Abstract

Academic resilience is one of the key elements of success for mathematics education students in facing academic challenges in higher education. This study aims to develop an Islamic Counseling Model using Bibliotherapy e-books to improve the academic resilience of Mathematics Education students. This research is a Developmental Study with a design according to Borg and Gall, which consists of three stages, namely the preliminary study stage, the model development stage, and the model testing stage. The research was conducted at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. Data collection was carried out using an academic resilience scale and an expert assessment scale. Data analysis was performed using quantitative descriptive analysis to describe the academic resilience of students in the preliminary study stage, followed by Miles and Huberman's qualitative descriptive analysis to describe the feasibility of the Islamic Counseling Model of Bibliotherapy using e-books, and finally, the U-Mann Whitney test was performed to determine the effectiveness of the model. The results showed that 52% of students' academic resilience in education was in the moderate to low category. The feasibility test of the Islamic Counseling Model using the Bibliotherapy Technique with e-books with several experts showed that it was feasible to use. Based on the U-Mann Whitney test results, a sig. value of 0.000 was obtained, so it was concluded that the Islamic Counseling Model using the Bibliotherapy Technique with e-books was effective in increasing the academic resilience of mathematics education students.

Abstract

This study explores the process of positive self-acceptance among fatherless adolescents in Indonesia, a phenomenon that remains underexamined within the cultural and educational context. The research aims to understand how emotional regulation, coping strategies, and social support contribute to adolescents’ self-acceptance after experiencing the absence of a father due to death, divorce, or lack of involvement. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five students aged 15–18 from SMA Negeri 2 Purbalingga, along with guidance and counseling teachers as triangulation sources. The results reveal that self-acceptance among fatherless adolescents is a dynamic and contextual process characterized by four patterns: stable, fluctuating, struggling, and transformative. Emotional awareness, gratitude, and social relationships particularly maternal support and counselor involvement emerged as crucial factors in fostering resilience. These findings highlight that father absence does not always lead to maladjustment; instead, it may serve as a pathway for personal growth and emotional maturity when supported by relational and communal resources. This study contributes to the understanding of adolescent well-being within a collectivist culture and provides practical implications for school-based counseling programs emphasizing emotional literacy, self-compassion, and social connectedness.

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial developmental stage marked by rapid biological, psychological, and social changes that require adaptive coping and emotional regulation. Limited self-compassion during this period is often linked to self-criticism, anxiety, and challenges in achieving developmental tasks, potentially undermining mental well-being. This study conducted a systematic review to examine the effectiveness of group interventions in enhancing self-compassion, with emphasis on adolescents. Using a qualitative library research design guided by PRISMA, the review involved topic selection, database searches, screening through PICOS criteria, data extraction, and content analysis. Five relevant studies were identified, encompassing diverse group-based approaches such as Gestalt group counselling, Modified Mindful Self-Compassion (MMSC), gratitude-based group therapy, and online self-compassion psychotherapy. The findings consistently showed that group interventions improve self-compassion, which in turn fosters emotional regulation, self-acceptance, and psychological well-being. Programmes integrating mindfulness, spirituality, and digital delivery demonstrate adaptability across cultural and practical contexts. This review contributes to the field by synthesising evidence from varied intervention models and underscoring their relevance in educational and clinical settings. It highlights the value of accessible, structured group-based strategies to promote mental health in adolescents and other vulnerable populations. Future research with larger experimental designs is recommended to strengthen empirical validation and extend generalisability.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the factors that cause low self-disclosure, the relationship between self-disclosure and stress disorders, and to enhance self-disclosure. This study uses a systematic literature review method. This research article was obtained through PubMed, Scopus, Wiley, and Garuda. The literature search used the keywords self-disclosure, stress, and adolescents with inclusion criteria of adolescent population, research from 2015-2025, and research articles. Data analysis yielded 6 relevant literatures that met the inclusion criteria. Based on the results of the literature review, it is explained that the factors causing low self-disclosure include feelings of insecurity and fear of opening up to others, closed communication between parents and adolescents, and a privacy attitude that makes teenagers reluctant to share their problems with others. This study proves that low self-disclosure will lead to certain psychological pressures, resulting in stress disorders in adolescents. Therefore, a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy counseling approach is necessary to enhance self-disclosure among adolescents. It is concluded that it is important to enhance self-disclosure among adolescents. Adolescents are encouraged to build good social relationships so that they can express their problems to others, thereby reducing the stress symptoms caused by low self-disclosure

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Hamemayu Hayuning Bawana (HHB) a Javanese philosophical value emphasizing moral refinement and harmony with the universe as a cultural framework for post-traumatic recovery among sextortion survivors in Indonesia. Using a mixed-method explanatory research design, the study involved 137 participants who completed the Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R), followed by in-depth interviews with three female survivors and two Javanese cultural experts. Quantitative data revealed high levels of post-traumatic distress, particularly in the dimension of avoidance, while qualitative findings illustrated seven stages of recovery aligned with the Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) model. Survivors demonstrated psychological adaptation through processes of self-reflection, social support, emotional regulation, and spiritual renewal. The integration of HHB values Mangasah Mingising Budi (moral and cognitive refinement) and Memasuh Malaning Bumi (restoring balance and cleansing negativity) facilitated the development of new meaning, resilience, and self-acceptance. The study proposes a culturally grounded self-help model for trauma recovery that bridges indigenous philosophy and psychological theory, offering implications for culturally responsive counseling practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

