Abstract

Food security is a strategic issue in rural areas as it relates to the availability, accessibility, and sustainability of food based on local potential. Women play a central role in maintaining food security, both as household managers and as village economic actors. This study refers to the literature on local wisdom, value-added products, and Rogers diffusion of innovation theory to explain how simple innovations can be adopted by communities. The implementation method applied a community engagement approach through the Thematic Community Service Program of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, which consisted of four stages: preparation, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. The activities focused on training women in processing papaya into sambal papaya as a locally based food product with market value, along with introducing digital marketing as a modern strategy to expand market access. The results indicate an improvement in women’s technical skills in processing papaya into innovative products, increased awareness of the economic potential of local food resources, and new knowledge of utilizing social media for marketing purposes. The active participation and enthusiasm of the community highlight that strengthening women’s capacity through local resource utilization can encourage economic independence while enhancing village food security. In conclusion, women’s empowerment based on local wisdom and the integration of digital technology serves as an effective strategy to achieve sustainable food security in Tolomato Village.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented in Lompotoo Village to address low digital literacy, limited MSME branding, and the suboptimal utilization of local resources. The activities included digital marketing training, content creation workshops, and branding education based on the village’s local potential. A participatory approach was used through four stages: preparation, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. The results show a significant increase in community digital understanding, demonstrated by a 38–39 point improvement in pre-test and post-test scores. Additionally, a local product innovation called “LOPBOBA” was successfully developed, and the village website began operating as a promotional platform for MSMEs. This program has strengthened community digital skills, enhanced village identity, and supported sustainable local economic growth.

Abstract

Permasalahan sanitasi dan pengelolaan sampah masih menjadi isu utama dalam banyak wilayah pedesaan di Indonesia, termasuk di Desa Dunggala, Kecamatan Tapa, Kabupaten Bone Bolango. Kondisi saluran drainase yang tidak berfungsi, kebiasaan membuang sampah sembarangan, serta minimnya fasilitas pengelolaan sampah menjadi tantangan serius yang berdampak pada kesehatan dan kualitas lingkungan permukiman. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas kawasan permukiman melalui pendekatan terpadu yang mencakup revitalisasi infrastruktur sanitasi dan sistem pengelolaan sampah berbasis komunitas. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan secara partisipatif, meliputi sosialisasi, pemetaan partisipatif, perbaikan infrastruktur, pelatihan pengelolaan sampah, serta pembentukan kelompok pengelola sanitasi dan sampah desa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kebersihan lingkungan, perbaikan perilaku warga dalam pengelolaan limbah, serta terbentuknya sistem kelembagaan lokal yang mendukung keberlanjutan program. Kegiatan ini menjadi model praktik baik dalam pengembangan kawasan permukiman sehat berbasis pemberdayaan masyarakat

Abstract

The Community Empowerment Program of Payunga Village in Processing Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) into Snack Products to Increase Community Income was implemented as an effort to enhance the local economy through innovation in fishery product processing. Payunga Village has abundant tilapia resources; however, they have traditionally been used only as fresh food without further processing. This community service program aimed to improve local residents’ skills in processing tilapia into value-added products, specifically tilapia pempek, while also strengthening managerial capabilities and expanding marketing access through digital promotion. The implementation method included forming community and student groups, conducting technical training on tilapia processing, providing business management assistance, and introducing digital marketing strategies. The results showed significant improvement in participants’ production skills, entrepreneurship motivation, and awareness of product quality. The tilapia pempek product was well received by local consumers due to its unique flavor and affordable price. Furthermore, the program fostered community awareness of the importance of business diversification and the potential of creative rural economies. Overall, this program contributed to increasing income, strengthening family economies, and promoting sustainable local-based economic independence.

Abstract

Tunggulo Village is one of the villages in the West Limboto District of Gorontalo Regency. Tunggulo village is facing several fundamental problems that affect the quality of life of its people. Tunggulo village is facing serious obstacles in waste management and wastewater disposal system (SPAL). The implementation of the Infrastructure Thematic Real Work Lecture has been held through a participatory approach that provides direct education to the community. The result of the community's active involvement in the Infrastructure Thematic Real Work Lecture is the creation of an IMAP Map (Problem Identification and Potential Analysis) in the form of mapping the conditions related to sanitation infrastructure (Unfit Houses (RTLH), garbage and Wastewater Treatment System SPAL)). Regarding waste, the calculation of household waste generation in Tunggulo Village has also been carried out with the weight of waste generation amounting to 1137.15 kg per day or with a volume of 6.06 m3 per day. As a follow-up, the solutions to the next problems are compiled into a medium and long-term development plan for the procurement program of quality housing for healthy homes, waste bins, TPS, TPS3R, waste banks compost, which can provide good impact solutions to village problems in terms of RTLH, stunting and sanitation. The formation of the Waste Management Task Force is expected to help coordinate with related parties and partners and sustainable waste management.

