malang State University repository, focusing on resilience, married students, long-distance marriage, dual roles, and related psychosocial processes. The selected literature was analyzed thematically to identify recurring patterns and relationships among academic demands, marital responsibilities, coping, social support, and resilience. The review indicates that resilience among married students is shaped by interactions among academic demands, marital responsibilities, psychosocial pressures, emotional regulation, coping strategies, spousal communication, family support, and broader social resources. Long-distance marriage and competing role expectations may intensify psychological pressure, whereas supportive relationships and adaptive coping may facilitate adjustment and psychological well-being. Existing evidence remains fragmented, particularly regarding integrated models linking academic–marital role conflict, resilience, long-distance marriage, and guidance and counseling interventions. Future research should employ longitudinal and intervention-oriented designs to develop culturally responsive counseling programs that strengthen resilience and sustainable balance between students’ academic and marital roles. Keywords: long-distance marriage, dual roles of students, resilience, role theory, Erikson's developmental theory

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ satisfaction with Guidance and Counseling (GC) services regarding the implementation of the government program “7 Jurus BK Hebat: Kenali Potensi” in senior high schools. Using a quantitative descriptive-comparative design, 209 respondents were selected through purposive sampling, a non-probability method with limitations for generalizing the findings. The instrument measured four dimensions: multiple intelligences, learning styles, career readiness, and service satisfaction. To evaluate satisfaction levels and identify demographic differences, data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-tests, and One-Way ANOVA. Results showed high overall satisfaction (Mean = 3.14), with the intelligence dimension scoring highest (Mean= 3.19). While ANOVA showed no significant difference across grade levels (p = 0.240), the t-test revealed a significant disparity by gender (p = 0.001). These findings confirm the program's effectiveness in enhancing self-understanding but underscore gender's influence on service perception. Consequently, this study suggests a theoretical and practical shift toward gender-responsive counseling. GC teachers should adapt their intervention strategies to bridge the satisfaction gap and ensure equitable support for all students. Abstract

Social reintegration remains a complex challenge for prisoners because successful transition after release requires not only practical competencies but also psychological readiness and confidence in managing social and occupational demands. This study examined the role of self-efficacy in preparing prisoners for social reintegration at the Gresik Class IIB Detention Center, Indonesia. A qualitative instrumental case study design was employed involving five prisoners, two correctional officers, and one security staff member selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review, and were analyzed using the interactive model of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that self-efficacy developed gradually through mastery experiences, peer support, recognition and encouragement from correctional officers, and family encouragement. Successful participation in rehabilitation and vocational activities provided concrete experiences of competence, while supportive interpersonal relationships reinforced confidence and future-oriented motivation. However, anticipated stigma, uncertainty about employment, and concerns regarding social acceptance created anxiety and contributed to fluctuations in reintegration readiness. The study concludes that self-efficacy functions as an important psychological resource linking rehabilitation experiences and social support with prisoners’ perceived readiness for reintegration. Correctional rehabilitation should therefore integrate competency development with sustained opportunities for mastery, supportive relationships, institutional recognition, family engagement, and preparation for anticipated post-release social barriers. Abstract

This study aims to examine differences in readiness for change based on ethnic background among communities in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Readiness for change is a psychological condition that reflects individuals’ cognitive and emotional acceptance of change, as well as their willingness to engage in change processes. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 67 respondents from seven ethnic groups, namely Manggarai, Nagekeo, Ngada, East Flores, Ende, Lembata, and Sikka, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Readiness for Change Scale developed by Armenakis and Harris. Statistical analyses included normality testing, homogeneity testing, one-way ANOVAs, and mean comparisons across ethnic groups. The results revealed a significant difference in readiness for change based on ethnicity (p < 0.05). The Manggarai, Ngada, and East Flores ethnic groups showed the highest levels of readiness for change, while the Maumere and Lembata groups exhibited the lowest scores. These differences are influenced by variations in cultural values, openness to social interaction, and acculturation orientations. The findings highlight that ethnicity plays an important role in shaping individuals’ attitudes toward change. This study contributes to cultural psychology by emphasizing the importance of culturally sensitive approaches in change management and social development programs. Abstract

Although wounded inner child is known to influence personality development and emotional regulation, empirical studies examining its relationship with future orientation within religious formation contexts, especially among Catholic seminarians in Indonesia, remain limited. This study examines this relationship. This research employed a quantitative non-experimental correlational design. Participants were 103 seminarians aged 17–24 years, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Wounded Inner Child Scale and the Future Orientation Scale developed by Azmi (2023). Because the assumption of linearity was not met (p = 0.339), Spearman Rank correlation was applied. The findings revealed a strong and significant positive correlation between wounded inner child and future orientation (r = 0.771; p = 0.029), indicating that higher levels of childhood emotional wounds were associated with higher levels of future orientation among seminarians. The results indicate that childhood emotional wounds, when processed within structured religious formation, may contribute to deeper vocational clarity and strengthened future orientation, suggesting that early emotional struggles can become meaningful resources in vocational development. Abstract

