Abstract

The position of Pasie Nan Tigo Village on the Coast of Sumatra causes the area to be very risky to coastal abrasion, floods, earthquakes, and even by tsunamis. Therefore, the PKM activities undertaken are aimed at increasing the understanding and readiness of the community in the village in dealing with disasters so that the impact of disasters can be reduced. The activity was carried out using the lecture/counseling method followed by a discussion. The results of the activities showed that in general the community was well-informed in facing disasters. Understanding of natural phenomena especially related to the impact of the earthquake and tsunami such as: the receding of sea water, cracked houses, sudden emergence of water sources, strong and repeated earthquakes and the running of animals towards the land to be a sign of what they should do. The decision to be prepared to evacuate is generally depending on the information released by the government. The community is also equipped with saving valuable family documents such as diplomas, certificates, ID-Card, family card, etc. by doing digital scanning and backing up. Photos and results are stored in a cloud system in the form of an email or in the google drive facility. Communities are also taught about making disaster signs and making agreements especially in families to determine safe gathering places by using the shortest evacuation route map or buildings that can function as shelters.

Abstract

The objectives of this activity are to disseminate the results of research to increase corn production in Limapuluh Kota District, to increase knowledge and skills of the community in making and using biofertilizers, and corn cultivation techniques. The method used is "Technology Transfer" with an integrated approach to motivate the community in a sustainable agriculture program with training, mentoring, and demonstration methods in Payakumbuh State Agriculture Polytechnic Experimental Field from August 2018–June 2019. The implementation consists of three stages: Training in house, manufacture of biofertilizers and application of biofertilizers on corn plants. Sources of bacterial inoculants are the Bacillus and Pseudomonas genera which are the result of isolation and identification of three locations of bamboo, corn, and rice plants in Limapuluh Kota District. Bacteria were inoculated when biofertilizers made from water hyacinth and fermented for 6 weeks and applied to a plot of land measuring 250 m2. The results showed the enthusiasm of the community in participating to make biofertilizers and demonstration plots. The output of this activity: Increased corn production 19% than without biofertilizer, increased of knowledge and skills of community in making and applying biofertilizers on plant increased 20–30%.

Abstract

Community service activities in the form of activities of Desa Binaan through the application of biofungicide technology of Trichoderma virens endofit formulation in powder formulas was carried out at Lubuk Betuah Farmer Group, Pelimauan Jaya and Anugrah in Teluk Merempan Village Mempura District of Siak Regency. The purpose of this activity is to increasing knowledge of farmer groups in the formulation of Trichoderma virens endophytes in powder formulas and producing environmentally-friendly powder biofungicides so as to increase the production and quality of latex, in addition to ease the burden of farmers on fertilizer needs. From this activity is concluded several things, that are socialization of technology control program R. microporus in farmers group target 100% not knowing the use of T. virens as biofungisida. Training on the manufacture of flour biofungicide and the way biofungicide application for control of R. microporus 50% of the target farmer group has the desire to use T. virens biofungicide. Assistance of making flour biofungiside all the participants can make flour biofungicide. Next year activity is done monitoring and evaluation result of R. microporus control and mass production of flour biofungiside for increase the income of rubber farmers.

Abstract

Kebutuhan masyarakat meliputi sandang, pangan dan papan. Kebutuhan sandang dan pangan tidak terlepas dari proses pembersihan dan pencucian. Salah satu bahan yang digunakan untuk proses pencucian adalah sabun. Sabun colek banyak digunakan untuk kebutuhan rumah tangga karena bentuk sabun yang lembek, tidak basah, tidak kering sehingga mempermudah penggunaannya, yaitu mudah ditakar dan mudah digunakan untuk bagian-bagian yang sulit pada pakaian berkerah dan lipatan lengan. Untuk itu sabun colek menjadi alternatif dalam pemilihan jenis sabun. Jika sabun colek ini dapat dibuat sendiri maka akan dapat menghemat pengeluaran keuangan dan akan menjadi peluang usaha untuk masyarakat dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan wirausaha dalam memproduksi sabun sendiri pada skala kecil dan menengah untuk dijual ke Pasaran. Kegiatan pembuatan sabun ini akan dapat menambah pengetahuan masyarakat tentang ilmu dan teknologi serta dapat menambah pengetahuan tentang kewirausahaan. Pengabdian ini direncanakan dilaksanakan pada kelurahan Pulau Payung kecamatan Rumbio Jaya Kabupaten Kampar. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan metode dalam bentuk penyuluhan yaitu mengenalkan cara pembuatan sabun colek dengan metode ceramah, diskusi dan melakukan demonstrasi/praktek pembuatan sabun colek. Kegiatan ini juga mendukung program pemerintah dalam meningkatkan kemampuan masyarakat dalam memproduksi barang kebutuhan sehari hari untuk menghemat pengeluaran masyarakat dan pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Abstract

The use of coal as fuel for PLTU Tenayan Raya Pekanbaru produces waste in the form of fly ash and bottom ash. Fly ash has high silica and alumina content which has the potential to replace cement. The resulting fly ash is partly not utilized and is piled up in the ash disposal area and has the potential to cause water and soil pollution. The increasing use of coal, the environmental burden will be heavier and needs to be anticipated by finding optimal utilization of coal fly ash waste. Based on the description above, community service activities have been carried out in Pematang Kapau Village, Tenayan Raya Pekanbaru District in the form of socialization and training on the use of fly ash waste as a material for making geopolymer paving blocks without using portland cement which has been used in the process of making paving blocks and other building materials. From the results of the above training activities obtained geopolymer paving blocks with specifications rectangular shape with a length of 21 cm, width 10 cm and height 8 cm, gray color and the test results obtained compressive strength of 40.87 MPa into SNI quality standard A.