Abstract

The digital transformation has created both challenges and opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in the context of marketing and promotion. This article examines the implementation of a webinar entitled “GASPOL: Exploring Online Promotion Strategies through TikTok Content” as a model of MSME empowerment based on digital education. The activity was organized by the Regional Small Medium Enterprise Service (RSMES) unit of Telkom Regional V involved the direct participation of 150 participants from MSME actors and 31 members of the public with an interest in contemporary marketing strategies. The approach utilized systematic planning, the selection of competent speakers, the preparation of needs-based instructional materials, and both qualitative and quantitative evaluations of participant satisfaction. The webinar was conducted online and presented content on digital branding, storytelling techniques, and the strategic use of TikTok as a promotional tool. The results demonstrated high participant engagement, optimal achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs), and strong participant satisfaction with the relevance and applicability of the material. These findings affirm that digital education interventions using a humanistic approach can effectively strengthen the adaptive capacity of MSMEs in a dynamic digital business landscape. This article offers both conceptual insights and practical contributions for the development of technology-based community learning models within the MSME ecosystem.

Abstract

Barakati Village in Batudaa District, Gorontalo Regency, is highly vulnerable to floods and landslides. This community service program aims to improve disaster literacy, strengthen community participation, and establish a local mitigation system. Activities included training, evacuation drills, preparation of SOPs and evacuation maps, as well as environmental cleanup and tree planting. The outcomes of this program include increasing community awareness and involvement, establishing a Disaster Resilient Village volunteer group (Destana), and providing practical benefits for both villagers and students.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to design, implement, and socialize a barcode-based digital attendance system to improve the efficiency of student attendance management at SMP Negeri 2 Suwawa. The activity was carried out through observation, interviews, needs analysis, system design, system testing, training, and implementation by utilizing Google Forms and Google Spreadsheets as the attendance database platform. Before the program, student attendance was recorded manually, resulting in time-consuming data recapitulation and a higher risk of recording errors. The implementation results demonstrate that the developed system successfully enables automatic attendance recording through barcode scanning, provides real-time attendance monitoring, and simplifies monthly attendance recapitulation for teachers. In addition, the activity improved teachers' understanding of the use of digital technology in attendance management and supported the school's digital transformation initiatives. Therefore, the barcode-based digital attendance system provides a practical, efficient, and sustainable solution for managing attendance in schools.

Abstract

Schools are places of learning for students to gain knowledge. However, it is not unlikely that schools can also be fewer effective places for students to learn due to the weak ability of educators in educating about sexual violence in schools. The implementation of community service activities at TK Ananda Surabaya was motivated by the low knowledge of sexual violence and domestic violence among students. Therefore, it is hoped that this community service activity will train educational units and parents in an effort to minimize the prevention of sexual violence and domestic violence against students that occur in schools by providing training to PAUD teachers regarding sexual education to prevent sexual violence and domestic violence in early childhood in schools is also expected to create an effective and efficient learning atmosphere so that learning objectives will run smoothly to create a generation of the nation that is intelligent and has good morals. The activity was carried out from February-May 2026 with the involvement of 7 educators (1 principal and 6 teachers) and parents as accompanying participants. The methods used were training, socialization, mentoring, provision of educational media, and the establishment of a counseling room. Evaluation was carried out through observation and documentation. The results of the activities showed an increase in teachers' understanding of sexual education, the establishment of counseling rooms, the availability of sexual education media, and increased parental involvement in efforts to prevent sexual violence and domestic violence.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out to strengthen the economic data governance of BUMDes Sinar Usaha toward the development of a village information dashboard in Tabongo Timur Village, Tabongo Subdistrict, Gorontalo Regency. This BUMDes already has active business units, including its flagship product, Sacha Inchi oil "Sachita"; however, data on business units, activity volumes, partners, customers, workforce, and training remained scattered and unintegrated, making it difficult to use as a basis for decision-making. The activity employed a training and mentoring approach based on Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) combined with dashboard prototype development using a Research and Development (RD) Agile/Scrum approach, encompassing initial coordination, data needs analysis, economic indicator mapping, data governance training, assistance in completing standardized forms, dashboard prototype development, and limited trials involving 12 participants consisting of BUMDes management and village officials. The outcomes of the activity include the establishment of BUMDes economic data indicators, standardized recording formats, a web-based village economic information dashboard prototype named "Tomini-Desk" displaying indicators of business units, partners, workforce, and training, as well as improved understanding among BUMDes management and village officials regarding the importance of economic data, as reflected in a user feedback evaluation score of 87%. This dashboard helps present village economic information in a more concise, visual, and easily understandable manner as a basis for decision-making for BUMDes management and village government.
