Abstract

The Borobudur Temple is one of Indonesia’s tourist destinations, which has long been famous among local and foreign tourists. The Indonesian government has even designated the Borobudur compound as a super-priority tourist destination. However, the existence of the Borobudur Temple has not had much effect on the welfare of the people who live in the surrounding villages. This community service activity was conducted to build the capacities of young people in some villages around the Borobudur Temple area. This activity aimed to improve the soft skills of young people. More specifically, it was designed to guide them to be aware of themselves and their communities, gain the skills to communicate with others, identify and map the potentials and challenges in their communities, and develop action plans for their communities. This program was carried out in the form of a workshop, adapting the active citizen modules developed by the British Council. The participants claimed that this workshop was useful for them, especially in making them more confident, helping them realize their existence, increasing their ability to communicate with others and build networks with people from different backgrounds, enhancing their understanding of their community and environments, and raising their motivation in making positive social changes.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the tourism sector, including Doplang tourist village, which was recognized as an attractive tourist destination in Semarang Regency. The pandemic situation presented significant challenges that resulted in demotivation among the community in developing the tourism potential of this area. In the context of institutional innovation, this community empowerment aims to address the demotivation of Doplang tourist village's community caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which disrupted the development of tourism potential. One crucial step in achieving this goal is to implement changes and improvements in the structure and mechanisms of organizations involved in managing the tourism destination in the village. Through institutional innovation, it is expected that more effective collaboration and synergy will be created among all parties involved. These changes aim to enhance active participation from the community in decision-making related to tourism development. Consequently, the community will play a more active role in managing their own tourist destination and collectively identifying the potential of local tourism that can be developed. The outcomes of this program also include efforts to raise awareness within the community about developing local tourism potential and creatively promoting the village through social media. Through effective collaboration among various stakeholders, it is hoped that Doplang tourist village will recover from the impact of the pandemic, increase tourist visits, stimulate the local economy, and strengthen the village's image as a competitive, sustainable, and unique tourism destination.

Abstract

Changes in temperature and extreme weather conditions, combined with exposure to pollution, have a negative impact on the body's immunity. This poses a challenge for every mother, who typically acts as a shield for her family in maintaining their immune system. Instead of using chemical-based multivitamins that may have long-term effects, there are kitchen ingredients that can be utilized to create natural multivitamins. The purpose of this program is to enhance the knowledge, skills, and productivity of partners in processing kitchen ingredients into natural, healthy beverages using the JSR (Prophet's Healthy Technique) method. The program begins with providing awareness sessions to partners, who are members of the PKK Sungai Pauh Firdaus, followed by training in the processing of kitchen ingredients into healthy beverages using the more practical JSR method, which also allows for selling and adds economic value for partners. The results obtained by partners after participating in the program include an improvement in their knowledge and skills in processing kitchen ingredients into healthy beverages. There has also been an increase in economic productivity among partners, including orders for healthy beverages from members of the DWP social gathering organized by one of the PKK Sungai Pauh Firdaus members.