Employee performance in public healthcare remains a critical issue, yet limited research explains how psychosocial workplace factors jointly influence performance in primary health services. While prior studies have examined workplace psychological conditions and quality of work life separately, this study integrates both within a single mediational model by positioning affective commitment as a key explanatory mechanism, addressing a gap in the human resource management literature in the underexplored context of Community Health Centers in the East Banjarmasin District, Indonesia. This study uses a cross-sectional quantitative design with a census sampling technique, including all 209 employees as the research sample. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling to assess measurement and structural relationships. The findings indicate that workplace psychological conditions and quality of work life enhance affective commitment and employee performance, with affective commitment partially mediating these relationships. The study validates an integrated psychosocial work environment and commitment framework and provides practical guidance for strengthening public health service delivery through improved workplace conditions and employee well-being. Abstract

This study aims to investigate in depth how adolescents interpret their experiences of double trauma resulting from exposure to domestic violence and peer bullying. Using a qualitative approach with narrative analysis, this study examines the impact of these traumatic experiences on the development of aggressive behavior and anxiety patterns in four adolescent informants from broken homes. The results indicate that exposure to violence at home and school creates a phenomenon of poly-victimization that undermines adolescents' sense of security and destroys their psychological structure. Informants interpret their experiences as an existential threat that triggers an emotional transition from helplessness and deep sadness to reactive aggression and destructive desire for revenge. Distorted coping mechanisms were found, such as bringing sharp weapons to school as a form of extreme self-defense. In addition, this trauma caused an identity crisis, the erosion of self-confidence, and the emergence of significant trust issues with the social environment. The study concluded that domestic violence internalized through identification with the perpetrator encourages adolescents to use aggression as their primary means of survival. These findings emphasize the importance of comprehensive psychosocial interventions to break the cycle of trauma and prevent the escalation of criminal behavior in the future. Abstract

Hajj pilgrimage exposes individuals to intense physical, social, and spiritual demands that may heighten anxiety, making it important to understand how emotion regulation and psychological well-being shape this experience. This study examined the mediating role of psychological well-being in the relationship between emotion regulation and anxiety among 243 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims using a quantitative cross-sectional design. Participants completed the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), the Ryff-based Psychological Well-Being scale, and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7). Data were analyzed using PROCESS Macro Model 4 with 5,000 bootstrap samples. Emotion regulation showed a significant negative effect on anxiety (β = -0.21, p < .001) and a significant positive effect on psychological well-being (β = 0.34, p < .001). Psychological well-being demonstrated a significant positive association with anxiety (β = 0.10, p < .05). Mediation analysis indicated a significant indirect effect of emotion regulation on anxiety through psychological well-being (indirect effect = 0.033, 95% CI [0.006, 0.066]). These findings suggest that psychological well-being functions as a contextual and ambivalent mediator: greater well-being may increase reflective anxiety related to spiritual responsibility. Pre-Hajj psychological preparation should therefore combine adaptive emotion regulation training with strategies for managing evaluative stress and spiritual performance concerns. Keywords: anxiety, emotion regulation, psychological well-being

Abstract

Quarter-life crisis (QLC) has emerged as a significant psychological challenge among Generation Z university students, highlighting the importance of understanding its psychological and socioeconomic determinants. This study examined the mediating role of mindset in the relationships between general psychological distress, socioeconomic status (SES), and QLC using covariance-based structural equation modeling (SEM). This cross-sectional study included 612 university students aged 18–28 years from six provinces in Java, Indonesia. Measures included the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), SES indicators, the Revised Implicit Theories of Intelligence Scale, and the Quarter-Life Crisis Scale. The structural model demonstrated acceptable fit (CFI = 0.909; RMSEA = 0.051). General psychological distress had a significant positive direct effect on QLC (β = 0.50) and a significant negative effect on mindset (β = −0.81). Mindset had a significant negative direct effect on QLC (β = −0.49). Mindset also had significant indirect effects on QLC through psychological distress (β = 0.39) and SES (β = 0.05). These findings indicate that QLC is shaped more strongly by internal psychological processes than by external socioeconomic conditions. The results highlight the importance of developing higher education interventions that integrate emotional regulation and growth mindset to support students in managing developmental challenges.
