Abstract

One of the nursing problems that arises in emergency patients is ineffective brain tissue perfusion, characterized by a reduction in brain tissue circulation due to low oxygen levels in the brain and a decrease in the Glasgow Coma Scale value. This condition leads to patient disorientation. If not promptly treated, it can lead to an increase in intracranial pressure and worsen the patient's condition. Oxygen is a vital gas component and element that plays a crucial role in metabolic processes, safeguarding the survival of all cells in the body. This activity aims to provide education to nurses, enhancing their knowledge and skills in oxygenation principles in emergency situations. The methods employed include mentoring, lectures, discussions, demonstrations by facilitators, and re-demonstrations by participants for evaluation. Evaluation results indicate a 40% increase in the understanding and knowledge of students and nurses concerning the provision of oxygen therapy in emergency situations, rising from 55% to 95%.

Abstract

Proficiency in basic life support (BLS) techniques significantly increases the chances of survival for victims, boosting their likelihood of recovery by approximately 80%. Basic life support involves actions aimed at maintaining an open airway, assisting with breathing, and ensuring circulation without the need for specialized equipment. These skills can be acquired by the general public without requiring extensive medical education. As a result, the primary objective of this community service initiative is to enhance the knowledge and proficiency of basic life support (BLS) among laypeople in the West Martapura District. Our methods include lectures, question-and-answer sessions, practical demonstrations, focus group discussions (FGDs), and hands-on BLS training using mannequins, all under the guidance and supervision of qualified instructors. The outcome of this program is an improved understanding and competency in applying BLS techniques, empowering ordinary individuals to confidently assist those in need within their community.

Abstract

Washing hands with soap is an effort to prevent transmission of diseases caused by germs. Generally, the antibacterial substance in liquid soap is triclosan, but the use of triclosan is known to kill the good flora on the skin. Butterfly pea flower (clitoria ternatea) contains secondary metabolites which are known to have antibacterial activity such as flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids and tannins so it can be used as a substitute for triclosan. The program aims to increase the knowledge about the use of natural ingredients to be processed into liquid soap. The activity began with a pre-test, continued with a education and workshop on making liquid soap from a mixture of butterfly pea extract and surfactants, and ended with a discussion and post-test. The result of this activity showed that students were able to create butterfly pea flower handwashing soap, as indicated by a 100% increase in their knowledge and skills.

Abstract

Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park (TNBNW) is a national park located in the Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. Within this national park, there is the Pinogu sub-district, which possesses high-potential commodities, namely coffee and cattle. However, access to the sub-district is relatively difficult, resulting in Pinogu not fully utilizing its resources, particularly in the livestock sector. Considering that Pinogu is an organic area, all products originating from Pinogu should adhere to organic standards. To support this assertion, there is a need for organic certification from official institutions. Therefore, assistance was provided to help prepare organic cattle certification for Pinogu livestock groups, enabling them to obtain organic cattle certification from official institutions through outreach, document collection, and interviews. The outcome of this program is the necessary documentation and data required to meet the organic cattle certification requirements.