Self-love is a positive attitude toward oneself that can be learned and sustained throughout life. Observations at State Senior High School 3 Kediri revealed low levels of self-love among students, as indicated by behaviors such as self-harm, insecurity, and difficulty taking pride in themselves. These symptoms correspond to key indicators of self-love: self-awareness, self-worth, self-esteem, and self-care. To address this issue, this study aimed to develop a game-based counseling medium called Serenity Mahjong: Embracing Self-Love (SMAILE) as a tool for group counseling services. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. Instruments used included expert validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, and a self-love scale (pre-test and post-test). Validation results showed that the media was highly feasible and practical, with validation scores of 96.59% (media expert), 75% (content expert), and a practicality score of 91.67% from practitioners. Effectiveness testing using the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant increase in students' self-love scores after the intervention (p = 0.028). Therefore, the SMAILE media is proven to be valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students' self-love through group counseling services. It is recommended that the development of SMAILE be continued, with improvements in design, content, and activities tailored to students’ characteristics, and that broader trials be conducted to assess its wider applicability.

Abstract

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is increasingly being applied in the context of career guidance and counseling in response to the growing phenomenon of career anxiety and uncertainty in the BANI (Brittle, Anxiety-inducing, Non-linear, and Incomprehensible) era. This study examines the contribution of CBT in helping individuals transition from a state of career anxiety to more rational thinking and stronger career adaptability. The study was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method on nine articles obtained from the Google Scholar and Publish or Perish databases with the criteria of publications in English and Indonesian in the period 2015–2025. The results show that the consistent application of CBT improves self-efficacy, career maturity, and career adaptability in various population groups, including students and professionals. CBT has been proven effective in reducing career anxiety through cognitive restructuring, strengthening self-control, and developing reflective and realistic thinking patterns about one's career future. In addition, CBT also strengthens the four main dimensions of career adaptability concern, control, curiosity, and confidence which form the basis of psychological resilience in facing changes in the world of work. Based on these findings, this study confirms that the integration of CBT into career guidance services is an effective strategy for shaping a generation that thinks rationally, is adaptive, and is resilient in facing career dynamics in the BANI era.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and examine the feasibility of a traditional game-based medium, derived from the game "congklak," named CONGDARDIR (Congklak Kesadaran Diri Congklak), as a tool in group counseling services to enhance high school students’ self-awareness. The research employed a R&D method using the ADDIE model, consisting of five stages: analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate. The medium was validated by subject matter experts, media experts, and users (school counselors), with feasibility percentages of 94%, 86%, and 93% respectively, categorizing it as "highly feasible." The final product consists of a congklak board, game seeds, and reflection cards designed based on self-awareness indicators. The trial was conducted with eight 11th-grade students selected through purposive sampling due to their low level of self-awareness. Scores averaged 88.13 (pretest) and increased to 136.13 (posttest). The Shapiro-Wilk normality test indicated normally distributed data. The homogeneity test yielded a significance value of 0.832 (p > 0.05), indicating homogeneous variance between pretest and posttest scores. The paired sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant improvement following the intervention. Therefore, the CONGDARDIR medium has proven statistically and practically effective as a group counseling tool to enhance students’ self-awareness through a fun, reflective, and culturally grounded approach. Counselors are encouraged to continuously utilize this medium in guidance services. Schools are also expected to support its use as part of student character development programs. Future researchers are recommended to further develop this medium and test its implementation in broader school contexts.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing incidence of speech delay in early childhood, which not only affects children’s language development but also creates emotional and psychological pressure on parents, making resilience an essential aspect of the caregiving process. This study is significant because parenting patterns are presumed to play a major role in shaping parental resilience when facing developmental challenges in their children. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between parenting patterns and the resilience of parents who have children with speech delay. Using a quantitative approach with a correlational design, the study was conducted with 16 parents of children aged 5–6 years at TK Pertiwi 1 Padang, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires on parenting patterns and parental resilience, and later analyzed through normality tests, linearity tests, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. The results indicate that the data were normally distributed and the relationship between variables was linear, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0,423 and a significance value of 0,003, indicating a positive, moderate, and significant relationship between parenting patterns and parental resilience. These findings show that warm, responsive, and consistent parenting contributes to parents’ ability to manage stress, maintain emotional stability, and adapt while raising children with speech delay. The study’s implications highlight the importance of family interventions, parenting training, and social support to strengthen parental resilience. The study concludes that parenting patterns are an important factor to consider in efforts to enhance the psychological resilience of families with children experiencing speech delay
