Abstract

Economic crises can affect various aspects of family life, including finances, interpersonal relationships, and mental health. This research aims to explore family resilience in the face of the economic crisis with a focus on internal family dynamics and the adaptation strategies applied. The research method employed is qualitative, utilizing a case study approach. The study included 3 participants who had experienced an economic crisis, and they were interviewed using semi-structured interviews. This research analysis uses descriptive analysis. Data collection techniques using interviews and observations. The results showed that the family belief system was the main driver in facing difficulties. Adaptive strategies, such as strict budget management and open discussions on financial matters, proved effective in maintaining the financial stability and well-being of family members. Communication patterns used during the crisis also played an important role, with families that used open communication tending to be better able to cope with conflict and stress. This study concludes that family resilience in the face of economic crisis is the result of a combination of strong belief systems, effective adaptation strategies, and open communication patterns that support cooperation and solidarity between family members. The findings provide important insights for development programs and policies that can help families cope with the economic crisis.

Abstract

Work stress in police personnel is one of the important factors influencing psychological well being and family dynamics, particularly marital commitment. This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between work stress and marital commitment among Indonesian National Police personnel thru a systematic literature review (SLR) approach to recent national and international research. The study results indicate that work stress has an impact on reducing communication quality, causing role conflict, and increasing emotional tension in the marital relationships of police personnel. Work-family conflict is the main mediator in this relationship. While social support, flexible work policies, and individual coping strategies are important moderating factors in overcoming existing conditions. The limitations of the research found are primarily related to the dominance of quantitative studies, the limitations of the local Indonesian context, and the scarcity of longitudinal studies, which pose challenges for the development of effective interventions. This study recommends strengthening organizational and family support and developing policies responsive to the dynamics of work stress to improve resilience and the quality of marital commitment among police personnel. This finding is very important in efforts to strengthen understanding of the work-life balance in the police environment in order to support the professionalism and well-being of members and their families.

Abstract

Diverse individual experiences and problems often lead to painful psychological disorders, one of which is the traumatic experience of individuals who have been involved in train accidents, which can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder. This condition requires responsive and serious attention, as it can have negative and long-lasting effects. One effort that can be made to overcome this problem is the implementation of individual counseling using the eye movement desensitization reprocessing technique. This study focused on empirically testing the effectiveness of individual counseling using the eye movement desensitization reprocessing technique in reducing PTSD in adolescents who have experienced train accidents. The research method used was an experiment with a single subject research design. The sample in this study consisted of two students who had experienced a train accident and had high levels of PTSD. The results showed that individual counseling using the eye movement desensitization reprocessing technique was effective in reducing PTSD in adolescents who had experienced a train accident. Visual analysis shows a consistent and significant decline in clients. Both clients who were initially identified as having PTSD no longer showed signs of PTSD after undergoing 3 and 4 sessions of intervention. However, the findings of this study should not be generalized to samples with different characteristics. The researchers recommend that future researchers apply individual counseling using eye movement desensitization reprocessing techniques to populations and samples with broader characteristics, as well as other relevant issues.

Abstract

Academic anxiety is a common emotional challenge among vocational students who face dual academic and vocational demands, often resulting in decreased motivation, impaired concentration, and lower academic performance. School counselors play a crucial role in supporting students experiencing academic anxiety, yet limited research has examined how students themselves interpret the presence of school counselors in this context. This phenomenological study explores the lived experiences and perceived meaning of the presence of guidance and counseling (BK) teachers among students with academic anxiety in three private vocational schools in Central Lombok, Indonesia. Using purposive sampling, data were collected from 10 students identified with moderate to high academic anxiety, three school counselors, and two homeroom teachers through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the phenomenological procedures of Miles and Huberman, involving coding, thematic categorization, comparison of experiences, and theoretical integration. Four major themes emerged: (1) school counselors as an emotional safe space, (2) providers of academic coping strategies, (3) motivators who enhance students’ confidence, and (4) mediators connecting students, teachers, and parents. These findings highlight that the presence of school counselors extends beyond administrative functions and is deeply experienced as emotional, motivational, and relational support. The study underscores the critical role of counselor–student interpersonal relationships in reducing academic anxiety, particularly within vocational school settings. Implications include the need for strengthened counseling programs, proactive interventions, and enhanced counselor training to better address academic anxiety and foster student resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of Scenario Matrix Analysis for Learning (SMAL) on students of a non-favorite junior high school in North Kalimantan. Self-efficacy is an individual's belief in their ability to complete tasks and face challenges. Through a systematic group guidance approach, students are trained to identify problems, analyze causal factors, formulate solutions, and reflect on the results in a structured manner. The research method used was a pre-experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The results showed a significant increase in self-efficacy scores after participating in the intervention. These findings indicate that Group Guidance with SMAL is effective in improving the self-efficacy of non-favorite junior high school students.

Abstract

Ethical codes form the foundation of counseling professionalism, protecting clients and maintaining professional integrity. The digital era presents complex ethical challenges regarding data confidentiality, counsellors’ digital competence, and professional boundaries in virtual spaces. This study comprehensively explores the philosophical foundations, structure, implementation, and challenges of ethical codes for guidance and counseling in national and international contexts, identifying regulatory gaps in the digital era. This research employed a narrative literature review approach examining publications from 2015-2025 sourced from Scopus, Google Scholar, ERIC, PubMed, PsycINFO, and national journal portals. Analysis was conducted through thematic content analysis, encompassing systematic information extraction, thematic categorization, comparative analysis of Indonesian and international ethical codes, narrative synthesis, and critical interpretation of theoretical and practical implications. Results of this research indicate that ethical codes are rooted in philosophical foundations (ontology, epistemology, axiology) with universal principles: autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, fidelity, and veracity. International comparison reveals ACA and ASCA (US) emphasize client protection and digital technology; BACP (UK) focuses on values-based practice; PACFA and ACA Australia prioritize cultural diversity; while ABKIN Indonesia emphasizes socio-cultural norms and national educational goals. Digital era challenges include digital data confidentiality, counsellors’ digital competence gaps, professional boundaries on social media, digital informed consent, and cross-border counseling. International associations have updated their ethical codes to include specific digital counseling regulations, yet Indonesia lacks comprehensive chapters on cyber counseling. Indonesian ethical codes, ABKIN, need to revise its ethical codes by adding chapters on cyber counseling, strengthening enforcement mechanisms, and integrating digital ethics into counselor education curricula.