Abstract

Soft-shelled crabs are mangrove crabs that are cultivated and harvested while moulting so that their shells are soft and easy to consume. The purpose of this activity is to increase the income of the people of Pulau Cawan Village, Mandah District, Indragiri Hilir Regency through the cultivation of soft-shelled crabs. by introducing environmentally friendly cultivation techniques, but can produce added value in terms of improving the family's economy through soft-shelled crab cultivation. Training on softwater crab cultivation techniques and training in the construction of aquaculture ponds (crabs box). These community service activities are carried out using several approach methods, namely providing understanding to the community carried out in the form of FGD (Focus Group Discussion), as well as conducting discussions and practice on crab cultivation to dig up information about understanding environmentally friendly cultivation, protect mangrove ecosystems, increase household income through adding value to catches and solutions regarding fishermen from outside the village who use destructive fishing, by giving poison. A series of services activities conducted on soft shell crab farming techniques (shelled) can be received well by the crab catch fisherman in Desa Pulau Cawan. Increased knowledge and skills of crab catch fishermen in the cultivation of soft shell crabs placed in crab boxes can provide provisions so that these farming activities can continue, and Desa Cawan Island can become a pilot village for soft shell crab cultivation techniques for the next few years.

Abstract

There is oil palm waste in the form of Oil Palm Empty Bunches (TKKS) in the Village of Kampung Baru, Subdistrict of Ukui, Pelalawan Regency. TKKS can be used as a medium for straw mushroom cultivation. To utilize this potential, the team provided the training and assistance in developing mushrooms product and its institutional strengthening to the community groups and local economical institutions. The team implement the activities by conducting community assistance to 20 village people. Other than that, the team gave the marketing knowledge of the mushroom product, so that it could increase the community income and economy. The activities located in the biogas plant development area. The result is participants have been able to cultivate mushroom from the process of setting the medium to harvesting. This activity has not reached the stage of harvest calculation and marketing yet. But the participants have got a mushroom products estimation that in the 144 m2 harvested area produces 34.56 kg of mushroom is per day.

Abstract

The objectives to be achieved in community service activities are, so that the participating communities can: 1). Having knowledge of how to basic assembly of computers, 2). Having knowledge about how to install a Windows operating system and its application programs, 3). Having knowledge about how to repair / boot booting on computer hardware or software. This community service is carried out based on our observation, that in Pandau Jaya Village, Siak Hulu District 80% of the community has no knowledge of assembly and maintenance on PC computers (personal computers) or laptops. With the development of technology, especially computers that are increasingly widespread, so as to provide employment opportunities in the field of computers will also be more wide open. For this reason, competence in how to assemble and repair computer hardware and software in the community, especially the people in Pandau Jaya Village, is highly needed so that they can later overcome the problems themselves on the computer equipment. The level of achievement of Community Service activities that have been carried out in Pandau Jaya village are: 1) community members, especially teenagers in Pandau Jaya village, Siak Hulu sub-district have knowledge and skills about basic assembly on computers. 2) Having knowledge and skills on how to make improvements to the computer. 3) Can overcome the interference if there are simple problems that arise at any time. 4) Having knowledge and skills on how to install an windows operating system along with application programs.

Abstract

Flooding is a problem that almost every year affects urban and rural areas. Generally, in urban areas, floods are caused more by the lack of smooth flow of water (sewage) due to waste dumped into the water stream and the reduction of water catchment areas. The Delima Subdistrict of Tampan Subdistrict has a simple housing area that has a limited home yard measuring around 7m x13m up to 10m x 15m per house unit. To meet clean water needs, this area uses bore wells which over time will reduce underground water reserves. The housing area is sometimes disemenised, which results in a lack of infiltration of rain water so that it is prone to flooding and drought. To overcome this, the community can apply biopore infiltration technology. This service activity aims to introduce biopore infiltration technology and invites the community to apply it and make biocompost from the infiltration hole. The method of service activities was carried out with material delivery techniques and discussions as well as demonstrations or practices in making biopori infiltration holes as an effort to overcome floods and droughts in settlements around the Delima Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. From the results of this activity it is known that the target community seemed enthusiastic about the material presented and there was an increase in the knowledge and insights of the participants about biopori absorption technology by around 80%.

Abstract

Fruit crops (mango and avocado) are one of the horticultural commodities of high economic value that have the opportunity to be developed to increase income for villagers. Fruit crops (mango and avocado) with vegetative propagation (graft and grafting) begin to bear fruit at the age of between 2-3 years. Observation results from the village’s potential shows that in Nyogan Village is suitable for the cultivation of mango and avocado plants as a result of graft propagation and grafting. On this basis, it is possible if applied to idle land that is no longer used (on unproductive land). Fruit crops are very likely to be developed on community lands around residential or vacant plantations that have not been so far. Evaluation results show that mango and avocado plants are well known in Nyogan Village but have not been cultivated with well and the seeds used are still obtained conventionally. After the introduction of graft propagated seedlings and the connections and prospects of these plants, the community especially farmers became interested. On this basis, fruit crops are very likely to be developed on community lands that are in the vicinity of housing or vacant plantation lands that have not been utilized to be productive and have added economic and ecological value.
